Given the state of affairs in Ukraine and the Middle East and the rise of China as a chief U.S. adversary, one would assume that the Department of Defense has its hands full combating real threats to U.S. national security. One would also assume that under the fraught geopolitics of the current world, the Department of Defense (DoD) would be harnessing its precious resources toward identifying future menaces that literally pose an existential threat to the security of the United States. [snip]
the leaders of the DoD think otherwise. In fact, the DoD believes that the climate crisis is a “national security priority.”

The mystery of the swarm of drones seen in New Jersey and other northeastern states for at least the last month still hasn't been solved and is at the top of the news cycle as we head into the weekend (as expertly covered by our own Ward Clark), and finally, President-Elect Donald Trump has weighed in on the topic. Trump made a simple statement on Truth Social: (Truth) He wrote:
Mystery Drone sightings all over the Country. Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I don’t think so! Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!! DJT

President-elect Donald Trump is weighing a bid to save the failing Waldorf-Astoria hotel in Washington, DC – and rebrand it once more as a Trump International Hotel, The Post has learned.
Three sources familiar with the situation said that the incoming commander-in-chief’s company, the Trump Organization, is weighing options that include a licensing deal or even possibly buying back the lease on the government-owned, 125-year-old Old Post Office building.
“Our family has saved the hotel once. If asked, we would save it again,” Eric Trump told The Post in an exclusive interview. (Photo) The luxury lodge at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. – just a few blocks away

The re-election of Donald Trump has created overwhelming angst among the press. With Trump, they have been like the opposite of the Humpty Dumpty rhyme. The media are all the king’s horses and all the king’s men -- and they couldn’t tear Humpty Dumpty apart. All of their screeching about his menace only makes him successful.
Longtime CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl engaged in conversation at the 92nd Street Y in New York City with columnist Peggy Noonan, and they both agreed the legacy media are "fraying" – for 20 years, Noonan insisted.
"I'm extremely worried about the press," Stahl said, as she dragged out her usual story about Trump

Mr. Patel detailed how Paul Ryan rigged his Russiagate investigation before he even started it in an exclusive post for TGP here.

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) claims he saw “large drones” in the sky above his Davidsonville home, located roughly 25 miles from Washington, DC, and called for the federal government to “immediately address” the ongoing issue of reported drone sightings.
In a post on X, Hogan explained that he had “observed” the unidentified drone activity for “approximately 45 minutes.” Hogan criticized the “White House, the military, the FBI” and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for saying they don’t know “what they are” or “where they came from,” while also saying “they pose no threat.”

German authorities said on Friday that unidentified drones had been spotted flying over sensitive military and industrial sites.
Among the sites was the US air base at Ramstein in the western state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The sightings were first reported by Germany's Der Spiegel magazine.
It cited a report from German security authorities saying that several drone sightings were registered over the Ramstein base late on December 3 and 4.
Der Spiegel said that unidentified drones were also sighted over facilities belonging to German arms maker Rheinmetall.
Unidentified drones were also seen over the Brunsbüttel area of northern Schleswig-Holstein state in August.

Texas attorney general Ken Paxton is suing a New York doctor for prescribing abortion pills to a Texas resident, despite not having a medical license in the Lone Star State.
The civil lawsuit, filed Thursday and announced Friday, alleges Dr. Margaret Carpenter provided abortion-inducing drugs to a 20-year-old woman in Collin County, Texas. State law forbids a physician or medical provider from mailing abortion pills and prescribing drugs through telemedicine without being licensed in that state. The out-of-state doctor is not being served criminal charges.

The silence over the Jan. 6, 2021, pipe bomb incident is deafening. The radio silence on what we've been assured are "viable" pipe bombs planted outside the DNC and near the RNC on J6 continued in the Inspector General's report when he offered only a few treacly paragraphs on the issue. Keeping the pipe bomb issue on the DL raises the spidey senses of those who believe that the pipe bomb incidents, far from being a J6 sideshow, were a planned diversion by — who, exactly? — to stop the Electoral College counting when Republican senators were to be offering proof of shady ballot counting

New, shocking revelations have emerged regarding the USCP officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt on January 6th, 2021. According to a new report, then-Lt. Michael Byrd, who claims to have saved "countless lives" that day, was paid tens of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money after the shooting and even demanded cash from a memorial fund meant for the families of slain officers.
The report also reveals Byrd's long history of professional misconduct. Naturally, after a House Oversight subcommittee requested more information, the USCP claimed it could not find any records associated with the officer's disciplinary record. One Internal Affairs investigation involved him leaving his post to play cards.

Hilarious footage captured the moment Jill Biden's holiday cheer was quickly shot down by a child who corrected her Christmas greeting.
The First Lady greeted children at the White House on Friday to mark the festive season at the Marine Corps' 'Toys for Tots' event, welcoming military families: 'Hello! How are you? Happy Holidays!'
'Happy Christmas!' a young boy shot back.
Jill grinned at the riposte, correcting herself: 'Happy Christmas, yes.'
The interaction recalls a culture wars clash that seemingly sparked up during the Obama Administration, as conservatives accuse liberals of watering down the Christian holiday.

At Brookings Biden regurgitated the talking points he has cited in support of his economic record. Biden was introduced by Brookings co-chairman Glenn Hutchins and, more briefly, by Brookings president Cecilia Rouse. From 2021 to 2023, Rouse served as Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers. According to her, “inequality and climate change” are what it’s all about.

On the left, everything is violent except violence. We see this often in the context of speech, but Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez extended the universe of violence to include denial of health insurance coverage:
“This is not to say that an act of violence is justified, but I think for anyone who is confused or shocked or appalled, they need to understand that people interpret and feel and experience denied claims as an act of violence against them,” the congresswoman told CBS News’ Jaala Brown on Thursday.
Ocasio-Cortez is an unusually dull-witted person, but even she should understand that shooting someone in the back is violent. Turning down an insurance claim might be correct

Scorched earth is one of the most brutal strategies in war. It can be an offensive or a defensive strategy and usually leaves a wasteland of destruction and starvation in its wake. It seems that Joe Biden, on his way out of the Oval Office, is using this strategy against America.
One of the most famous examples of an offensive use of scorched earth is Sherman’s “March to the Sea“ from Atlanta to Savannah from November to December 1864. Sherman not only burned Atlanta to the ground, but he also left a trail of destruction for a wide swath all the way to the ocean, everything from military targets to infrastructure

I told you here about Pfizer’s abstract of its Interim Report 5, showing at least 23-40% higher risk of some heart-related conditions in the vaccinated, but that the MHRA, the U.K. medicines regulator, was withholding publication of the full report. As I said at the time : “In summary, if, as I suspect, MHRA is worried by the results in Pfizer’s ‘Interim Report 5’ then no wonder it is sitting on it.”
Well, MHRA is still sitting on the report but I’ve managed to obtain a copy. It looks like I was right –

It’s not just that Donald Trump is the once and future president, while Kamala Harris has already shuffled off to the Mike Dukakis Home for Embarrassingly Failed Democratic Candidates, where she can share box wine and catty remarks with Hillary Clinton.
It’s that the entire energy of the nation, and maybe the world, has changed overnight.
From the Daniel Penny exoneration, to the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris before all the leaders of the West — including Donald Trump, but notably excluding Joe Biden — to the triumphant flights of Starship and a sudden shift in relations with previously difficult neighbor countries like Mexico and Canada,

On Sept. 27, an Inland Empire resident drove away from her job at an area hospital when her pickup truck puttered to a stop. An investigation showed her tank had been drilled and emptied.
A Valero Station in Fremont lost tens of thousands of gallons of diesel to thieves using a device to bypass pump security and transfer fuel into a specially configured pickup truck on July 10.
On July 2, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office charged two men with an alleged fuel theft scheme involving $90,000.00 in diesel fuel thefts.
On March 1, East Bay law enforcement reported a “rash of destructive gas thefts by drilling gas tanks.”

Senators should reject Schumer’s last-minute attempt to pack the NLRB and allow Trump to nominate pro-worker advocates to the open positions.Chuck Schumer recently announced that one of his “highest priorities” is to confirm Joe Biden’s nominees to the National Labor Relations Board before his party loses control of the Senate. He’s slated to make good on that promise on Wednesday, as a cloture vote on an NLRB renomination is scheduled to take place soon.If Schumer secures another five-year term for NLRB Chair Lauren McFerran, Biden nominees will control the Labor Board until at least August 2026. A Texas judge representing a county flipped by Donald Trump in this year's presidential race announced he is leaving the Democratic Party to become a Republican on Tuesday.
Trump, who defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in November, made substantial gains this year in South Texas, home to a high Latino population that has traditionally leaned toward voting Democratic.
Nationwide, he cut into Democrats' margins in several voting groups -- including among Latino, Asian and young voters -- leaving the Democratic Party questioning how it can regain trust from these communities in upcoming elections.

Donald Trump must move hard and fast to get his agenda enacted. He’s going to be opposed not only by the bureaucrats of the Deep State but by, to some extent, the courts, congressional Democrats, and soft Republicans. Fortunately, President Trump, as chief executive – the unitary executive – has tremendous authority. He and his appointees, as well as Republicans in Congress, must use it. They will feel considerable pressure to be soft and weak, not only from the regime media but from the spineless establishmentarians. They must reject it, and fully exercise the power the American people have granted them.

Sen. John Kennedy’s exchange with Retired Army Maj. Gen. Randy Manner during a recent Senate hearing was nothing short of epic. Kennedy, a master of political discourse, delivered a blistering takedown of Manner’s past comments on President Trump and his supporters during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday. Manner was testifying about the incoming administration’s plans for mass deportations of criminal illegal aliens.Manner began his opening statement by highlighting his 35 years of service in the military, including roles such as Deputy Commanding General of the United States Third Army in Kuwait and Acting Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau.

President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter Biden – with years attached for personal reasons – still bothers me in a number of ways. Here’s a guy who went back on his promise not only to lawmakers but also to the American people. All for the sake of protecting his son’s hide, as well as his own.
But I think some recent comments provided by Federal District Judge Mark C. Scarsi really sum up the big problem with the pardon, which took place early last week.Speaking with NBC News earlier in the week, Scarsi, who was also working on Biden’s then-tax case,

Zachary Young, a former private contractor who facilitated evacuating individuals out of Afghanistan, brought a major defamation lawsuit against CNN. As we have been reporting, the case against the network for defaming Young’s work as “illegal” and “exploitative” by reporter Alex Marquardt and featured on Jake Tapper’s show was questioned within the ranks of CNN for lacking proper verification. Internal communications have indicated a strong slant towards provable malice, which the courts have agreed warrants a jury trial.

Dominic Cummings is an unusual man. When I first saw his name, in Tim Shipman’s book Brexit: All Out War, I imagined him as a sort of vast Chesterton or Mycroft Holmes figure, doing everything by the power of mind. But then I saw a picture: and he looked more like a Dickensian character, Traddles or Clennam or someone. Funny, since his critique is that of Dickens in Little Dorrit, that the art of government, regrettably, is “How Not To Do It”.
Cummings is unusual for being both a cog in the machinery of the state and also a spanner in the works of the state.

National Guard soldiers’ mission to help New York City’s overburdened migrant shelters will be “completed” next week, The Post has learned.
The deployment of New York Army National Guard troops — which began in 2022 — will stop assisting city officials in shelters starting Dec. 18 as the migrant crisis cools off, state officials revealed Thursday.
All troops in migrant shelters across the state will be sent home by March 31, according to orders obtained by The Post that note “mission completed.”

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has reportedly launched a behind-the-scenes effort to thwart Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) bid to serve as the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.
Pelosi, 84, would rather see Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) serve as ranking member on the high-profile panel and is “actively working to tank” the 35-year-old New York Democrat’s bid, according to Punchbowl News.
The former House speaker has been “making calls” urging Democrats to support Connolly, 74, over Ocasio-Cortez, the outlet reported on Thursday.

Washington— Chinese leader Xi Jinping would likely see President-elect Donald Trump’s invitation to attend his inauguration as too risky to accept, and the gesture from Trump may have little bearing on the increasingly competitive ties between the two nations as the White House changes hands, experts say.
Trump’s incoming press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, confirmed on Thursday that Trump extended an invitation to the Jan. 20 ceremony. The Chinese Embassy in Washington said it had no information to provide. But experts don’t see Xi coming to Washington next month.

President-elect Donald Trump had a banner day Thursday, ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange surrounded by his family and he was declared the "Person of the Year" by Time Magazine. After all the things he has faced, it was a triumphal moment. The NYSE loved it and launched into chants of "USA! USA!" after he rang the bell. On top of that, the leftist fits about it were the cherry on the top.
The Democrats are going to have a long four years. As part of the "Person of the Year" process, the person selected also does an interview with the magazine.

MSNBC host Joy Reid claimed Thursday on “The ReidOut” that President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet is like the characters in the bar featured in the 1977 movie “Star Wars.”
During a discussion on Trump’s defense secretary pick, Pete Hegseth, Reid said, “The people you used to work for in the United States Senate, they also know that and yet, what you’re seeing is senators capitulating in advance and essentially saying, yes, sir, we’ll take a knee to you. Whatever you want, sir. Including this bizarre cabinet, like a Star Wars Cabinet. They are just conceding.”

One of Google's billionaire founders is the latest tech giant to cozy up to Donald Trump, dining with the president-elect at his Mar-a-Lago home on Thursday night, according to multiple sources.
It is a remarkable turnaround for Sergey Brin, who described Trump's 2016 win as 'deeply offensive.'
But it shows how the online aristocracy is having to set aside their worries to grapple with a new reality. Details of his visit emerged hours after Facebook's parent company Meta and Amazon revealed they were giving $1million to Trump's inauguration fund.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have set new records on illegal immigration and legal immigration in fewer than four years.
Analysis from the Migration Policy Institute reveals that from Fiscal Year 2021 through Fiscal Year 2024, the Biden administration awarded naturalized American citizenship to almost 3.5 million legal immigrants. This is “by far the most of any single presidential term,” MPI reports. For perspective, the number of legal immigrants who secured naturalized American citizenship under Biden eclipses those who got citizenship under former Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, combined.

On September 15, Ryan Wesley Routh was trying to assassinate now-President-elect Donald J. Trump as he was golfing at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. He hid in the bushes for 12 hours, armed with a scoped SKS-style rifle and GoPro. Trump got within 300-500 yards of Mr. Routh, who was in range to take a shot. Blessedly, he didn’t. A Secret Service agent saw a rifle barrel pointing out of the shrubbery and opened fire, engaging Routh, who fled the scene. He was arrested by local police later. Yet, while this was the correct course of action in protecting Mr. Trump, it’s a bit startling,

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Iranian people in a speech Thursday in which he urged them to rise up against their government, and promised them a future of peace and prosperity when Iran is free.
The speech, Netanyahu’s third in recent months, came as Israel reportedly considered plans to attack Iran’s nuclear program, which is vulnerable after Israel destroyed almost 90% Syria’s air defenses after the fall of the Assad regime this week.
Israel also destroyed Iran’s air defenses in an attack in October, which was a response to a massive ballistic missile attack by Iran earlier that month. Iran also attacked

The winners of this year’s Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute “Peace Through Strength Award” are none other than Biden administration Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
Austin, who has been criticized for implementing “woke” military policies as the Department of Defense (DOD) leader, and McConnell, who just went through yet another major health scare while on the job at the Capitol, were recognized for their “extraordinary contributions to the state of our national defense” in a press release from the Reagan institute.
