The jury has started deliberating in the Trump hush money case. They will work until 4:30 PM. Judge Merchan just made it easy for the jury to find Trump guilty with a unanimous vote: [Snip] Jonathan Turley: ...Merchan just delivered the coup de grace instruction. He said that there is no need to agree on what occurred. They can disagree on what the crime was among the three choices. Thus, this means that they could split 4-4-4 and he will still treat them as unanimous... [Snip] If they have questions, they will write note to judge.

Gee. I thought I was joking when I said that Trump would get a fairer trial in downtown Tehran with a jury full of Mullahs. I'd take my chances with the guys wearing turbans over this hanging judge and his hand picked jury.

And this is where we must trust a jury to nullify bad law and lawfare. Dear Jesus, please let this jury fully and wholly reject the use of the court's abuse and be furious over the waste of their time for such nonsense. P.S. It wouldn't hurt to render this corrupt judge temporarily incapacitated and unable to be on the bench, forcing a mistrial, either. Just saying...

They will find him guilty on something. Then the real show starts. What happens after that? Get ready for even more overreach by the communists.

If the fix holds, look for a short deliberation. If they stay out for a while, we may get a hung jury. Not guilty verdict is not in the cards.

If the two lawyers on the jury are not suffering from TDS, I expect a hung jury. If they are liberal plants, the worst could happen.

WHO Strikes Out with Proposed “Pandemic Treaty” 10 replies

We have been following the developments related to the pandemic treaty the World Health Organization (WHO) proposed. Legal Insurrection joined others in sounding the alarms in 2022 when it became clear that the international organization was going to use the COVID-19 pandemic response model for more power grabbing and wealth redistribution. The World Health Organization gets to define what a pandemic is, when a pandemic is in progress and how long a pandemic lasts. Then you read the fine print and you realize the W.H.O will have total authority over emergency operations in the United States if there’s ever a “public health emergency.” Huh?

A possibly disturbing development has unfolded, leading many to believe the fix is already in for a Trump conviction or imprisonment. [Snip] From CBS News: It’s a possibility that officials in state and federal agencies have begun preparing for, according to a New York corrections source, who said the Secret Service has met with local jail officials. As a former president, Trump is entitled to Secret Service protection for the rest of his life, wherever he happens to be. Behind bars, corrections officers would in turn be responsible for protecting those agents assigned to Trump.

The Democratic National Committee will move to conduct virtual party proceedings to certify President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominees before Ohio's Aug. 7 ballot certification deadline, and before their in-person convention beginning Aug. 19, the party confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday. This will take a big moment away from Biden and the party--the official nomination at convention is typically met with fanfare and celebration, but he will become the official nominee virtually, without the pomp and circumstance. The move came moments before the Ohio Senate convened on Tuesday for a special session to address Biden's ability to appear

HELSINKI (ADF International) — Former government minister and sitting Finnish parliamentarian Päivi Räsänen has submitted her defence to the Finnish Supreme Court ahead standing trial a third time for her Bible-verse tweet. The State prosecutor appealed the case despite the Christian grandmother of 12 being acquitted unanimously of “hate speech” charges before both the Helsinki District Court, and the Court of Appeal. The charges are found under the “war crimes and crimes against humanity” section of the Finnish Criminal Code. [Snip] The state’s insistence on continuing this prosecution after almost five long years, despite such clear and unanimous rulings from the lower courts is alarming.

Oberlin College ended up paying over $36 million in the Gibson’s Bakery case, after exhausting all appeals. It was not a voluntary payment, it was either that, or the Gibsons could start seizing college property. We covered that lawsuit on August 6, 2023, Oberlin College Sues Insurers For Refusing To Cover $36 Million It Paid Gibson’s Bakery For Defamation And Other Torts. We know that the FBI and DOJ made a point of conducting the Mar-a-Lago raid when they knew Trump would not be there. However, newly released documents associated with the raid empowered the FBI and DOJ agents present on the scene to shoot Donald Trump and his Secret Service detail if necessary. We don’t know if this was standard operating procedure or not, but it’s certainly concerning on its face. [Snip] Assuming that the use of deadly force statement is not the FBI’s standard operating procedure, its inclusion in the raid plan is disturbing. And even if it is SOP,

If you are the parent of young children, are you OK with your kids hearing former President Donald Trump’s language and putdowns, like the ones at his rally last Saturday in Wildwood, New Jersey? One can hear a kid justifying his or her own swearing: “If Trump can talk like that, why can’t I?” Is this the way we want our children to be raised? They will learn swear words soon enough (and hopefully control their use of them or eschew them altogether).

Former president Donald Trump was convicted on Thursday by a New York jury on 34 felony charges for falsifying business records, making him the first president in U.S. history to become a convicted felon. Over the past six weeks at the state courthouse in lower Manhattan, the prosecution sought to demonstrate that Trump, his former fixer and attorney Michael Cohen, and National Enquirer publisher David P* participated in a conspiracy to defraud voters ahead of the 2016 presidential election by paying off women to conceal embarrassing stories about the then-presidential candidate’s sexual history without properly recording those payments as campaign-finance expenses.

Most thought that Robert De Niro’s “performance” in the title role as Dirty Grandpa, where he played a lecherous, unhygienic, and maniacal grandfather, was his worst. But De Niro managed the seemingly impossible by stooping deeper into the bowels of self-humiliation that made Dirty Grandpa seem like Citizen Kane. This is when he had myriad unhinged foulmouthed public outbursts and made violent threats at various events. His target was democratically-elected President Donald Trump. De Niro’s utterances once again proved that profanity is the last resort of the vacuous. As expected, the madness was cheered in the liberal echo chambers of Hollywood and D.C. Washington — The U.S. economy grew at a sluggish 1.3% annual pace from January through March, the weakest quarterly rate since the spring of 2022, the government said Thursday in a downgrade from its previous estimate. Consumer spending rose but at a slower pace than previously thought. The Commerce Department had previously estimated that the nation’s gross domestic product — the total output of goods and services — expanded at a 1.6% rate last quarter. The first quarter’s GDP growth marked a sharp slowdown from the vigorous 3.4% rate in the final three months of 2023.

A string of security, logistical and weather problems has battered the plan to deliver desperately needed humanitarian aid to Gaza through a U.S. military-built pier. Broken apart by strong winds and heavy seas just over a week after it became operational, the project faces criticism that it hasn’t lived up to its initial billing or its $320 million price tag. U.S. officials say, however, that the steel causeway connected to the beach in Gaza and the floating pier are being repaired and reassembled at a port in southern Israel, then will be reinstalled and working again next week.
