Ya think? The sainted Dr. Anthony Fauci of COVID pandemic fame has a new memoir out, describing his "journey in public service." Promoting the book, he's been doing some interviews, including one this week on CBS Mornings. During the interview, the host asked Fauci about his recommendations during the pandemic to close the nation's public schools, a situation that lasted for more than a year in some places. In a rare moment of seeming self-awareness, Fauci admitted that shutting down the schools for that long "was not a good idea."

"...not a good idea..." When did a beaurocrat ever have one? Most would never make it a year in the private sector.

It's a start. Now admit that EVERYTHING you forced on the American People was a BAD idea! Then admit that you did it on purpose.

Interesting, but wasn't he simply taking orders from the National Teachers Association who wanted to use the issue to press for more money?
How many children didn't learn how to read and write early enough, or had troubles due to the separation created by the schools being closed FAR TOO LONG.
The impact those decisions will have in the coming decades is more profound than they are willing to admit publicly.
The lack of social interaction and "getting along" with others has been significant.

In the heat of the battle, let’s grant room for a few mistakes. But to repeat the mistakes of the past…expecting a different outcome, is malfeasance (masking does not control viruses. Improper masking might enhance illness rates). To foster an unproven drug, without adequate testing, is malfeasance (the history of prior mnra drugs is at best cautionary). To pursue a couse of action like shutdown, without considering safer alternatives, is stupidity writ large (Purdue shut down 1 month, reconfigured operations, reopened…it was safer to be on campus than at home).

Actually, closing the schools was a blessing in disguise as it opened many parents’ eyes to what was going on in the classroom. It was the masking the children for 6-8 hours a day that was appalling. The health consequences of that decision are far reaching.

Hey wait! Didn't someone give him a medal on their way out the door?
You are d@mn right that I'm not going to let this go. When your default panic setting is to go after Civil Rights, I at best think you're a clown. If not a dangerous clown. "I locked it down" And the B side, "Take the guns first. Due process second".

Behind every cloud there's a silver lining. #s 8 and 9 were quicker to the draw than I am. Had school been in session throughout the plandemic parents would never have known what nefarious things were happening in the classroom. The people who planned this screwed up when they failed to take into account that in addition to kids being locked up, many parents were locked up, too. Oops!!
But thanks to the "powers that be" our kids have fallen way behind. Many children were lagging behind even before the lock downs since our current system of education isn't exactly stellar (on purpose, IMO).

The reason Fauci is now thinking it was a mistake is because it opened our eyes to what was going on in the classroom.

Why keep talking about it? Roughly half of thinking people are able to see the wrong that was, and is still being done, the other half doesn’t and never will. Your lifelong best friend may disagree with you bitterly. It is bizarre, equally so to either side of the discussion. We still see people wearing a face cloth. Like world peace, common agreement will never happen. Best to keep your conclusion to yourself.

So far from Fauci -- the masks and distancing did not work, and were based on no research. The "vaccines" did not stop the spread, and now helped only for 4-6 weeks. Now, should not have closed the schools. Aren't we at: The whole government response was a Complete Failure, based on Total Lies.

The EVIDENCE was clear at the time. Children under 15 had more to fear from flu than Covid. Said so.
Got shouted down.

The problem here lies in government control of the discussion and the implementation of the actions to be taken. Government is power and the government does NOT welcome or accept challenge. So they have to silence competing voices. It such a chaotic situation where answers were NOT known (as Fauci and the government now grudgingly now admit), it is these competing voices that can lead to better understanding and treatment. We now KNOW that certain protocols and treatment were wrong and others that may have been more effective were attacked and blocked.
In FACT, science REQUIRES debate and open inquiry. The more uncertain the premises the more important open debate becomes. As the article points out, people questioning government's dogma were cut out and ridiculed. THAT is the most concerning aspect of what happened. It doesn't so much matter that Fauci was wrong but more that his diktats were considered inviolable.
The same is true about Global Warming. The government adopted stance on Warming is the only acceptable one, even as more and more evidence arises that it is absolutely wrong.
The combination of government power and scientific inquiry has been a disaster. And ... such problems are not new. Before government was so involved, scientific groups carried out similar actions, belittling people with differing ideas and, in the end, correct ones. Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis insisted and proved that hand washing could significantly reduce the transmission of illness. He was mocked and outcast by the medical community and had a nervous breakdown and was committed to an asylum where he was beaten by guards and died. Yet, HE WAS RIGHT. What happened with COVID was not all that different. Government does not know the meaning of "I don't know the answer to that question." because such an answer would undermine their power.

Children as just another evil lab experiment like the beagles in Fauci's cages. How do those kids get their lost education back? I'm still waiting for charges and conviction. Lacking that, I'd go for a tall oak tree.
