Due to mounting dissatisfaction with the political establishment throughout the European Union, right-wing parties have made significant gains in the recent European Parliament elections. Perhaps most surprisingly, this surge in seats won was fueled not only by traditional older conservatives but also by younger voters who have sought to rekindle the spirit of nationalism within their homelands. Before the European Parliament elections, 32 percent of French 18-to-25-year-olds said they’d vote for the “far right” National Rally party, closely reflecting the eventual election outcome. Led by Marine Le Pen,

The formation of the European Union was a huge mistake. The reasons given of a common currency and open borders was a scam meant to shift power to a bigger central government that went predictably leftist and dictatorial. Now they want to punish countries for not allowing unchecked illegal immigration. The United States under the Obama and Biden administrations was stupid enough to follow that policy.

democracy - a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state
Yet, most of the people (voters) in these countries are NOT happy with the decisions of the elite. To the elite, "democracy" is what THEY, the elite, want. Their goals. They claim that is democratic because they represent the majority of people. But we are seeing that is NOT TRUE. If the people vote for change in goals or representatives, BY DEFINITION, the outcome is democratic.
Further, democracy is not a set of ideals of a certain type. Democracy is what the MAJORITY of voters want.
As long as the people vote for something, if it is in accordance with existing law, it is democratic to do it.
As long as people are free to vote for something, or for the representatives they want, democracy is NOT threatened, even if numerous previous policies are reversed or modified as a result.

It finally dawns on the People that the EU was never about serving as a 'democracy'. It was all about creating a 'Euristocracy'. That is, a new collection of self-important, wealthy, selfish grandees, to boss around the commoners, live like the nobility of the Ancien Regime, while pretending to serve the ordinary people...whom they disdain.

The "Far right" in Europe isn't. 99% of these are not even far enough right to agree with most conservative Republicans. More like centralist Republicans.

I hate how they label it the "far right". I say hard left wing every chance I get everywhere. They manipulate the English langue.

Re #6, most Americans remember the short, sanitized version of the French Revolution, the version where the Evil King is dethroned, and all the fine peasants live happily ever after in peace and harmony. Unfortuantely,
the Old Disney version is not reality.
I suggest a more detailed reading of the history of the French Revolution should include Robespierre, the Terrors, and killing 27,000 people by guillotine or just dying in prison. Massive killing sprees of those that disagreed with the "Committee of Safety".
There was a three year period of hell and extreme violence where no one was safe, and huge numbers of petty grudges were settled by accusing the guy next door of some crime....and off to the guillotine for him, and you get his stuff, or whatever the original disagreement was.
Rights to trials were eliminated, or curtailed, it was a hideous time.
This is part of the reason that I really don't want a civil war 2.0. Things get out of hand, big time and the worst people often come to power, and wind up doing very bad things.
The short and simple "clean out the crooked folks, send them to the guillotine" sounds attractive at times of exasperation, but history shows that it often turns out very differently than our Revolution. Our Civil War 1.0 was plenty bad enough, 2.0 is entirely unpredictable. Unfortunately, the other side gets to have a huge impact on what happens, and one side not wanting a war may have no bearing on the path we find ourselves on.

The "Left" that took over and is now in charge of Western governments is not the "Left" at all, as we traditionally understood them. They turned language inside out: violence is speech, speech is violence, cops are criminals, criminals are saints. Hiding behind their redefined language, the Left was transmutated into the new, Twentieth Century Globalist Fascism, a new small-m marxist fascism that rejects nation states, individual rights, and everything Western and Christian. Anyone who disagrees with them or objects in any way to any aspect of their evil death-cult plans for us is branded "Far Right," anti-Semitic, racist, misogynistic, ethnocentric, and anti-democratic. Any "news" outlet throwing around the term "Far Right" is suspect.

The EU government turned out to be a bunch of lying corrupt elitest thieves taking away people's wealth, rights, and freedoms. Those same people noticed. Hopefully the same happens in the United States.

Indeed, poster # 10! The actual extremists are as you say. . .the New Fascists, i.e. the former left. How do the young dweebs like to say things nowadays? Oh yeah, the New Normal! As everyone can see the "new normal" is upside down, backwards, and just downright evil.

The United States, done deliberately by our Forefathers, is a Republic, not a democracy.
Remember the classic definition of a democracy: Two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner. The French Revolution is a massive example of that. The EU dissolved the idea of separate states determining their own direction, resulting in the Elitist Masters ruling over the masses. The reversal of Roe v. Wade is an example of what a Republic truly means. Thank God. Now, let's take a minute to read the 10th Amendment. The leftists loons secretly hate this one even more than the 2nd amendment.

We see the term "far-right" in American media all the time, as if that is something bad. How come the same media never use the term "far-left"?

The left has developed an annoying habit of whining about democracy, but they clearly have no understanding of what democracy is. And the people they lord themselves over have finally come to realize that they've been conned by a bunch of charlatans who actual mission is to obtain as much power as possible while at the same time making everyone else's lives as miserable as possible.

Re #8, you are spot on. It was a major miracle that the American Revolution didn't spiral down into the chaos, terror, and extreme tyranny of most revolutions, given that revolutions nearly always prove that any revolutionary cure is worse than the original disease.
I attribute the American miracle largely to these unique circumstances:
1) the fact that by 1776 Americans already had 150-170 years' experience under their belt in (for the most part) self-government
2) the colonies had a fairly stable middle class that valued property rights
3) American leaders had a strong background in history and the various types of government, understanding which systems failed (and why), and which system allowed for the most prosperity and freedom
Our founding fathers (and yes, even our founding mothers!) had deep and abiding insights into the imperfections of human nature, and we are so blessed that they were able to craft a political system that could make allowances for these imperfections and still work.
We shall see if our present generation can match that wisdom and ensure that the American experiment can not only survive but thrive...
