Harvard Professor of Law Emeritus Alan Dershowitz has proven to be a wealth of (often but not always) solid commentary and analysis in recent years, as he is one of the few on the left side of the political aisle who’s been willing to point out that much of the endless Democrat lawfare against Donald Trump has been a banana republic style of justice and runs counter to our Constitution.
He’s also been a lifelong Democrat, which has been head-scratching to me. I sometimes wish I could ask, “How can you be a lifelong Democrat—did you hear what you yourself just said?”

Kamala Harris has been trying desperately to leverage her background as a prosecutor and former California Attorney General to position herself as a "law and order" candidate. But that narrative took a significant hit on Friday when the nation's oldest and largest police union, the Fraternal Order of Police, delivered a resounding rejection of her record by endorsing Donald Trump for president.
"Public safety and border security will be important issues in the last months of this campaign," Patrick Yoes, national president of the Fraternal Order of Police, said in a statement. "Our members carefully considered the positions of the candidates on the issues and there was no doubt—zero doubt

Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) said Friday on ABC’s “The View” that Vice President Kamala Harris should not underestimate her opponent, former President Donald Trump, in a debate setting.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said, “Kamala Harris is running a very different campaign than she did when she ran in the 2020. She’s moving to the center on a number of issues and walked back previously held positions like calling for banning fracking. She’s gearing up to do this must-watch debate with former President Trump on Tuesday. Do you think it’s a strategic mistake that she hasn’t explained some of these positions she’s changed

Statistician Nate Silver on Friday released his latest 2024 presidential election forecast, which shows former President Donald Trump at 61.5 percent and Vice President Kamala Harris at 38.3 percent.
The rise in Trump’s chances of 15.4 percent is a flip from Silver’s forecast on August 23, when Harris’s chances of winning were at 53.5 percent and Trump’s at 46.1 percent. Those numbers came right after the Democratic National Convention, when the vice president was still enjoying a mainstream media honeymoon.
A few weeks have passed since then, and Harris has not held a single press conference, opting for one

Mason Schermerhorn last texted his mom from the restroom before he was discovered as one of the four killed in a mass shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, a chaplain and youth minister who tried to help find the teen said.
Ronald Clark had stopped at a store on his way home Wednesday morning, when he learned of the shooting from his wife via phone call.
He rushed to the scene, and quickly offered his services to law enforcement at the command post. He was instructed to assist crews on the investigative side.
About an hour later, he said he started seeing the students, who were "hurt."

Hunter, it seems, just can’t get a break. First, he gets convicted of all three counts on an illegal gun purchase. That doesn’t sound like much but it carries a potential 25-year sentence.
Bad luck, that conviction.
This week, his trial for tax evasion was to begin. At the last minute, he trotted out a scheme where he pleads guilty without admitting guilt. (It’s a lawyer thing.)
The prosecutors were having none of it, and the judge was skeptical.
So then, Hunter just entered a straight guilty plea on all nine counts. They carry a potential 17-year sentence.
If he were sentenced to the maximum on both the gun and the tax charges,

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley on Friday said that Judge Juan Merchan’s decision to delay former President Donald Trump’s sentencing could be an effort to avoid boosting his campaign.
Merchan had scheduled Trump’s sentencing for Sept. 18, but on Friday, he postponed the date to Nov. 26 “if necessary,” according to his order. Turley, on “America Reports,” claimed that Merchan’s rulings against Trump during his case were advantageous to his reelection bid, suggesting that maintaining the September sentencing date would have further intensified support for the former president.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, a lifelong Republican, will vote for Kamala Harris for president, his daughter Liz Cheney said Friday. (snip) In a campaign ad for Liz Cheney as she sought a fourth term as Wyoming’s lone congressperson, Dick Cheney called Trump a “coward” for trying to “steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him.”
The ad did little good for his daughter in a deep-red state that once held the Cheney family dear but is now thoroughly in Trump’s corner. By a 2-to-1 margin, Liz Cheney lost her Republican primary to Trump-endorsed attorney Harriet Hageman.

Colt Gray was arrested on Wednesday at Apalachee High School in Winder, after he opened fire at students and teachers, killing four.
Colt admitted to the shooting, saying "I did it", when told of his Miranda rights. His father, Colin Gray, 54, is accused of purchasing the AR-15-style rifle used by his son. Quick recap: A Minnesota charity, Feeding Our Future, took advantage of pandemic-era rules that let student-meal programs cooperate off school grounds to run as many as 250 utterly fake meal-assistance sites to siphon off close to a cool $250 million in federal aid funds.
That was spent not on feeding kids but on things like luxury cars and high-end real estate; per Attorney General Merrick Garland,

The execution last week of six Israeli hostages, including one American citizen, is a microcosm of the evil that is truly defining of Islamic terror. There was never a serious question of convicting Hunter of these crimes, just a will of the Justice Department to secure them.

The Associated Press deleted a tweet Thursday aimed at Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance after fact checkers called them out for misrepresenting his comment on school shootings.
The tweet linked to an article about Vance, implying that he’d called school shootings a “fact of life” shortly after a deadly shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia on Wednesday. The AP replaced the story roughly 90 minutes with correct context, that Vance said he “laments that school shootings are a ‘fact of life’ and says the U.S. needs to harden security to prevent more carnage” like the attack in Georgia.

ADL further recorded a total of 400 antisemitic incidents on college and university campuses, compared to only 33 incidents during the same period in 2022. Ugly incidents of U.S. campus antisemitism persisted throughout the spring 2024 semester year.
Routine empirical, if taboo, observation clearly indicates that often, the most vociferous and violent U.S. student campus antisemites share a common Islamic/Muslim religio-ethnic identity. I have resisted saying too much about the two astronauts whose eight-day mission to the International Space Station in June has turned, perforce, into an eight-month stay, lasting (at least) until February next year. Mainly because its awful symbolism is too pathetic, in both the archaic and contemporary senses. There has been remarkably little high-level official reaction - to the point that Kamala is so oblivious to whatever's going on up there that her campaign slogan is "We're not going back." Yeah, tell it to Suni and Butch. The US used to be both sunny and butch - and the Vice President certainly has no plans to "go back"

Biden keeps leaning on Israel, and that keeps emboldening Hamas. Hamas is now demanding even more to make a deal and even threatening the hostages. That's what bending over and being weak like Biden gets you.
But I guess the Harris-Walz team didn't want Biden to have a corner on stupid. They doubled down on the bad takes with what Tim Walz said to WCMU on Thursday. WCMU Public Radio covers Central and Northern Michigan. No wonder there's a reluctance to let him talk. It was awful.

The Biden-Harris regime’s attempt to end the Israel-Hamas war in time for Kamala Harris to carry Michigan and Minnesota is as naïve as it is craven: the regime seems to be laboring under the illusion that both sides are equivalent and are negotiating in good faith.

Did you see we’re back to this nonsense again? The Russians are trying to interfere in the 2024 election—it’s the reboot of this failed political franchise. It’s to the point where we’re all desensitized to it because it’s a fake story. No concrete evidence was discovered linking former President Donald Trump to the Kremlin, but here we are again. One must wonder if Kamala Harris’ internals are that poor. Yet, this narrative imploded within 36 hours after Vladimir Putin mouthed off who he wanted to see as the next president of the United States.

With days until early voting begins, and two months before a victor is declared, this remains Donald Trump's race to lose.
Simply put, Americans prefer strength over weakness and commonsense fairness over wokeness.
It's also a hard fact that Trump can cite more accomplishments from a successful first term than Harris, who despite her regret and reset, represents four more years of the present chaos and crisis. After besting President Biden in CNN's debate, surviving an assassination attempt and presiding – just days later – over a triumphant Republican National Convention, Trump's poll numbers skyrocketed, and the presidency seemed firmly within his reach.

The Kamala Harris campaign spokesman Ian Sams appeared on CNN this week and made excuses for why they are not talking about Kamala’s record from the last few years.
This gives away their whole game. Democrats and the Harris people want voters to forget the fact that Harris has been part of the Biden administration and is directly responsible for what has transpired over the last three and a half years.
That’s why they keep pushing the whole ‘new way forward’ nonsense. It’s a feeble attempt to erase recent history so that Harris isn’t held accountable by voters.

Thursday has become one of the worst days in Vice President Kamala Harris' mismanaged and flailing presidential run. Let's take a stroll through a few of the previous troubling incidents and statements so far, and see where it leads.
Team Harris began the day with catastrophic tidings via the poll analysis of Nate Silver...and whispers continuing to swirl like the Sonoran Desert's monsoon winds that the campaign is having regrets about who Kamala picked as her running mate. Democrat veep nominee and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz didn't have things any better, with the revelation of his comments of effusive support for pro-Hamas protesters

In 2019, Vice President Kamala Harris told CNN's Jake Tapper that social media companies "are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation and it has to stop."
Does it?
Every two-bit authoritarian in history has justified censoring its citizens as a way of protecting them from the menace of disinformation.
But social media sites, contra the reliably illiberal Harris, aren't "directly speaking" to anyone. Millions of individuals are interacting and speaking to millions of other individuals. Really, that's what grinds the modern left's gears: unsupervised conversations.
Take the Brazilian Supreme Court panel that unanimously upheld the decision by one of its justices

On Thursday’s broadcast of “CNN This Morning,” Harris-Walz Campaign Senior National Spokesman Ian Sams stated that 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris supports a smaller increase in the capital gains tax rate than President Joe Biden “to better incentivize the kind of investment in entrepreneurs that we want to see in this country to help achieve some of the broader economic goals.”
Sams said, “[Y]ou have to help people afford to start a business. It costs, on average, 40,000 bucks for someone to start a small business. But the tax deduction is only 5,000 bucks. She wants to tenfold expand that to $50,000

Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign raised more than $300 million in August, more than twice that raised by former President Donald Trump’s campaign.
Harris has been raising significant funds since President Joe Biden announced on July 21 that he would not seek the Democrat nomination.
Two sources familiar with the Harris fundraising totals said that there are plans to hold several fundraisers for Harris’s campaign in September, including possible events in major hubs such as New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Franscisco.
NBC News reported:
After the convention, Harris campaign officials said they had raised more than $540 million since Harris took the reins of the campaign.
