No matter how much I might disagree with a person, I am unlikely to call that person a "heartless monster" and/or "terrorist," especially when that person happens to be a United States combat veteran.
Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) is a U.S. Army combat veteran, having served in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Stepping on an IED in September 2010 "as he cleared a lane for Rangers during an attack in the Arghandab District of Kandahar" cost him both legs. In January 2015 he volunteered with the IDF, and was stationed just outside of Tel Aviv, "where he packed medical kits and moved supplies around, including some heavy lifting."

Former President Donald Trump posted a $91.6 million bond Friday after losing writer E. Jean Carroll’s defamation case against him, also appealing the eight-figure judgment, as the ex-president faced a Monday deadline to pay the judgment against him—though he still has hundreds of millions more to pay in a separate civil fraud case. [Snip] Trump faced a Monday deadline to put up the money he owes in the case, as he had 30 days after the judgment on Feb. 8 to either pay cash or post an appeals bond before Carroll could ask the court to enforce the judgment and seize Trump’s assets.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) crafted a straightforward plan to end the catastrophic border crisis created by President Joe Biden.
The Colorado Congresswoman introduced the Build the Wall and Deport Them All Act Friday. The bill codifies many Donald Trump-era policies and might be the perfect contrast to the border policies offered by Biden during his State of the Union address to the nation the night before.
“On day one, the Biden Regime implemented their open-border policies that have destroyed countless American families and made our communities less safe,” Boebert told Breitbart News.

Many have speculated that Joe Biden was hopped up on something during Thursday's State of the Union. Whatever stimulation he received before taking the podium, it wasn't enough to stop him from calling Laken Riley by the wrong name and proclaiming that women have "electrical power," among other flubs.
Somehow, things managed to get much worse on Friday. After an ill-advised impromptu presser on the tarmac of Joint Base Andrews, the president traveled to Pennsylvania for a campaign rally. Let's just say the upper wore off, leading to perhaps his most senile speech yet.

Can an illegally recorded phone call be used to form the basis of a prosecution? That's a question that is about to become very relevant following a bombshell revelation regarding the infamous phone call between Donald Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
On the call, Trump can be heard telling Raffensperger, "I just want to find 11,780 votes." That statement was one of the centerpieces of the former president's second impeachment. Was it definitive, though? In context, Trump had also asked Raffensperger to "find the fraud," indicating that he thought there were legitimate votes left to be uncovered.
Regardless, Fulton County DA Fani Willis used the phone call

Laken Riley’s mother spoke out for the first time following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address where he botched her dead daughter’s name.
On Friday, Allyson Phillips slammed Biden for referring to her daughter as "Lincoln" rather than "Laken" in his speech.
Riley, a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student, was murdered last month by a Venezuelan illegal immigrant who had been residing in the United States illegally.
Responding to a Facebook comment, Phillips did not beat around the bush in her criticism toward the president, saying “Biden does not even KNOW my child’s name – it’s pathetic!

Thursday night’s State of the Union speech was a doozy. Joe Biden, hopped up on some cocktail of energizing substances, delivered a hyperpartisan speech that devoted more time to attacking Donald Trump and anyone else who doesn’t fall in line behind the far left’s policy proposals than to assessing the state of our country. Let’s call it what it was: a campaign speech. To quote Erick Erickson, the State of the Union was “partisan and not memorable and beneath the dignity of the office.”
Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has garnered mixed reviews for her official rebuttal to Biden’s speech, but she wasn’t the only one to issue a response.

Joe Biden’s fiery but mostly peaceful State of the Union address prompted many to suggest that he had been drugged before the speech to ensure an energetic performance.
I don’t doubt that many wags made those comments in jest, but it may actually be the truth. A psychiatrist who specializes in elderly dementia patients told the Washington Times that Biden displayed behaviors indicative of stimulant usage to conceal cognitive decline during his State of the Union address on Thursday.
While Democrats were rushing to claim that his performance proved that he was physically and mentally capable of handling the presidency, Dr. Carole Lieberman, a forensic psychiatrist based in Beverly Hills, Calif.,

Cheney and her committee falsely claimed they had “no evidence” to support Trump officials’ claims the White House had communicated its desire for 10,000 National Guard troops. In fact, an early transcribed interview conducted by the committee included precisely that evidence from a key source. The interview, which Cheney attended and personally participated in, was suppressed from public release until now.

President Biden’s use of taxpayer dollars to rig the 2024 election in Democrats’ favor is a whole new level of sinister — and only House Republicans possess the power to stop him.
Two months after taking office, Biden took the unprecedented step of ordering hundreds of federal agencies to interfere in state and local election administration. Under Executive Order 14019, all departments were required to use U.S. taxpayer money to boost voter registration and get-out-the-vote activities. The head of each department was directed to draft “a strategic plan” explaining how his or her agency intended to fulfill Biden’s edict.
Federal departments were also told to collaborate with so-called “nonpartisan third-party organizations”

The Pentagon published a report on Friday by its All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reviewing 80 years of UFO sightings and concluded there is no evidence UFO sighting reflected the existence of alien life.
“AARO found no evidence that any USG investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has confirmed that any sighting of a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology,” the DoD report summarizes. Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) is the technical term used to classify UFOs.

Houston Muslim leaders issued a 24-hour deadline to the mayor in their demand that he call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. There was a Thursday 5:00 p.m. deadline for the mayor to call for a ceasefire and Mayor Whitmire did not meet that deadline. More than 40 Muslim Imams and organizations threatened to boycott the city's annual Ramadan dinner. And, they threatened to remove their support. They said if he did not meet their demand Whitmire would lose audiences, business partners, and also votes.

An EV will likely not exceed five digits on the odometer because the cost to replace the battery in the typical 10-year span of a battery life will exceed the vehicle’s resale value, therefore making it economically impractical.
Other authors have all cited valid facts about the impracticality of charging these things on long trips, the stress they will add to a fragile electric grid, the lack of enthusiasm in this country for adding additional reliable energy power plants, etc. None of this has made me want to rush right out and buy an EV, but just for the sake of developing a more complete picture,

West Texas oil billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks entered the 2024 primary election cycle wounded.
Their political network was in the middle of a scandal over its ties to white supremacists. Republicans were calling on each other to reject the billionaires’ campaign money. And their enemies believed they were vulnerable — one bad election day from losing their grip on the state.
Instead, Dunn and Wilks emerged from Tuesday perhaps stronger than ever — vanquishing old political foes, positioning their allies for a November takeover of the state Legislature, and leaving little doubt as to who is winning a vicious civil war to control the state party.

Via his endless drunk-sailor spending, Biden dumped trillions into the economy just as it was coming into a strong upswing after the COVID crush.

Joe Biden has always had a casual relationship with the truth. Just ask any Gold Star parent who has had to listen to him lie about his son Beau dying in Iraq. During Thursday's State of the Union address, Biden fully displayed his fabulist tendencies. His assessment of the administration's accomplishments and his impact was not anchored in reality.
He accused Republicans of burying the "truth" about January 6, 2021. This is odd since the January 6 Committee that existed prior to the Republican majority "lost" encrypted files. The Republican majority has also released thousands of hours of tape of the event to the public.

The left seems increasingly resigned to the fact that Donald Trump could defeat Joe Biden in a rematch this November. So much so that it is busy speculating about the hellscape Trump II will unleash.
He will destroy democracy. He will rule as an authoritarian. And so forth.
The New York Times took another stab at it Thursday in its daily email newsletter, The Morning.
David Leonhardt, who runs the newsletter, says that a good way to understand how Trump might govern in a second term is to look at his “affinity” for Viktor Orban, the conservative prime minister of Hungary, who has become the bête noire of the left.

As we’ve been reporting, President Joe Biden delivered a vitriolic State of the Union speech Thursday night where he attacked his opponents, took no responsibility for any of the many problems occurring under his regime—like the border crisis—or made any attempts to foster unity or reach out in a bipartisan manner.

Unlike classless former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – who ripped up then-President Donald Trump’s speech in 2020, Johnson didn’t disrupt the proceedings or do anything outlandish,

Pro-Hamas agitators caused chaos around Capitol Hill Thursday evening leading up to the State of the Union address, and hundreds of them blocked President Biden's motorcade route to hold a "People's State of the Union" address. [Video]
As my colleague Matt Vespa over at Townhall reported, the crazies had been around all day:
These pro-terrorist supporters were all over DC today. Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) called them crazy right to their faces. A demonstration was held outside of Bullfeathers bar, and a man was detained after he was caught revving his engine near pro-Hamas demonstrators.

As President Joe Biden was slowly walking to the podium Thursday night to give the State of the Union address after running late and stopping for selfies, a fired-up Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) made sure to position herself near the aisle so he could see her wearing her Make America Great Again hat and her Laken Riley t-shirt.

She looked him straight in the eye and told him to say Laken Riley's name.
Here's how that exchange went down: [video]
Riley, as RedState readers will recall, was the 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student who was killed two weeks ago,

Capitol Police arrested Gold Star father Steve Nikoui — whose son, Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui, lost his life in the Abbey Gate bombing during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan — during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address Thursday night.
“Tonight at approximately 10:15 p.m., a man disrupted the State of the Union Address by yelling,” Capitol Police said in a statement provided to NR. “Our officers told him to stop and when he did not, the man was removed from the House Galleries and was arrested for D.C. Code § 22–1307 – Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding. Disrupting the Congress and demonstrating in the Congressional Buildings is illegal.

Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) on Thursday argued President Biden is a “dithering and diminished” leader who is taking the U.S. down a worrisome path.
Delivering the GOP response to Biden’s State of the Union from her own kitchen table, the freshman senator laid into the president for the border, crime, the economy and his work on the international stage. “President Biden just doesn’t get it. He’s out of touch. Under his administration, families are worse off, our communities are less safe and our country is less secure,” she said from her home in Montgomery, Ala. “I just wish he understood what real families are facing around kitchen tables

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) went off on President Joe Biden’s Thursday night State of the Union speech, a diatribe so full of rage and venom that it was hard to watch. Biden spent most of the evening shouting at the assembled lawmakers, hectoring those on the wrong side of the aisle and demeaning anyone with different viewpoints.
Cruz rightfully laid into him, saying that the speech seemed like the rantings of an angry old man. Appearing on Sean Hannity's show on Fox News, he said he’s never witnessed such an alienating spectacle:
Look, I think tonight was astonishing. I've never seen anything like it.
It was a campaign speech, but it was an

When I went to the social media platform Truth Social Thursday evening to see if Donald Trump was reacting to President Biden’s stunningly divisive State of the Union speech, I was greeted with a white screen. Turns out Truth wasn’t the only site that went down during the diatribe – reports are that a slew of government and media sites were affected as well. Most are back up as of this writing, but the cause for the outages has not been determined. Some US government websites are back online, some are still down. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was one of those affected: As was DHS, the Secret Service,

Immediately following President Biden’s State of the Union Address Thursday night, CNN’s band of liberal anchors (Jake Tapper, Dana Bash, and Abby Phillip) praised his attacks on former President Trump, his “fight,” and tried to do damage control for his plethora of senior moments. Tapper made sure to tout how Biden alluded to Trump 13 times (ABC counted 16) during the address. Once he quickly exhausted all the nice things he had to say, Tapper awkwardly pivoted to trying to downplay Biden’s bumbling, stumbling, and disgraceful mispronunciation of Laken Riley’s name (the young college student Biden’s open border policies killed) by calling her “Lincoln”

Former President Donald Trump reacted live to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) address on Truth Social, addressing several of Biden’s false claims while offering commentary laced with his trademark sense of humor.
Trump began his reactions prior to Biden arriving, noting that the president was “substantially late,” which he said is “not a good start.” According to reports, Biden was late due to pro-Palestinian protesters blocking his route. Nevertheless, Trump joked, “They will have to drive very, very quickly, you just don’t want to be late to the State of the Union.

In completely unsurprising fashion, Joe Biden arrived 20 minutes late for his own State of the Union on Thursday. Once he finally took the podium, it became clear that he shouldn't have shown up at all. Perhaps it was a screw-up on the dosage by his drug cocktail team, but Biden spent the first half hour of the speech screaming uncontrollably, while intermittently coughing and slurring his words. It was surreal and by far, the most unhinged and angriest State of the Union in history. There will no doubt be headlines proclaiming otherwise, and they will be false. There were also plenty of instances of the president's senility showing through.

Claim: Biden claimed that the U.S. economy was on the brink of disaster when he took office.
“I inherited an economy that was on the brink. Now our economy is the envy of the world!” Biden said.
Verdict: False.
President Biden inherited an economy that was strongly rebounding from the pandemic. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the economy grew at an annual rate of 4.3 percent.
In the prior quarter, it had grown at an annual rate of 33.1 percent, as the economy whipsawed from lockdown to reopening.
As Biden took office, in the first quarter of 2021, the economy was growing at a 5.2 percent annual rate. (Until the Department of Commerce revised
