Kamala Harris's Banana Republic on Free Speech

Original Article

In 2019, Vice President Kamala Harris told CNN's Jake Tapper that social media companies "are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation and it has to stop." Does it? Every two-bit authoritarian in history has justified censoring its citizens as a way of protecting them from the menace of disinformation. But social media sites, contra the reliably illiberal Harris, aren't "directly speaking" to anyone. Millions of individuals are interacting and speaking to millions of other individuals. Really, that's what grinds the modern left's gears: unsupervised conversations. Take the Brazilian Supreme Court panel that unanimously upheld the decision by one of its justices

Vice President I'm Speaking was assigned to read 1984 in school and she thought it was an instruction manual for public office. It's her favorite book, right up there with the Communist Manifesto and Rules for Radicals.

Former President Donald Trump received an impassioned endorsement from Grammy Award-winning country music star Gretchen Wilson during a rally in Wisconsin on Saturday, with the singer excoriating the Democratic party for abandoning the American people. Gretchen Wilson appeared alongside Trump during his rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin. Before she performed, she spoke about her humble upbringing in Illinois and her family, which supported Democrats. “Back in the day my family were all Kennedy Democrats. But that’s when the Democrats were on the side of the people,” she said. “Once I started paying attention to what was really going on, I realized the Democratic Party left us.”

A manhunt is underway for at least one suspect after several people were shot Saturday near an interstate in a rural area of Laurel County, Kentucky, located south of Lexington, according to the sheriff’s office. The active shooter situation occurred near Interstate 75, about nine miles north of the city of London, where “numerous persons have been shot,” said the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Kentucky State Police Trooper Scottie Pennington said via social media the suspect “has not been caught at this time. We are urging people to stay inside.” Law enforcement will provide “as much information as it becomes available,” he added.

The New York Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI, working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), apprehended terror suspect Mohammed Khan for planning a terror attack in Brooklyn, New York City. FBI's undercover investigators communicated with Khan via encrypted message apps and learned that he planned a mass shooting at an undisclosed Jewish center in Brooklyn. Khan planned the attack to take place on or near October 7, the anniversary of Hamas' brutal attack on mostly unarmed Israeli civilians, which resulted in an unknown number of rapes, roughly 1,200 deaths, and many hostages. Khan, 20, was arrested near Ormstown, Quebec, approximately 12 miles from the Canadian-American border.

Several years after Donald Trump called Kim Jong Un “Little Rocket Man,” Elton John has weighed in on his hit song being the inspiration for the North Korean dictator’s nickname. “I laughed, I thought that was brilliant,” John told Variety‘s Ramin Setoodeh in an interview at Toronto Film Festival. “I just thought, ‘Good on you, Donald.’ … Donald’s always been a fan of mine, and he’s been to my concerts many, many times. So, I mean, I’ve always been friendly toward him, and I thank him for his support. When he did that, I just thought it was hilarious. It made me laugh.”

Just days after Joe Biden launched yet another attack against Benjamin Netanyahu, blaming the Israeli prime minister for a lack of a ceasefire deal in Gaza, Hamas made the president and his vice president look like fools again. According to the most recent reporting, the latest of several possible agreements has fallen through. Is it because Israel refused to make vast concessions to a terrorist group? Once more, the answer is no. Instead, Yahya Sinwar, the political and military head of Hamas, has scuttled the deal with another last-second bait-and-switch. For nine months, Biden and Harris have claimed a ceasefire deal was just around the corner.

It’s really disgusting behavior, because this is how you descend into a complete banana republic with military coups and military rule,” Ravikant told Kelly on a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly Show. Now that she is running for president in a political moment when victimhood is currency, Vice President Kamala Harris paints herself as being brought up on the “streets” — complete with fake accents as part of her bit. However, unfortunately for that narrative, the politics editor at Breitbart News (me) happens to have grown up in the same neighborhood Harris lived in from when she was 12 to 18 and can report that calling herself “middle class” is definitely a stretch. On Labor Day, Harris put on one of her myriad fake dialects to address a working-class crowd in Detroit, Michigan. However, it is virtually impossible

CNN’s enthusiastic Senior Data Reporter Harry Enten said Friday that the presidential contest is historically tight and that the slightest shift in momentum could alter the outcome. Moreover, he added, if Donald Trump outperforms current polling by a mere point—which is certainly possible, if not likely, given recent presidential elections—he’ll be strolling into the Oval Office in January 2025. Polls in 2016 and 2020 consistently—and famously—underestimated Trump’s support. Enten pointed out that no race has been this tight in decades, a fact which has to be giving cause for the former president to smile while drawing mournful frowns from Team Kamala.

The Democrats' razor thin control of the Senate is not looking very solid at this point. The latest good news for Senate Republicans comes in the form of an AARP poll out of Montana which shows Republican candidate Tim Sheehy leading Democrat Jon Tester by 8 points. Vulnerable Democratic Sen. Jon Tester trails his GOP opponent by 8 points in a new independent poll of Montana’s Senate race — a result that could very well tip control of the Senate to Republicans. Republican Tim Sheehy took 49 percent of the vote, compared to Tester’s 41 percent,

Putin expressed a preference for Harris while he was attending the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Thursday. “I told you our favorite, if you can call it that, was the current President Mr. Biden. He was removed from the race, but he recommended all his supporters to support Ms. Harris. So we will do the same. We will support her,” Putin said.

Massive protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the wake of the news of the murder of six hostages by Hamas faded by the end of the week in Israel — though weekly protests will continue on a smaller scale. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets last Sunday and Monday, as Israelis absorbed the news of the horrific mass murder. Some hostage families and left-wing activists blamed Netanyahu for the failure to reach a hostage deal with Hamas — even though Netanyahu had agreed to terms suggested by the Biden administration. The country’s labor union federation, called for a general strike,

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, a lifelong Republican, will vote for Kamala Harris for president, his daughter Liz Cheney said Friday. (snip) In a campaign ad for Liz Cheney as she sought a fourth term as Wyoming’s lone congressperson, Dick Cheney called Trump a “coward” for trying to “steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him.” The ad did little good for his daughter in a deep-red state that once held the Cheney family dear but is now thoroughly in Trump’s corner. By a 2-to-1 margin, Liz Cheney lost her Republican primary to Trump-endorsed attorney Harriet Hageman.

There are many people who still do not quite fully understand and accept the role of the Intelligence Community (IC) in the manipulation of American politics. Perhaps this recent announcement by Liz Cheney and her father, Dick Cheney the former Defense Secretary, will awaken a few more. Go back to the 2016 election and the rise of outsider, then candidate Donald Trump. There was one other genuine outsider in the race, Ben Carson. Who was moved into position as Carson’s campaign manager during that well-documented “splitter strategy” effort to install the Hillary Clinton/Jeb Bush illusion of choice? Answer: Mary Cheney. Yes, the IC has a lot of ways to wrap their tentacles

He’s also been a lifelong Democrat, which has been head-scratching to me. I sometimes wish I could ask, “How can you be a lifelong Democrat—did you hear what you yourself just said?”

Hunter, it seems, just can’t get a break. First, he gets convicted of all three counts on an illegal gun purchase. That doesn’t sound like much but it carries a potential 25-year sentence. Bad luck, that conviction. This week, his trial for tax evasion was to begin. At the last minute, he trotted out a scheme where he pleads guilty without admitting guilt. (It’s a lawyer thing.) The prosecutors were having none of it, and the judge was skeptical. So then, Hunter just entered a straight guilty plea on all nine counts. They carry a potential 17-year sentence. If he were sentenced to the maximum on both the gun and the tax charges,

Chicago Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg wrote this week that he’d sooner see the world rid of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu than the terror group Hamas. "If I had a choice between getting rid of Hamas and getting rid of Netanyahu, I’d choose Netanyahu," Steinberg said,

Bryan's widow claims that Shaknovsky mistakenly removed his liver instead of his spleen. “Dr. Shaknovsky removed Mr. Bryan’s liver and, in so doing, transected the major vasculature supplying the liver, causing immediate and catastrophic blood loss resulting in death,” the statement from the law firm said. “The surgeon proceeded with labeling the removed liver specimen as a 'spleen,' and it wasn’t until following the death

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley on Friday said that Judge Juan Merchan’s decision to delay former President Donald Trump’s sentencing could be an effort to avoid boosting his campaign. Merchan had scheduled Trump’s sentencing for Sept. 18, but on Friday, he postponed the date to Nov. 26 “if necessary,” according to his order. Turley, on “America Reports,” claimed that Merchan’s rulings against Trump during his case were advantageous to his reelection bid, suggesting that maintaining the September sentencing date would have further intensified support for the former president.
