U.S. District Judge Peter Sheridan’s 69-page opinion says he was compelled to rule as he did because of the Supreme Court’s rulings in firearms cases, particularly the 2022 Bruen decision that expanded gun rights.
Sheridan’s ruling left both 2nd Amendment advocates and the state attorney general planning appeals. The judge temporarily delayed the order for 30 days.
Pointing to the high court’s precedents, Sheridan suggested Congress and the president could do more to curb gun-related violence nationwide.

House Republicans are opening an investigation into President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' role in the controversial plea deal offered to three of the 9/11 masterminds.
On Wednesday three of the five men who allegedly played pivotal roles in the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001 reached an agreement that would see them detained for life but avoid the death penalty.

McCarthy appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” to discuss the Democratic Party’s support around Harris as the new presumptive presidential nominee. McCarthy told Fox News Host Jesse Watters how Democratic House members told him that not only did they “not like Harris,” but she allegedly “didn’t work with them” during her time as a Democratic California senator.

A whistleblower alleged that Secret Service acting Director Ronald Rowe personally cut security resources and “retaliated” against agents with security concerns leading up to former President Donald Trump’s rally on July 13, according to a letter released Thursday.
The whistleblower alleged that Rowe personally implemented “significant cuts” to the Counter Surveillance Division (CSD), which does advanced threat assessments for venues, and alleged that agents who expressed security concerns were “retaliated against,” according to Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley’s letter to Rowe. As a result, the CSD failed to perform its “typical evaluation” of the rally venue in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and “was not present on the day” of the attempted assassination.

Give full marks for integrity to the Wall Street Journal for this biting report on a prisoner swap they've long advocated. Their own reporter, Evan Gershkovich, got released after nearly 500 days of captivity over absurd espionage charges for reporting on Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine. The WSJ has every reason to paint the complicated, multi-national exchange in an entirely positive light.
