Yet another foolish union demand. The unemployed don't pay union dues and eventually they realize their union sold them out.

Perfect example of shoddy reporting. Article states opposing 'facts': Businesses cite raising prices, losing customers, firing workers, store closures and bankruptcy. But then story says data and Newsome say businesses hired thousands and everybody wants this. Reporter fails to provide further context or clarity.

With all respect, this article is not shoddy. I fear that another reader confused photo captions with text. NYP tabloid took the report from KTLA, a reliable local news outlet in Los Angeles. I have been in the restaurant business. What is happening is outrageous.

#7 - I agree 100% plus more. The SEIU is a criminal organization and its principle officers should be arrested, tried and thrown into prison. Ditto for any elected official found to be "owned" by them, which would take of about 90% of our legislature!

No one talks about rising minimum wages contributing to inflation. When minimum wages go up, employers are forced to raise other wages. And wages is the primary component affecting prices.

So says George C. Scott’s Patton in the eponymous movie when his comrades want another day’s rest during the Sicilian campaign. No one is going to mistake Kamala Harris for General Patton, or even George C. Scott, but her latest tack on immigration honors his call for “audacity, audacity, always audacity.” After helping preside over a comprehensive failure at the border, a lesser politician might mumble something or other and change the subject to aborting babies. A politician with an ounce of respect for the public might at least acknowledge, before saying anything else, that “mistakes were made.”

The past 48 hours have been the most dramatic and consequential of any since Hamas’s war against Israel began on October 7, 2023. More than that: they could reverse the momentum of this war which, until now, has been dictated by the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies. On July 30, as the sun began to set in Beirut, Israel launched a precision air strike on Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah military commander. The strike took place in the Dahiyeh neighborhood, which is Hezbollah’s stronghold in the city.

Our adversaries fear strong presidents and will either try to keep them from office or yield to the inevitable. That may explain the events of the last two weeks. On July 19, 2024, at the RNC convention, Donald J. Trump accepted the Republican nomination for President. During his speech, he said: To the entire world, I tell you this: We want our hostages back, and they better be back before I assume office, or you will be paying a very big price.” There are more than 60 Americans being held hostage or wrongly detained around the world.

This is a very significant policy proposal. President Trump is supporting a position that Seniors should not pay taxes on Social Security income. This comes on the heels of President Trump supported policy that income received from service tips should not be taxed. Combined, both of these policies would result in massive numbers of middle-class Americans having more money in their bank accounts. The national economic benefits of these two combined policies are extremely significant and could actually offset the financial damage done by Joe Biden. The timing of this announcement coincides with President Trump visiting Chicago.

So, Kamala Harris is the new Democratic candidate for president. And, we’ve been told, she is incredible. Not merely serviceable, a middle innings relief pitcher brought in when your starter suddenly implodes in the third inning. She is the Mariano Rivera of politics. She’s lights-out. She’s charismatic, fascinating, quick on her feet, charming. She is, in the words of the legacy media, a historic candidate—not just because she’s a black woman, a fact that explains her lightning-fast political ascent but that only Democrats are allowed to mention, and only then in the context of explaining why America requires a black female president—but because she is, apparently, so good at this.

Haniyeh, who was one of the most senior Hamas officials, was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new president when he was killed, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced. The Revolutionary Guards did not comment on how or who killed Haniyeh, but Hamas pointed the finger at Israel, stating the leader was killed “in a Zionist airstrike on his residence in Tehran after he participated in the inauguration of Iran’s new president.”
