Shigella Spreading Fast in San Jose, CA,
Homeless Encampments

Leslie! We need you! The highly contagious bacteria Shigella has broken out in homeless encampments in San Jose, CA. It’s so contagious that communities have a hard time containing it. The bug infects people when they “come in contact with and swallow small amounts of bacteria from the stool of a person who is infected with shigella.” [Snip] The health department added more portable toilets with handwashing stations and fresh water. One homeless woman said city officials have only given them Lysol wipes. Most people recover on their own, but it’s not rare for people in vulnerable communities to need antibiotics.

Comments:

Brief research about Shigellosis gleaned from nationally reputable medical institutions indicates a Shigella infection can occur due to germs on hands and then touching food or mouth such as after changing the diaper of a sick child or caring for an ill person; touching surfaces contaminated with germs from a sick person’s fecal matter (diaper pails, changing tables, bathrooms); eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water; swimming in contaminated water.

Bring in third world diseases, then let people build the worst of third world filthy slums and guess what? You can replicate the middle ages in modern times. California is run by idiots, fools and political asshats who ignore the very basics of health care, public health laws and even just ordinary common sense.

Great, just great. Among other things, they are bringing in drug-resistant TB. That will give the CDC another opportunity to screw things up and cause more needless deaths.

The mayor should invite Mayorkas to tour the homeless camps.

Get Ready for the Islamist Summer In American

Anti-Israel protesters have been unhinged and dangerous forever, but particularly since October 7. We have documented here dozens of times the intimidation tactics, including particularly on campuses. [Snip] Anti-Israel activists, particularly in big cities, are getting more aggressive by the day, as they realize the majority of Americans are not with them, [Snip] Islamism seems to have taken control of the movement. Islamist figures are now openly glorified in the protests. [Snip] The increasingly dominant glorification and worship of Islamist movements and leaders, combined with ability to act with impunity, is a bad omen for this summer.

The reports spread by certain media outlets, stating that I presented myself yesterday, Thursday, June 20, at the Palace of the Holy Office, as intimated to me by the Decree of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, is devoid of any foundation. These reports are completely false. [Snip] I therefore wish to make it clear that I did not go to the Vatican yesterday [June 20], and that I have no intention of going to the Holy Office on June 28,... As some Catholics know, Archbishop Viganò is a hero in the eyes of many who do not enjoy the spectacle of Pope Francis’ continual and seemingly ongoing reversal of Catholic teaching and law. The hyperpolitical, leftist Pope has been, by his own words, engaged in irreversibly (he hopes) and increasingly modifying (according to his own predilections) the Catholic Church since he took papal office. Sound like anybody you know? Viganò has been consistently faithful to Canon Law and to the established teachings of the Church, [Snip] Actually, if there has been, or might be, any schism, it could sooner be laid at the door of Pope Francis himself.

The legal assaults against Trump must end 15 replies

If Donald J. Trump survives his current judicial gauntlet and emerges as President again in 2025, he must work to re-establish the rule of law and the constitutional enforcement of it. [Snip] When the Constitution was adopted, several of its supporters felt there were not enough safeguards to protect citizens from the government. They insisted on a Bill of Rights which enumerated the liberties of the citizens and limited the reach of the government. Consider these restrictions on government abuse of citizens as you watch the legal system attempt to destroy Mr. Trump.

Twitter (X) law is like the broken clock that is right twice a day. I saw multiple people tweeting that a video released by Yale Law Professor Jed Rubenfeld was a must watch on the basics and potential constitutional problems of the Trump ‘hush money’ trial guilty verdict. They were right. I know nothing about Rubenfeld, but he doesn’t come across as partisan on either side. And a lot of his arguments are consistent with the arguments we made in our Telegraph Op-Ed (though he makes them better, but in fairness, we were under a 650 word limit).

My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over. That’s what President Gerald Ford said in the East Room of the White House, 30 minutes after Richard Nixon tendered his resignation on Aug. 9, 1974. [Snip] And so on Thursday, 12 ordinary New Yorkers reported for jury duty like they had for weeks, doing their duty in an extraordinary way in the case of the People vs. Donald J. Trump and this time they ruled, for the first time in our country’s history, that a former president, was criminally guilty of committing crimes to win an election.

The horrific assault on our Republic that resulted in 34 (!!) felony convictions of former president Donald Trump has reverberated across the nation. The blight on our nation caused by every Democrat who has had a hand in the banana republic disgrace of an American president being paraded around in a clown court, a Soviet-style show trial, makes a mockery of the very foundations of this (once?) great country. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) is spear-heading a campaign among U.S. senators to stop cooperating with the corrupt Biden administration on legislative matters that do not directly affect the American people.

With Thursday's presidential debate looming, the Biden campaign has settled on a strategy: Attempt to exceed expectations. Oddly enough, that doesn't have anything to do with policy. Instead, the president's handlers are setting the stage for an "energized" Biden who can put down all the talk about his ongoing struggle with senility. More oddly, they seem rather confident he can pull it off. They're playing with fire, though. Given how much former President Donald Trump loves to get the final word in on any issue, one would assume that President Joe Biden would cherish the chance to strip his predecessor of getting a last word in, especially in a debate setting. One would assume wrong. According to CNN, which will host the first debate, Biden won a crucial coin flip ahead of the June 27 debate. The coin, which turned up tails, gave Team Biden the option to choose between either podium position or the order in which closing remarks are delivered. The incumbent, apparently, opted to lock in his podium position — a seemingly far lesser advantage

Governor Ron DeSantis’ crackdown on illegal immigrants seems to be paying off in more ways than one, according to a recent report. The governor’s multi-pronged effort to reduce illegal immigration in Florida has resulted in a significant reduction in the number of taxpayer dollars going to fund healthcare for those residing in the country illegally. The governor signed a law last year requiring hospitals that accept Medicaid to ask patients about their legal immigration status when they seek treatment. The legislation does not compel patients to answer the question, but immigrant rights groups argued that it would discourage them from receiving medical attention funded by the government.

For some reason, high-speed rail is a hot-button issue for liberals and a frequent point of criticism from Chinese communist propaganda and Europeans when they attack the U.S. “How can you call yourself a developed country when you don’t have high-speed rail?” they ask. The reality is that high-speed rail would be more expensive and less efficient than our current travel infrastructure. High-speed rail works in Europe and China because of government subsidies, higher taxes, and because people typically travel shorter distances and have fewer travel options. The U.S. has more cars per capita, more highways, more airports, and more railroads than China or the EU. Additionally, Americans prefer to drive

On Sunday's "This Week," Martha Raddatz had a panel discussion with three "experts" on the upcoming presidential debate. The panel included Frank Luntz, and what he offered up made little sense. Luntz claims that the last two presidential campaigns, beginning with Trump versus Clinton in 2016 and then Trump versus Biden in 2020, were the beginning of the end of democracy. It seems everything in politics is “the end of democracy.” Luntz claimed that personal invectives and insults are too debasing and, apparently, a sign of the end of democracy. Luntz is a pollster, not a historian. Maybe he’s unaware of the long history of politicians insulting each other.
