Biden campaign calls on GOP to drop lawsuits

President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign on Thursday called on top Republicans to drop litigation seeking to curtail aspects of mail balloting now that Donald Trump has begun to embrace the method. Trump for years falsely claimed voting by mail was riddled with fraud, but his 2024 campaign began a program this month to encourage mail voting if convenient for people. It is part of Republicans’ attempt to increase mail voting among their supporters. At the same time, the Republican National Committee, newly under the former president’s control, has sued or joined lawsuits seeking to limit certain aspects of mail voting.

"Biden campaign calls on GOP to drop lawsuits over mail ballots, citing Trump’s new fondness for it" No. Absentee ballots should be strictly limited. Military. Work, on election day, not year. Medical. Like government, the least fraud is the best fraud. The recent poll showing "innocent" fraud of 20% of respondents is already way too high. And, that's before the organized "criminal" fraud of ballot harvesting.

Agree with #1 the only people who should be voting by mail is military. That's the only time I ever voted by mail in absentee ballot. Every other election I got my lazy butt in gear and went to vote in person, on election day. Mail in ballots, early in-person voting is just inviting 'shenanigans'.

FTA: "Trump’s lies regarding mail ballots were a centerpiece of his false claims that voter fraud cost him the 2020 election, a falsehood that helped spur the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol." That is as much of the article as I was willing to read. AP is getting smarter about showing their extreme bias though. They now wait until later in articles to start spreading democrat lies as if they were indisputable truths.

Absentee ballots are a necessity for those of us who travel constantly for our jobs. (Truckers, for instance, fit this category.) In my state the process is complicated, as it should be in every state.

Agree that the only people who should be voting by mail is military. Started to add disabled vets, however, the last general election here, my friend reported that voting machines were set up at her nursing home. There are several disabled NamVets in that facility, several who had left our high school to enlist then!

Mail-in balloting might be acceptable IF: 1. Voter roles have been properly purged of former voters who have moved away or are deceased; 2. The time limits for early voting have been severely limited to a week or so before voting day; 3. Counting of late-arriving ballots is severely curtailed, instead of extended by leftist state courts, in contravention of existing legislative law; 4. The signature and identification protections of mail-in ballots are strictly followed. In 2020, most mail-in ballots were not even signature-verified, or the vote-counting machines were tinkered with to allow a wide variance between actual signatures on file and phony, fraudulent signatures on ballots; and 5. The vote-counting staff of major metropolitan districts in swing states were not limited to ultra-leftist employees and volunteers; 6. The vote counting centers were not "shut down" overnight, sending the vote-counting witnesses home, while supervisory personnel continued to feed ballots into machines through the night; and 7. No trucks, vans, or other vehicles are allowed to bring in boxes and pallets of ballots in the dead of night, when the vote-counting centers are supposedly locked down.

Due to mounting dissatisfaction with the political establishment throughout the European Union, right-wing parties have made significant gains in the recent European Parliament elections. Perhaps most surprisingly, this surge in seats won was fueled not only by traditional older conservatives but also by younger voters who have sought to rekindle the spirit of nationalism within their homelands. Before the European Parliament elections, 32 percent of French 18-to-25-year-olds said they’d vote for the “far right” National Rally party, closely reflecting the eventual election outcome. Republicans gave differing accounts of former President Donald Trump’s alleged remark Thursday that Milwaukee “is a horrible city” — but the congresswoman whose question provoked the comment told The Post the context was clear. The Internet exploded Thursday morning when Punchbowl News’ Jake Sherman reported Trump, in a Capitol Hill meeting with House GOP members, said, “Milwaukee, where we are having our convention, is a horrible city.” A slew of Wisconsin congressmen present for the remarks challenged the reporting, but even they gave conflicting statements: Some said he was referring to election integrity, while one said he was talking about crime, and two declared he’d never said it at all.

There were a couple of truly wild moments in Joe Biden press conference at the G7 in Italy. First, there was his weird answer to a question about Hunter when he said, "I am satisfied that I'm not gonna do anything I said," before saying he would abide by the jury decision and wouldn't pardon his son. Well, yes, we know Biden doesn't do what he says -- nice he admits it. But what was he talking about there? What a strange remark. He subsequently also said he wouldn't commute the sentence, according to reports.

President Joe Biden’s reelection ad campaign contains a boatload of misinformation and disinformation. Will the censors shut it down? Will the media alert their readers and viewers to the falsehoods? We all know the answers to those questions. The political left is obsessed with shutting down any speech that doesn’t agree with its narrative. And it has successes to show for it. The Twitter files are the preeminent example. There exists a censorship-industrial complex, “a state-sponsored system targeting ‘disinformation,’” says journalist Matt Taibbi, who had access to the Twitter files, that strike “at the essence of the right to free speech.”

Imagine a Jan. 6-style crisis, only this time with serious (as opposed to politically manufactured) disagreements over whether the presidential candidate who won a key state is entitled to its electoral votes. That disturbing scenario just became a little bit more likely — not for the next presidential election but subsequent ones. Without fanfare, Minnesota’s governor signed legislation last month that would award the state’s 10 presidential electors to the national popular-vote winner even if he or she lost Minnesota. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact purports to take effect once states carrying 270 electoral votes (the minimum needed to win the presidency) have agreed to its terms.
