Oh My: Check Kamala's Reaction to Obama

We reported earlier on some of the priceless interactions between the various presidents, vice presidents, and their spouses at the state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter. We saw President Trump shake hands with his former VP Mike Pence, despite what can only be considered strained feelings between the two these days. There was the chilly interaction between Jill Biden and Kamala Harris, and the ridiculous reason that Michelle Obama wasn't there. There was Joe Biden, looking out of it, as usual. (Snip) But as the funeral went on there was another priceless moment that I had to share -- Kamala Harris' reaction to Barack Obama talking with Trump.

Well, #6, I don’t think he was ignoring her at all. Check out when the two of them went to pay respects when Carter was lying in state. This is a couple very close and attuned to one another. He asked her first if she were ready to leave before he made a move to do so. I still rather like that both have never put on shows of affection before cameras. When we do get to see it, I believe it’s genuine.

I was admiring how chic and classy Melania looked. I thought the wide collar with a little understated pattern looked appropriate for the funeral of a very old person, one who was a Christian believer. Carter’s death was, as all death is, sad but it was not tragic.

And in 10 days, we will all see the Phase 2 at PDT's inauguration. Will the same bunch show up, smile, chat with each other, mildly clap or enthusiatically cheer? Will biden stay awake? Will jill wear an ugly outfit? Will PDT put the screws to these people in his speech? Will any of them get up and leave early? Will PIAPS need a bathroom break? Will BJC be staring at all the young babes?

As wildfires sweep across Los Angeles County and residents flee their homes, some are using the opportunity to loot the neighborhoods and rob those who are already victims of the disaster. Nearly 180,000 have been forced out of their homes as at least five fires burn, destroying thousands of acres, per NBC. One woman told local KTLA that she started seeing cars pulling up, opening the doors, and “groups of men running up our street,” which she initially thought were people trying to help with evacuations. Last week, Mike Johnson was re-elected as a speaker. Just a couple of votes against Johnson could have denied him a first ballot win -- or aced him out entirely. Another drawn-out, multi-ballot fight for the speakership would have been a needless distraction for president-elect Trump. Trump means to get out of the gate running. So, he stepped in. He made the difference. He worked the phones and whipped wobbly Republicans into line, ensuring Johnson a bare majority victory. Art of the Deal met LBJ -- that other Johnson, Lyndon Baines, who as Senate majority leader and president dangled carrots and twisted arms with the best of them.

While much of the nation’s attention has been focused on the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral took place on Thursday. What was intended to be a somber occasion, however, quickly became charged with tension so thick attendees could feel it in the air.Among the ceremonial obligations to honor the former president, the spectacle of political posturing and strained handshakes was enough to quite the sideshow. It began with President Donald Trump walking past Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau’s side-eye was practically a headline in itself. (X)

The 2024 presidential election did a lot of separating the men from the boys. We already knew that Kamala Harris and the Democrats would do nothing but deliver more of the same, more of Joe Biden's disastrous policies. But it also did something else. While the curtain may have been parted a bit before the election on just who and what the media were, Donald Trump himself was responsible for yanking that curtain aside the rest of the way. The media may not realize it yet, but things are shaping up to be very different for them in 2025.

What's played out in American politics in the aftermath of Donald Trump's Election Day victory has been a pretty remarkable thing to watch unfold from my perch among my fellow cheap seat dwellers.I honestly can't recall a time in modern history when a President-Elect was essentially turned into the de facto president almost immediately. On the other hand, the sitting president - who was forced out of the presidential race by his own party - largely faded into the background, perhaps to sulk and/or reluctantly admit to himself that he is grateful his Oval Office roller coaster ride will soon be over. It's been amazing to see some of Trump's

Los Angeles' budget is in the spotlight as multiple wildfires rage around the city amid revelations that Mayor Karen Bass slashed the fire department's budget last year while prioritizing spending on the city's homeless population. For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion. An analysis by L.A.'s city comptroller last year found that roughly half the budget for homelessness went unspent.

Joe Biden is mentally cooked and almost out the door, but he had to do what presidents do during these natural disasters. The wildfires engulfing Los Angeles County is the second inferno Biden has dealt with. He led Maui burn to the ground and took his sweet time visiting the island, whose residents endured the worst wildfire seen in almost a century. The president was briefed on the raging wildfires that have so far killed at least two people, destroyed over 1,000 buildings, forced 70,000 from their homes, and charred close to 30,000 acres. None of the fires have been contained (via CBS News):

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass became stone-faced when confronted by a reporter as she returned to America to find her city burning Wednesday. “Do you owe citizens and apology for being absent while their homes were burning, and do you regret cutting the Fire Department budget by millions of dollars madame mayor?” Sky News reporter David Blevins asked as Bass waited to deplane. “Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today?” he added. (Photos) Bass — standing a few feet away on the plane’s ramp as she awaited clearance to leave — stared blankly as Belvins questioned her, refusing to provide an answer or even acknowledge his presence.

Earlier today when I wrote about the wildfires I mentioned that there were reports the hydrants were simply running dry, leaving firefighters no way to battle the flames. FIle this next clip under "too good to check" but apparently this morning one local LA anchor tried to discount what Caruso was saying only to have a reporter contradict him a minute later. That knee-jerk urge to contradict whatever criticism Democrats are getting is one surefire way the media consistently sets its own credibility on fire. By this afternoon,
