Reform NYC’s charter to allow open primaries
— and rescue City Hall from the hard left

The Charter Revision Commission convened by Mayor Adams may have started as a politically motivated effort to fend off a City Council power grab — but on Monday, commissioners heard a reform proposal that could profoundly change Gotham politics for the better. The possible change sounds simple: giving nearly one million more registered voters the right to participate in primary elections. But its impact could be profound, offering New York City a way to take back local government from the hard left. Today, voters not registered to a major party are shut out of primaries, our most important local elections.

Comments:

That sick group of freaks and weirdos runs away from their alleged love of DEI when it conflicts with their exclusionary voting system that is only competitive for scum, and scum that rises to the top.

Doesn't matter. New York is a lost cause. Build a wall around it so no other state is contaminated.

The state of Missouri has filed a lawsuit against the technology giant International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) for unlawful practices in allegedly requiring racial and gender quotas in its hiring and promotion structures for employees. Missouri Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey on Thursday filed suit against the company, alleging that such practices are a violation of the Missouri Human Rights Act. "It has come to my attention that IBM has adopted an unlawful policy that blatantly favors applicants of a certain gender or skin color over others, and that managers within the company who refuse to comply with said policy face adverse action, including and up to, termination.

Republicans in the Michigan House of Representatives are doubling down on their opposition to a Democrat-led bill, which could put the state’s 15 electoral votes in line with the national popular vote in presidential elections. The effort comes as other states have passed measures looking to align themselves with the national popular vote, rather than their own state’s popular vote, as a way to change the way a president is elected. Seventeen states and the District of Columbia have already agreed to a compact which would have them vote in line with the popular vote, rather than their respective jurisdiction’s popular vote,

Crime in California has become a nationwide cautionary tale, but California's elected leaders, from Governor Gavin Newsom to Attorney General Rob Bonta to the Democrat Supermajority legislature, have done little except put a new paint job on a red-tagged building. From blue sky initiatives like high-tech surveillance to banning self-checkout, none of these addresses the root issue: people who do the crime in California rarely do the time. There are no consequences for criminal behavior; therefore, there is no reason not to escalate that behavior. Ergo, crime continues to be rampant. After decades of this, Californians have taken matters into their own hands.

General Motors cut its annual EV production forecast and announced a new $6 billion share buyback plan on Tuesday, as the automaker banks on demand from its gasoline-powered models. GM now projects the higher end of its 2024 EV production to be 250,000 units, down from a prior forecast of 300,000 units, the automaker's CFO Paul Jacobson said while speaking at the Deutsche Bank Global Auto Industry Conference. Last year, GM outlined a $10 billion stock buyback close on the heels of reaching a costly new labor agreement with the United Auto Workers (UAW). "We are very focused on the profitability of our [gas-powered vehicles] business,

Hamas formally responded on Tuesday to a U.S. ceasefire proposal for the eight-month-old war in the Gaza Strip, and Israel said the response was tantamount to a rejection while a Hamas official said the Palestinian group merely reiterated longstanding demands not met by the current plan. Egypt and Qatar said they had received Hamas' response to a proposal outlined by U.S. President Joe Biden on May 31 but did not disclose the contents. The Hamas official reaffirmed its stance that a ceasefire must lead to a permanent end to hostilities in Gaza, withdrawal of Israeli forces, reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave and release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

Former President Donald Trump promised that if elected president in November, his administration will eliminate taxes on tips. During a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, Trump told the crowd his administration would not be taxing the tips of people working in hotels, restaurants, or other jobs. “So, this is the first time I’ve said this. And, for those hotel workers and people that get tips, you’re going to be very happy,” Trump announced. “Because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips — people making tips.”

An appeals court ruled that mRNA COVID-19 shots do not prevent viral transmission and therefore that mandating COVID injections lacks legal basis. The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Friday vacated the dismissal of a lawsuit against a California school district for mandating COVID shots, brought forth by the Health Freedom Defense Fund, California Educators for Medical freedom, and other plaintiffs. The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) had required that employees get the injections or “lose their jobs,” which the plaintiffs said “interfered with their fundamental right to refuse medical treatment,” the appeals court noted.

The Israeli military rescued four hostages in a special operation in the Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza, that Gazan authorities said killed 236 people and injured more than 400 others. Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv, were rescued by the Israeli military, intelligence and special forces from two separate locations in Nuseirat, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Saturday. All four were kidnapped from the Nova music festival on October 7. “They are in good medical condition and have been transferred to the ‘Sheba’ Tel-HaShomer Medical Center for further medical examinations,” the IDF added.

A Texas prosecutor asked the state's highest criminal court on Tuesday to reverse a pardon granted by Governor Gregg Abbott to a former U.S. Army sergeant convicted of murder and sentenced to prison for fatally shooting a Black Lives Matter protester. Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza, a Democrat whose office tried the murder case, said he asked the state Court of Criminal Appeals for a special order, called a writ of mandamus, to overturn Abbott's action. Garza told a news briefing that Abbott violated the separation of powers doctrine of the state's constitution and failed to follow proper legal procedures in the way he pardoned Daniel Perry last month.

The "land corridors" could see US soldiers arriving at one of five ports along pre-planned routes to confront soldiers sent by Moscow, according to Nato officials. Existing plans have armed forces landing at Dutch ports before boarding trains through Germany and onwards to Poland. These news plans are still being put together and are being made behind the scenes to expand the routes to other ports.

President Joe Biden is being shuffled to Camp Debate to prepare for the most consequential debate of his political career: the June 27 debate with former President Donald Trump. Biden is mustering all his top advisers to prepare him for this epic showdown, where the president’s mental health and stamina will be tested. For weeks, we’ve seen a mentally declining president on display. CBS News reported that “we should expect some surprises” from this debate preparation excursion. And what will that be—Biden not falling or him saying something remotely coherent? The 2024 playbook is a mess, and it's Democrats who are making that known behind the scenes.

The Cruel Summer singer’s jet was believed to have just landed hours before the “second anti-fossil fuels protest,” took shape. Taylor Swift's name has been added to an expanding roster of stars under scrutiny for their use of private jets. As concerns over carbon emissions mount,

Every once in a while, history gives us a second chance. The multitude of errors and missed signals that led up to the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon taught us valuable lessons about the nature of the world we live in and how truly vulnerable we are in the United States to bad actors looking for blood. One of the most valuable lessons we learned from that terrible day is that complacency is a deadly disease that can result in tragedy too painful to bear. We had many warnings about Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda

Ads on social media, radio, billboards and transit that began rolling out on June 10 warn women to "avoid anti-abortion centers," the Executive Office of Health and Human Services announced. The ads direct viewers to a Mass.gov webpage advertising how to "search for a trusted abortion provider." (snip) These (pro-life) clinics typically provide free testing, baby items, counseling and other forms of support for women who find themselves in unplanned pregnancies. Supporters say they provide education and resources for women to explore alternatives to abortion to make an informed decision about their pregnancy.

I think it's safe to say we're there. Where is "there"? In this case, veteran Democrat activist-operative James Carville is openly calling for the creation of a White House-led "enforcement mechanism" to compel the lapdog media to directly help embattled Joe Biden beat Donald Trump in November. We first go back to May, when New York Times editor Joe Kahn said the duty of his paper is to cover news that Americans care about rather than what helps Biden or hurts Trump, while Biden aides were reportedly urging officials to criticize the NYT’s coverage that didn't help Biden or hurt Trump. The Biden aides' plan wasn't good enough for Carville.
