Ran Out of Water

Earlier today when I wrote about the wildfires I mentioned that there were reports the hydrants were simply running dry, leaving firefighters no way to battle the flames. Here's Rick Caruso, former candidate for LA mayor, describing the problem. FIle this next clip under "too good to check" but apparently this morning one local LA anchor tried to discount what Caruso was saying only to have a reporter contradict him a minute later. That knee-jerk urge to contradict whatever criticism Democrats are getting is one surefire way the media consistently sets its own credibility on fire.

Responsibility and accountability are not in the Democrats' dictionary. However, blaming God, climate change and Trump is part of their SOP.

What moniker should be given to Newsom? Governor Nero or Governor Zero?

Because millions of gallons of fresh water were pumped into the sea to please the gods of environmentalism.

Californistan is literally hell on Earth. The citizenry can't really complain too much. They voted in the Governments at all levels. They are now reaping for whom they voted. You all, keep away from Florida.

Those storage tanks are supposed to be full 24/7. A simple float switch is all it takes. Even high demand is no reason to drain them.

At least we can thank the idiot California officials for saving the totally worthless fish, know as smelt. Hope the citizens are still happy about that.

At a minimum, even if there isn't any immediate scandal here, it's obviously a failure of planning. California has been dealing with massive wildfires for a decade now. If we don't have a plan to make sure the fire hydrants in these areas have water in case of a wildfire, what the hell are we even doing.
There it is. Instead they are busy buying solar panels and windmills that don't work. closing down power plants that burn coal, requiring their cars no put out emissions, and ignoring the real problems.

Aside from any well-deserved political blame deserved by LA officials, the engineers responsible for the water system faced the same problem faced by every civil engineer on every public project: for what intermediate level of disaster do you design, on a limited budget, since there is not enough money in the universe to insure no deaths? That applies to buildings, roads, bridges, dams, levees and dikes...and water systems.
LA has large water tanks on top of the hills designed to serve residential needs. And even if they were full when the fires broke out, it would have been impossible to design their refill system to meet the demand of the worst possible scenario.
Based on what is in this article, and what I know of the topography of the Hollywood Hills, there is likely only one small water main dedicated to refilling each tank, a design that works OK most of the time. And because real estate is so valuable, the rights-of-way for the water mains are likely underneath the single, twisting roads that serve the real estate. And the instant demand of dozens of fire trucks on a single water main would have overwhelmed its ability to refill the tanks at the top of their runs.

I’ve known some good people from California that were anything but liberal, and some (smarter ones that moved away from there), that had built successful businesses there, fighting the system daily. I would have had to bite the bullet and flee that trash fire.

Per #2, I think Nero is well deserved. Put's me in mind of this great old tune from the inimitable Fats Waller. I'll paraphrase: Homes meant nothin' to Nero, he never was a hero, Palisades burnt to zero...still he fiddled away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uowBip8KOGU

Every displaced family should immediately take up residence in the homes of every official who approved of or voted for these idiotic regulation and policies. And now it's coming to light that the infamous "Delta Smelt" may not have existed at all. Policies regarding the Snail Darter were directly responsible for turning the once fertile central valley into a dried up landscape, bellying it's former title as the "breadbasket" of California.

The California Democrats won't be able to perform their usual CYA maneuvers this time, because THIS fire burned the houses of all their wealthy supporters. The scales are falling off the eyes of a lot of libtards today.
A word to those who have decided they're leaving: stay the hell out of Colorado. There's no room left in Aspen or Telluride - or Denver for that matter - and we don't want you screwing up the other places where we live.

Love to see a reporter, who reads a script for them, and without actual facts, tries to counter Ric Caruso who is one of the main developers in the City of Los Angeles.
He's a major Democrat donor.
He knows what he's talking about, knows how things work and has top-level contacts.

And California laws have driven out much of the insurance industry by making it impossible for them. So, lots of these people have not insurance. Not the insurance companies' fault, the California government's fault, both not having the water system working, not clearing out the brush, and having incompetents running fire dept. Spending fire protection money supporting foreigners who moved into the USA illegally.
