Texas court asked to reverse pardon in
Black Lives Matter protest killing

A Texas prosecutor asked the state's highest criminal court on Tuesday to reverse a pardon granted by Governor Gregg Abbott to a former U.S. Army sergeant convicted of murder and sentenced to prison for fatally shooting a Black Lives Matter protester. Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza, a Democrat whose office tried the murder case, said he asked the state Court of Criminal Appeals for a special order, called a writ of mandamus, to overturn Abbott's action. Garza told a news briefing that Abbott violated the separation of powers doctrine of the state's constitution and failed to follow proper legal procedures in the way he pardoned Daniel Perry last month.

Comments:

This was orchestrated as cause for Biden's DOJ to pursue Federal civil rights charges against Daniel Perry.

The imbecile had no business running around Austing brandishing a loaded AK47 with a mob of rioters stopping cars and beating on them. They were doing this specifically to intimidate people. He was brandishing a loaded weapon in a threatening manner. One of the protesters also shot at the vehicle as it retreated; that is not an authorized use of deadly force since he was driving away. Yet, our yellow press makes no mention of this and the biased Travis County DA has not charged the protestor with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Compromise: pardon the dead guy. By rites the dead guy should apologize to Perry. He was wrong and he paid for it, but to assuage the cry babies, let's just pardon the dead guy.

Pardon's ARE NOT reviewable, the courts have NO POWER to cancel any Pardon, PERIOD! IF the Court tries, Abbott can "Cancel" those voting for this!

DA Garza should be arrested for prosecutorial misconduct, failing to uphold his oath of office, and be disbarred. He should also be punished for failure to uphold the law by failing to prosecute and releasing BLM and Antifa activists, and for subverting the republic of the United States of America by accepting donations from that commie-Marxist Soros.

Interesting. I was under the impression that pardons were "the end of the story" and not subject to any review. But, I'm not a lawyer and you know what they say about "assume".

The leader of Lebanese militant group Hezbollah threatened Wednesday to target the European island of Cyprus if war breaks out between Israel and Lebanon. “Cyprus will be part of this war too” if it opens its airports and bases to Israeli forces, Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised address that came just a day after Israel warned the powerful Iran-backed militant group that the prospect of “all-out war” was “getting very close.” The comments by the Hezbollah leader are the first time he has threatened Cyprus, a member of the European Union that lies in the Mediterranean sea, roughly 125 miles from Lebanon, and which has held joint military exercises

The Charter Revision Commission convened by Mayor Adams may have started as a politically motivated effort to fend off a City Council power grab — but on Monday, commissioners heard a reform proposal that could profoundly change Gotham politics for the better. The possible change sounds simple: giving nearly one million more registered voters the right to participate in primary elections. But its impact could be profound, offering New York City a way to take back local government from the hard left. Today, voters not registered to a major party are shut out of primaries, our most important local elections.

Republicans in the Michigan House of Representatives are doubling down on their opposition to a Democrat-led bill, which could put the state’s 15 electoral votes in line with the national popular vote in presidential elections. The effort comes as other states have passed measures looking to align themselves with the national popular vote, rather than their own state’s popular vote, as a way to change the way a president is elected. Seventeen states and the District of Columbia have already agreed to a compact which would have them vote in line with the popular vote, rather than their respective jurisdiction’s popular vote,

Crime in California has become a nationwide cautionary tale, but California's elected leaders, from Governor Gavin Newsom to Attorney General Rob Bonta to the Democrat Supermajority legislature, have done little except put a new paint job on a red-tagged building. From blue sky initiatives like high-tech surveillance to banning self-checkout, none of these addresses the root issue: people who do the crime in California rarely do the time. There are no consequences for criminal behavior; therefore, there is no reason not to escalate that behavior. Ergo, crime continues to be rampant. After decades of this, Californians have taken matters into their own hands.

General Motors cut its annual EV production forecast and announced a new $6 billion share buyback plan on Tuesday, as the automaker banks on demand from its gasoline-powered models. GM now projects the higher end of its 2024 EV production to be 250,000 units, down from a prior forecast of 300,000 units, the automaker's CFO Paul Jacobson said while speaking at the Deutsche Bank Global Auto Industry Conference. Last year, GM outlined a $10 billion stock buyback close on the heels of reaching a costly new labor agreement with the United Auto Workers (UAW). Hamas formally responded on Tuesday to a U.S. ceasefire proposal for the eight-month-old war in the Gaza Strip, and Israel said the response was tantamount to a rejection while a Hamas official said the Palestinian group merely reiterated longstanding demands not met by the current plan. Egypt and Qatar said they had received Hamas' response to a proposal outlined by U.S. President Joe Biden on May 31 but did not disclose the contents. The Hamas official reaffirmed its stance that a ceasefire must lead to a permanent end to hostilities in Gaza, withdrawal of Israeli forces, reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave and release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

An appeals court ruled that mRNA COVID-19 shots do not prevent viral transmission and therefore that mandating COVID injections lacks legal basis. The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Friday vacated the dismissal of a lawsuit against a California school district for mandating COVID shots, brought forth by the Health Freedom Defense Fund, California Educators for Medical freedom, and other plaintiffs. The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) had required that employees get the injections or “lose their jobs,” which the plaintiffs said “interfered with their fundamental right to refuse medical treatment,” the appeals court noted.

Joe Biden is being encouraged to replace Kamala Harris with a blast from the past to aid his floundering chances at re-election. Biden, who has struggled in the polls nationally and in key swing states, has left Democrats wondering if major change is needed to beat Donald Trump in November. Questions and doubts exist over the health and ability to perform the job of Biden, at 81, the oldest president in American history. Harris - the first female and first black vice president in American history - has also struggled, with poll numbers saying a majority of Americans don't think she would be a good president.

In a rare moment of seeming self-awareness, Fauci admitted that shutting down the schools for that long "was not a good idea."

Except, that is, in the case he brought against the presumptive presidential nominee of the opposition party, whom he'd promised to go after during his election campaign. In fact, immediately after the ban garnered international attention, people started to call out the hypocrisy, considering Israeli technology was among some of the main attractions in the exhibition.
