I’ll admit it. I’m shaken to the core by the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday. He was shot by a sniper in his right ear. Blood streamed across his face in real time as the nation watched in horror. Trump is lucky to be alive. An attendee at the rally was killed. Others were critically injured. It’s the most violent act against a sitting or former president that I can remember in my lifetime. (I was a baby when President Ronald Reagan was severely wounded in an assassination attempt in 1981.)

Nice of Lefty USA Today to define what Trump "has to do". While I am sure that Trump has that in mind, I'm also sure he knows that he has to speak to REPUBLICANS at the convention.

Democrats divided the country, let them unite it. Trump is going to make it great with whoever loves America and the freedom it means to us. Those who don't can move to Zimbabwe. Barack Obama split the country beginning in 2008 and his puppet, Brain-Dead Joe tried to finish the job.

Fine. As long as unite means leftist loons become sane and start acting like adults, as opposed to toddlers who live under the incredible delusion that THEY are the adults and the adults are children. Remember when Biden won? All lefties were saying 'the adults are back in charge'. Want unity? The left needs to lay down its arms.

#5, Advice from the enemy..., really? What the author writes is identical to what many of Trump's closest supporters have advised. FTA: "For those who were hoping to ward off a second Trump term, good luck. The photograph of Trump moments after the shooting, when he’s standing up from behind the podium surrounded by Secret Service, with his fist raised and blood across his cheek, will become the quintessential image of this campaign. The fact that Trump had the wherewithal to react with strength at a time of extreme fear and danger says a lot about who he is, and it will rally people to his side like never before." Not my idea of advice from the enemy. Of course if some posters didn't bother reading the article and based their comments on the name of the publication, the ignorance is understandable.

No, USATurd-catcher, the task at hand is to reverse every policy, program, and Executive Branch Bureaucracy that Democrats have established, created, constructed, or beat into the socialist dream. Get rid of ALL of them, then see where we're at. We then need to DEPORT 11 million illegal invaders allowed in by Joe Biden... with the DNC paying for the removal.

It's the RNC's jub to unite the country? How about giving the DNC the job of restraining their continual urge to divide and giving the media the job to refrain from further demonizing Trump (and gaslighting in general)? The Dems had Trump tied up with legal attacks for a solid 8 years. They attacked him when he was in office, and harassed him after stealing the election. Using the "justice" department for distinctly unjust work.

I'd say that the Republican's job is to wrest control of the Legislative and Executive branches away from the progressives (e.g., proto-islamists and proto-communists. I so doing they can protect the conservative majority, and perhaps add to it, on the U S Supreme Court.

I hate to say it, but our country is not going to be united any time soon. Our political campaigns have been based upon the politics of personal destruction, raised to an art form by the Clintons. Short of a second Pearl Harbor, this struggle for power will continue until one side collapses.

The White House is now faced with a conundrum — how to make the case against Donald Trump as a quasi-Nazi while lowering the proverbial temperature after his near-assassination? Joe Biden’s Oval Office address calling for toning down the overheated rhetoric in our politics was fine as far as it went, except it included no mea culpa, no assurance that he’ll try to do better himself, no recognition that his political and media allies have been the worst offenders. Over-the-top attacks on Trump haven’t been incidental to the Democratic 2024 campaign, but central to it.

On Jan. 20, 2021, President Biden, in his Inauguration Day address, pledged his “whole soul is this: Bringing America together. Uniting our people. And uniting our nation.” In the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Saturday, our nation has never been less cohesive or more divided and bitter. Much of that fracture is solely because of Mr. Biden and his unrelenting attacks on Mr. Trump and his MAGA supporters — a whopping 74 million Americans to judge by the 2020 election returns. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Mr. Biden said

Undeterred by even the sting of a would-be assassin’s bullet, Donald Trump charged strongly onward into Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention. This demonstration of determination and life force provides a stark contrast to the dithering and often incoherent meanderings of his opponent, Joe Biden. Trump further accentuated that show of vitality by selecting a running mate who is sure to help him win, serve as an invaluable second-in-command for the next four years, and then carry the banner of America first into the future after Trump completes his second term. As someone who has spent many hours with J.D. Vance and campaigned for him vigorously in his successful underdog Senate win,

Former President Donald Trump doubled down in his pursuit of the Rust Belt with his choice of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate in the 2024 presidential race. Before Vance was elected to the Senate from Ohio in 2022, winning a crowded Republican primary with Trump’s endorsement, he was the bestselling author of Hillbilly Elegy, a memoir that also dealt with the broader topics of drug addiction, family breakdown, and poverty in rural communities. Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin are the states where Trump sealed his victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016. He narrowly lost all three states to President Joe Biden in 2020.

His callous handlers’ agenda was to import abjectly poor constituencies in need of vast government services without regard for the current struggles of a battered American middle class and poor.
