President-elect Donald Trump wants to turn the lights out on daylight saving time. [Snip] “The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation,” he wrote. [Snip] Some health groups, including the American Medical Association and American Academy of Sleep Medicine, have said that it’s time to do away with time switches and that sticking with standard time aligns better with the sun--and human biology.

Yes please. The practice of Daylight Savings Time was adopted in 1942 as a wartime measure. / Daylight Savings Time Quotes: Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket. — Anonymous / “Daylight time, a monstrosity in timekeeping.” — Harry S. I like Daylight Savings Time. It's less important now that I am retired and can operate on whatever timetable I want, but I loved it especially when I could get a lot done after work in the summers.

Daylight Savings Time needs to end. Businesses and other organizations may need to and can adjust their own hours to suit their customers and employees.

I would adjust to whatever the clock says within one year. Just make it always go through the same 24 hours, every ay of the year. If I want an extra hour in the afternoon I will stop working an hour earlier. (In fact, I always have work to do, no matter the time.)

I propose the entire world shift to GMT. So what if you go to bed at 8am instead of 10 pm. If it's dark outside, go to sleep. The nations of the world would adjust accordingly. Come on UN, do something worthwhile for a change.

This is great news. Standard time is the one that most closely aligns with nature and human circadian rhythm. If we kept Standard Time all year, the change into fall and winter would be more gradual and not so alarming with less daylight for those who have a hard time adjusting. Same with spring, as we wouldn’t suddenly be thrown into more daylight.

Even the name is a lie - - Daylight SAVING Time. Hey, you jackasses - - you don't have the power to SAVE daylight. Only God does! All you can do is shift the clock around. It's Daylight SHIFTING Time - - not SAVING. We don't need the gummint to tell us what time it is. The whole thing is a useless farce.

I hope that is one of the first things he does. DST is not needed in NV. We have enough light and high temperatures without it. So does AZ, but they are smarter than NV because they just change from one zone to another without having to change the clocks twice a year. Please do this Pres. Trump.

All the cheerleaders for DST care about in "muh longer daylight." So it gets dark at 5:00 EST instead of 6:00 DST. What are you going to do with that "extra hour" in December? Permanent daylight saving time makes already late winter sunrises an hour later. The sun wouldn’t rise before 8 a.m. at my latitude for almost four months, The latest sunrise would happen at 8:43 am. The farther north you live the later it would rise. Stick with standard time.

Now that the kids are all grown and I am at the other end of the scale, I find that my body takes longer and longer to adjust to the change to DST and I have more sleep problems during DST than during Standard Time.
