Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has voiced skepticism at reports that there simply is not enough water to fight the Los Angeles, California, wildfires, pointing out that the way the state is “managed” is to blame.
“California has 840 miles of coast line and 3,000 lakes and reservoirs. Why don’t they have enough water to fix any and all fires?” the racing star wrote on X on Wednesday: “At some point I have to imagine it’s getting difficult for hardcore cali lovers to accept the state of their state and how it’s managed,” Patrick, who reportedly lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, stated.

As raging fires ravage California, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake, wealthy business magnate Elon Musk announced that SpaceX will supply free Starlink terminals to impacted areas in Los Angeles. He made the announcement when retweeting footage of a reporter crediting Starlink internet service with connectivity. The reporter said that Starlink is "the only reason we're able to hear and communicate...right now because there's absolutely no cell service at all in this whole area." Rep. Could Donald Trump find himself on the cusp of a truly historic achievement? He's already the second president to serve non-consecutive terms (Grover Cleveland), the first Republican to win the popular vote in 20 years, and the first president re-elected after an impeachment (and the first to be impeached twice).
Trump could mark another historic achievement soon -- at least in terms of his own history. According to the poll tracking at FiveThirtyEight, Trump may have become more popular than unpopular for the first time in his political life. Washington Post analyst Aaron Blake first noticed it this morning: What makes this fascinating is when it takes place.

Former first lady Michelle Obama did not attend because she reportedly had “scheduling conflicts,” journalist Jeff Zeleny told CNN.
“She’s still in Hawaii,” Zeleny said, underscoring the lack of an open seat next to her husband.
“Mrs. Obama sends her thoughts and prayers to the Carter family, and everyone who loved and learned from the remarkable former President,” her spokesperson told reporters. Because of Michelle Obama’s absence, former President Barack Obama sat in between President-elect Trump and former first lady Laura Bush.

Last week, Mike Johnson was re-elected as a speaker. Just a couple of votes against Johnson could have denied him a first ballot win -- or aced him out entirely. Another drawn-out, multi-ballot fight for the speakership would have been a needless distraction for president-elect Trump. Trump means to get out of the gate running. So, he stepped in. He made the difference. He worked the phones and whipped wobbly Republicans into line, ensuring Johnson a bare majority victory. Art of the Deal met LBJ -- that other Johnson, Lyndon Baines, who as Senate majority leader and president dangled carrots and twisted arms with the best of them.

The 2024 presidential election did a lot of separating the men from the boys. We already knew that Kamala Harris and the Democrats would do nothing but deliver more of the same, more of Joe Biden's disastrous policies. But it also did something else. While the curtain may have been parted a bit before the election on just who and what the media were, Donald Trump himself was responsible for yanking that curtain aside the rest of the way. The media may not realize it yet, but things are shaping up to be very different for them in 2025.

What's played out in American politics in the aftermath of Donald Trump's Election Day victory has been a pretty remarkable thing to watch unfold from my perch among my fellow cheap seat dwellers.I honestly can't recall a time in modern history when a President-Elect was essentially turned into the de facto president almost immediately. On the other hand, the sitting president - who was forced out of the presidential race by his own party - largely faded into the background, perhaps to sulk and/or reluctantly admit to himself that he is grateful his Oval Office roller coaster ride will soon be over.

Jesus turned water into wine. Modern-day abolitionists want to turn that wine into poison, and modern-day drinkers want to chase them out of town. We’re come a long way baby.
Not.
Let’s start with some facts:
As a long-time drinker, I can say with some authority that alcohol is a toxin. Half a quart of hard liquor in half an hour will probably leave you unconscious. More than that can kill you.
However, people rarely drink that much, that fast. Those who do are probably engaging in many other reckless behaviors, too, that will kill them long before the alcohol does.

Los Angeles' budget is in the spotlight as multiple wildfires rage around the city amid revelations that Mayor Karen Bass slashed the fire department's budget last year while prioritizing spending on the city's homeless population.
For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion. An analysis by L.A.'s city comptroller last year found that roughly half the budget for homelessness went unspent.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass became stone-faced when confronted by a reporter as she returned to America to find her city burning Wednesday.
“Do you owe citizens and apology for being absent while their homes were burning, and do you regret cutting the Fire Department budget by millions of dollars madame mayor?” Sky News reporter David Blevins asked as Bass waited to deplane.
“Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today?” he added. (Photos) Bass — standing a few feet away on the plane’s ramp as she awaited clearance to leave — stared blankly as Belvins questioned her, refusing to provide an answer or even acknowledge his presence.

Add this story to the ‘Trump was right again’ pile.
Just three months ago, when Trump appeared on the Joe Rogan Podcast, he talked to Joe about the ongoing issue of water dispersal in California and about how the state could stop wildfires by clearing dead trees from forests.
He suggested that the state actually has more than enough water to deal with these and other issues such as farming, but progressive environmental policies are standing in the way.

Attorneys for Boulder have appealed a judge’s finding that the city cannot charge fees for police video footage requested under a 2020 Colorado law passed in the wake of George Floyd’s murder.
The appeal, which was expected, may take months to work its way through the Colorado Court of Appeals. But it could have implications for when, if, and how the city can charge fees for future police footage requests.
Last April, local publication Yellow Scene Magazine sued the city for not promptly releasing unedited police video footage from a Dec. 17, 2023, police shooting. On that day, officers shot and killed Jeanette Alatorre, 51, near the North Boulder Recreation Center,

As RedState reported, parts of Los Angeles are now facing an apocalyptic series of wildfires, none of which have been contained as of this writing. To make matters worse, firefighters started running out of water early Wednesday morning. Notably, President-Elect Donald Trump repeatedly called for changes in how flammable brush and the water supply in California are managed. In return, he was mercilessly mocked by the press and Democrat politicians. Trump’s suggestions have prompted head-scratching from experts who say his prescriptions — more raking, less water released into the ocean for environmental purposes — suggest he does not understand

It's not all bad news for the 64% of Los Angeles County who voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. As they flee the brutal wildfires in terror, watching everything they own turn to toast, they can take comfort in knowing that their Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) -- which is powerless to stop the inferno -- overfloweth with sweet diversity, as planned.
Check out the Los Angeles Fire Department's website:
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Bureau will focus on building and fostering a Department committed to engaging the voices and respecting the humanity of all its members, reflected in how it handles recruitment and hiring, workplace conduct, retention, and promotion.

PANAMA CITY, FL -- U.S. Navy veteran and Plaintiff Zachary Young continued his testimony Wednesday in the $1 billion defamation trial against CNN. The morning’s testimony featured the jurors being shown fairly damaging messages between Young and CNN reporters Katie Bo Lillis and Alex Marquardt. The messages showed Young was lied to about the nature of CNN’s reporting and Young warning them what they were about to air on TV was factually inaccurate. They jurors looked on intently and were taking copious notes. The jury was first shown how Lillis made contact with Young under the false pretenses

Earlier today when I wrote about the wildfires I mentioned that there were reports the hydrants were simply running dry, leaving firefighters no way to battle the flames. Here's Rick Caruso, former candidate for LA mayor, describing the problem. FIle this next clip under "too good to check" but apparently this morning one local LA anchor tried to discount what Caruso was saying only to have a reporter contradict him a minute later. That knee-jerk urge to contradict whatever criticism Democrats are getting is one surefire way the media consistently sets its own credibility on fire.
