The Federalist has a disturbing story emanating from the FBI: one of its many employees reportedly expressed disappointment that Donald Trump wasn’t assassinated on July 13. The employee, a former staffer with the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) unit, expressed a nasty glee over the attempted assassination of the former president. While not shocking given the extent of the rot within the FBI, it does add to the cause that Trump should clean house at the Justice Department should he regain his old job (via The Federalist): Jenna Howell, who is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) employee...

Is there a better sign that the DOJ is corrupt and need total elimination and replacment.

A lot of major housekeeping to do when DJT is back in office. Hopefully he will pick better people to place in these positions of power and authority. I like Pres. Trump and support him but he did pick some stinkers who did not serve him or America very well.

Let her have her fun. Come January, there will be a new AG and a new Homeland Security Director. It will seem like payback, but in reality it will be justice. I look forward to Comer and Jordan having a working lunch with the new AG. In my fantasy world, the new AG is Ted Cruz.

Had Saturday’s assassination attempt been carried out against President Joe Biden, we have no doubt we would have read about how the right’s dangerous rhetoric was behind it. We are old enough to remember more than a decade back when former Alaska governor Sarah Palin’s use of crosshairs imagery to identify congressional districts—or, as the Atlantic’s James Fallows put it, "extreme, implicitly violent political rhetoric and imagery"—was fingered as an incitement for former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s (D., Ariz.) shooter. (He was, in fact, a deranged individual with no discernible motivation, political or otherwise.)

Did terrorists just scout out a US Marine base? That’s outrageous enough, yet the story still remains far from clear. Indeed, a mountain of questions need answers. Fox News reports that one of the men had crossed the border illegally, yet was allowed to stay. The other reportedly overstayed his visa.

U.S. job growth slowed more than expected in October, a sign the labor market is finally softening in the face of higher interest rates, stubborn inflation and other economic uncertainties. Employers added 150,000 jobs in October, the Labor Department said in its monthly payroll report released Friday, missing the 180,000 jobs forecast by Refinitiv economists. The unemployment rate, meanwhile, unexpectedly ticked up to 3.9% — the highest level in nearly two years. The pickup in the jobless rate suggests that layoffs are on the rise; the survey of households shows that the number of workers laid off rose in October by 92,000 from the previous month.

The cost of goods and services rose 0.4 percent for a second consecutive month in September, challenging the view that the Federal Reserve’s rate hikes are still bringing down inflation. The personal consumption expenditure price index was expected to cool slightly from the prior month. Over the past year, the index is up 3.4 percent. That is unchanged from the August reading, data from the Commerce Department showed Friday. The Federal Reserve says it wants to bring PCE inflation down to two percent, a rate not seen since President Joe Biden took office in early 2021

Disney was not accountable to anyone,” observed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in his announcement kicking off his presidential campaign. “You know, it’s human nature: If there’s no accountability over any individual or entity, of course they’re going to behave differently than if you have normal accountability.” The truth of DeSantis’ words is perfectly demonstrated by Disney’s recent treatment of guests at Shades of Green, a military-owned hotel at Walt Disney World. Disney’s actions say a lot about how a company — one that used to be notable for its patriotism in the days of Walt — now regards U.S. Armed Forces families and veterans.

The proposal includes eliminating a tax benefit for landlords raising rents by over 5% annually, affecting those owning more than 50 units. BUTLER, Pa. — The Secret Service blamed local police for failing to secure the rooftop from which gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, insisting it was outside the perimeter the federal agency was tasked with protecting. Instead, securing and patrolling the factory grounds of AGR International Inc. — located about 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking Saturday — was the responsibility of local Pennsylvania police, Secret Service representative Anthony Gugliemi said, according to the New York Times. The Secret Service was only tasked with covering the grounds where Trump’s rally took place, with local police being recruited to assist with those efforts and
