Undeterred by even the sting of a would-be assassin’s bullet, Donald Trump charged strongly onward into Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention. This demonstration of determination and life force provides a stark contrast to the dithering and often incoherent meanderings of his opponent, Joe Biden. Trump further accentuated that show of vitality by selecting a running mate who is sure to help him win, serve as an invaluable second-in-command for the next four years, and then carry the banner of America first into the future after Trump completes his second term. As someone who has spent many hours with J.D. Vance and campaigned for him vigorously in his successful underdog Senate win,

From what little I've heard, he would be an excellent VP on his way to President in 2028. FIRST, President Trump needs to be elected, then we'll see.

OK, I like very much what Vance says. But, also....he was a public affairs officer in the Marines. This is probably because he is smart and well spoken, but that "I was a Marine" thing, while true for sure, isn't quite like led soldiers into firefights. Beats the heck out of a lot of folks' job history, no doubt, but a bit on the white collar, no blood side of the Marines rather than the blue collar with blood on it side. Not against Vance, but still .....shall we say warming up to him. And with a two year political history, I am still nervous. Crenshaw is a perfect example. Hero SEAL, wounded in combat....but I have, over time decided that he's a pure Deep State plant who plays a conservative, except when a critical vote comes up. He has made me wary of any newcomers without a political 'work history'.

Running for President takes even more courage now that he knows the Secret Service cannot protect him.

FOX News host Jesse Watters addresses the inconsistencies in the Secret Service's version of events of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. JESSE WATTERS: His first since dodging an assassin's bullet, or as he's calling it, the greatest earache he's ever had. And as the details keep dripping out, we have more questions. Tonight, we're learning that the gunman was on law enforcement's radar for three hours, and the Secret Service designated Crooks a threat 10 minutes before Trump took the stage. And the Secret Service never said, Mr. President, don't go out there. They let Trump take the stage anyway. And eight minutes later, he was shot.

MILWAUKEE — Oh, they’re friends again. It was reconciliation night Tuesday, day two of the Republican National Convention. Many of the GOP rivals that former President Donald Trump has mercilessly beaten in two Republican Party primaries took to the convention stage to tell American voters why they now love Trump. Or at least can plug their nostrils long enough to vote for the GOP nominee — in the case of Trump’s former United Nations Ambassador and defense industry darling Nikki Haley.

Republicans always seem to come home. Some sooner than others. Vivek Ramaswamy never really ran against him. Ron DeSantis threw his weight behind him within an hour of dropping out of the primary. But Nikki Haley, the last woman standing, she took her time. The endorsement took three full months to arrive. Donald Trump didn’t mind. The former president did not need her support to lock down a third consecutive nomination. He may not need it to return to the White House either. But as Haley walked onstage at the Republican National Convention Tuesday, Trump beamed. He listened with a bandaged ear from a box overlooking the arena

Donald Trump’s announcement that Ohio Sen. JD Vance is his vice-presidential pick was music to my ears. I’ve known Vance for more than a decade and can attest to his smarts, his seriousness and his undying devotion to America and its working class. He is an ideal pick for Trump and one that presages the transformation of the Republican Party into a true, multi-ethnic working-class coalition. I met JD at a political seminar in 2015. We quickly bonded over our shared interest in using public policy to help the country’s struggling working-class voters. In this pre-Trump age, that was not a popular position within the GOP. But that didn’t matter to

American model Amber Rose fired back at MSNBC's Joy Reid on Tuesday after the host criticized her address in support of former President Trump, dismissing her as "racially ambiguous." Rose spoke in front of a packed room at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Monday night, recalling her own political conversion and how she went from thinking Trump was a "racist," to supporting his movement. Reid wasted little time tearing into the model on MSNBC, cautioning Black voters from embracing the message that Rose, a person of color with mainstream fame, had delivered on stage.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley made her highly anticipated appearance at the Republican Convention, taking the stage to a mixture of cheers and boos from those in attendance. Haley, who was former President Donald Trump’s fiercest primary rival, gave the former president her "strong endorsement" during the appearance in Milwaukee, ending months of speculation on if she would throw her weight behind her former rival. But the initial reaction to Haley’s arrival stood in stark contrast to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Trump’s chief primary rival during the 2016 campaign, who received a standing ovation from those in the crowd, including Trump themselves.

The White House is now faced with a conundrum — how to make the case against Donald Trump as a quasi-Nazi while lowering the proverbial temperature after his near-assassination? Joe Biden’s Oval Office address calling for toning down the overheated rhetoric in our politics was fine as far as it went, except it included no mea culpa, no assurance that he’ll try to do better himself, no recognition that his political and media allies have been the worst offenders. Over-the-top attacks on Trump haven’t been incidental to the Democratic 2024 campaign, but central to it.

On Jan. 20, 2021, President Biden, in his Inauguration Day address, pledged his “whole soul is this: Bringing America together. Uniting our people. And uniting our nation.” In the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Saturday, our nation has never been less cohesive or more divided and bitter. Much of that fracture is solely because of Mr. Biden and his unrelenting attacks on Mr. Trump and his MAGA supporters — a whopping 74 million Americans to judge by the 2020 election returns. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Mr. Biden said

President Biden was attempting to convey the message that he was fit and able to continue on with his campaign and snapped at Crow when he politely expressed his concerns to the president.

President Joe Biden has been holding a series of calls with the various factions in the House Democratic Caucus, and they’ve not gone well. The call with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus devolved into total mayhem last week. On top of being late to the call, Rep. Mike Levin (D-CA) called on Biden to step aside directly, leading to the call's abruptly ending. No one could ask the president questions. It was very much the controlled, guard-railed, and staged antics that have marked this presidency. It’s all a show, with no real action or governing. A call with the Congressional Progressive Caucus had this awkward moment.
