VP pick

Former President Donald Trump has chosen freshman Ohio Sen. JD Vance to serve as his No. 2 in his bid to return to the White House, ending months of speculation about who he had chosen for his VP. Trump world insiders had long said the 78-year-old would choose someone based on “loyalty” and someone who would compliment his strong personality, but not overshadow him, raise money and be ready to serve. The decision comes on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and comes two days after a gunman shot Trump in the upper ear at a Pennsylvania rally. The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, nearly missed Trump’s head,

Don't know alot about him. Of the latest choices, I would rather he had picked Burgum, but then I am from the middle of fly over country and would prefer someone that lives like we do.

Good news from my knowledge of Vance, from reading his book and observation of his behavior to date as a senator. The choice won’t please everyone, but none of the others would either. The future is not ours to see. Fortunately.

I guess Trump could have picked worse, but I don't trust him.... have always had a nagging suspicion that he is just a younger version of Pence. Hopefully I am wrong. Plus, I don't see Vance bringing in even one 'undecided' vote. As much as I loathe 'Identity Politics" where people calculate their vote just on race, sex, religion, etc., it shouldn't be ignored these days. Maybe the assassination attempt convinced Trump to pick sooner than he would have preferred , so as to not leave a giant vacuum at the top of the party if they succeed at the next attempt.

Agree with #5. Hope I am wrong. Now if Biden is pushed overboard, Horizontal Harris takes over and they name the Mooch as Veep. Two Conservative white males vs two Left wing black females. That would be contrast.

I'm with 5 & 6. Vance and his wife had been schmoozing/lobbying for the VP pick which felt wrong. Burgum had more in common with Trump, maybe a better fit, I'll guess he didn't poll good enough.

J D Vance is nothing like Pence. He's done so much in his young life, and is super smart. I can hardly wait for the debate between Vance and Cackles. If we thought she was dumb before, just wait until Vance gets hold of her.

Report: Biden Caves to Left, Will Back
Changes to Supreme Court

President Joe Biden is preparing to back changes to the Supreme Court that he hopes will energize the left-wing base of the Democratic Party as his reelection campaign continues to sink. The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Biden will soon back term limits for Supreme Court justices and a new “ethics code” to be enforced against the judiciary. He will stop short, however, of calling to expand the Court. That could be a matter of politics more than one of principle. Democrats once hoped to use their temporary majority in both houses of Congress in 2021 and 2022 to expand and “pack” the Court with enough liberal justices

I’ve spoken to so many people who were shocked at the assassination attempt on President Trump. But as pointed out by Sebastian Gorka, what is shocking is not that the assassination was attempted but that it took this long. The public discourse has become progressively uglier over the years, especially over the last few months as Trump has risen in the polls. Dr. Gorka pointed out the many calls for violence against Trump and MAGA supporters coming from leftist politicians like Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi and, of course, President Biden’s call to put a bullseye on President Trump.

Joe Biden's interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt Monday night was kind of a disaster. His failure to accept responsibility for his dangerous and violent rhetoric about Donald Trump was enraging, but the interview also became the latest example of his disturbing lack of mental fitness for the presidency. He once again came off as tired and weak, but things got really disturbing when he referred to his female Secret Service director as a man. "Do you have — are you — are you — you have confidence in the Secret Service?” Holt asked. "Do you feel safe?" "I feel safe with the Secret Service,” Biden said.

According to two sources familiar with the Secret Service's operations, the rooftop from which a gunman fired at former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pa., had been flagged as a potential security risk by the agency days before the incident, NBC News reported. The sources indicate that the Secret Service was aware of the risks associated with the building adjacent to the Butler Farm Show, an outdoor venue. “Someone should have been on the roof or securing the building so no one could get on the roof,” one of the sources, a former senior Secret Service agent, explained. Prayer works, because he was sure as Donald Trump turned his head just slightly, that the bullet missed him just enough to save his life to be the next President of the United States,” Greenwood said as the crowd cheered.

As one clip showed, the women protecting Trump looked jittery and slightly unsure of themselves. BUTLER, Pa. — The Secret Service blamed local police for failing to secure the rooftop from which gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, insisting it was outside the perimeter the federal agency was tasked with protecting. Instead, securing and patrolling the factory grounds of AGR International Inc. — located about 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking Saturday — was the responsibility of local Pennsylvania police, Secret Service representative Anthony Gugliemi said, according to the New York Times. The Secret Service was only tasked with covering the grounds where Trump’s rally took place, with local police being recruited to assist with those efforts and
