NEW YORK — Jurors asked Wednesday to review police and bystander video at the heart of the chokehold manslaughter case against Daniel Penny as his lawyers complained that an aggressive protester was harassing the Marine veteran outside the New York City courthouse. Within about an hour of starting a second day of deliberations, the anonymous jury sought a second look at videos captured by the body cameras of officers who responded to the subway car where Penny grabbed hold of Jordan Neely, an agitated man whose behavior and words were frightening passengers. Jurors also wanted to revisit video shot by a

Comments:

It sounds like there is disagreement amongst the jurors. They should have reached a Not Guilty verdict in 5 minutes.

OP is correct. Some jurors are sure the chokehold is what caused Neely's death and others are disagreeing. If it turns out to be a hung jury, the prosecutors should tuck tail and give up. They just wanted their 15 minutes of fame, imo.

They should have found him innocent in a short time. This whole trial is a travesty, not justice.

Back in 1964 a woman named Kitty Genovese was raped and murdered in NY City. Although she yelled and screamed for help no one helped her or even bothered to call the police. Why? Look at what happened to Penny. If you get involved you end up in court. If Penny had done nothing no one would even know his name. Now, even if acquitted, he is branded for life as someone who killed a poor street person. No thanks.

They also had the judge read back the instructions on the two lesser included offenses, including negligent homicide, which normally does not result in prison time.

Praying for one or more sane jurors to dig in their heels and vote not guilty. It appears that some want to find him guilty of a lesser crime.

The Russian military is accelerating its gains along the front line in Ukraine at a crucial time for the conflict. Data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) shows that Russia has gained almost six times as much territory in 2024 as it did in 2023, and is advancing towards key Ukrainian logistical hubs in the eastern Donbas region. Meanwhile, Ukraine's surprise incursion into Russia's Kursk region is faltering. Russian troops have pushed Kyiv's offensive backwards. Experts have questioned the success of the offensive, with one calling it a "strategic catastrophe" given manpower shortages faced by Ukraine.

President Biden has given the OK to lift restrictions that will allow Ukraine to use U.S.-provided long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, a U.S. official confirmed to CBS News on Sunday. The move is a significant change to U.S. policy in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. The easing of restrictions would allow Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, to hit targets inside Russia. The move also comes as some 10,000 North Korean troops were sent to Kursk near Ukraine's northern border to help Russian forces retake territory. The White House National Security Council declined to

This is the best thing Romney, 77, has done in his 30-year political career since his first failed run for Senate in 1994. In his address, the career politician trashed those “who would tear at our unity” and “replace love with hate,” likely aimed at President Trump.
