'Why Butler?': Community grapples with
the aftermath of the Trump rally shooting

The small, rural city of Butler woke up Sunday morning in disbelief, grappling with the aftermath of an attempted assassination of a presidential candidate that took place too close to home. [SNIP] Mr. Watterson had driven by the rally while it was ongoing and noticed that the farm show grounds seemed to be lacking strict access and crowd control. He added that the layout of the grounds had multiple entryways. “There were people crowded around the fence. There were people everywhere, so the fact that someone could get on one of those buildings was not unlikely at all,” he said.

Why Butler? Look at the crowd. Mostly middle class, hard working, law abiding citizens. These are the kind of people that Democrats have been demonizing for years as dangerous MAGA types. It's hard for millions of viewers to square the Democrat rhetoric with the kind of crowd that Trump draws. Butler may have just broken the back of the Democrat smear machine.

Trump draws huge crowds. This could have happened anywhere he held a rally. Apparently, the SS was criminally negligent at this one. I don't know how we will protect DJT now that we can't trust them. Shields of some kind maybe? Trump won't like that and he is brave enough and defiant enough to nix that idea. Maybe prayer from us is his best protection.

Why Butler? Why Dallas? The attempted assassination in Butler and the assassination in Dallas have similarities - both shooters were not from the town, both were loners, strange people. I seriously suspect that Crooks was an Aspergers kid -"on the spectrum" as they say - which isn't in itself bad. Lots of brilliant people in the past, responsible for great advancements in science, would (in my totally non-professional opinion, but based on some experience) today be diagnosed with 'Asperger's Syndrome' . Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Dan Akroyd, and historical figures like Einstein and Tesla were (retroactively) diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. They make great engineers (and CPAs!). But today some physicians and psychiatrists try to 'medicate' the symptoms of Aspergers - which can cause more problems than just leaving it alone and accepting this kid may just be different, but not in a bad way. I hope the feds let us plebes know what medications this kid was on. If it seems that I speak from personal experience, yeah.

OT: #3, I’ve been a CPA for 30 years and I’m probably “on the spectrum”. Half my co-workers say I’m crazy and half say I’m a genius. I just say my brain works differently. No, no, no. There has been a violent attack on Trump supporters practically every month for the past 8 years. The 1st I remember was the attack at a Trump rally in San Jose in June 2016. After 8 years of one-sided violence you don’t get to say: “Let’s all get along.” You can’t be trusted.

It looks like the local cops were assigned to protect the areas outside the formal grounds of the event, and they screwed the pooch, majorly. Small town cops, probably not enough SS to give them any or much 'training' in what to do, and doing their normal "mall cop security"....meaning wandering around on the ground and never thinking about snipers on rooftops....because they are small town cops, and that doesn't happen.

Why Butler? Because that was within driving distance for the lunatic who was driven to hate Donald Trump because he doesn't have a life otherwise. He was going to be famous and now everybody knows his name. He's also dead.

From what I've read, security was very tight for the actual rally. Attendees were searched and anything deemed a possible weapon was confiscated, even umbrellas. Obviously, security around the perimeter was horrifyingly lax. Shame on the Secret Service!

What the hell happened - and how was it possible? These questions will be at the heart of the FBI investigation into probable multiple failures by the Secret Service and others in the lead-up to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. [SNIP] During 25 years with the FBI, I have seen how countless similar rallies were organised and I consider it highly likely that the Secret Service was responsible for security within an enclosed perimeter, while the local police took charge of the wider zone outside.

Campaigners have uncovered worrying teaching materials for the Pentagon's 160 military schools that many service members may see as unpatriotic and even scary. Training manuals for its 8,000 teachers advise that Thanksgiving feasts have no historical basis and that America was founded on land 'stolen' from natives. Though uncontroversial for some, Adam Andrzejewski, who uncovered the documents via public records requests, calls it a 'perverse' way to teach kids of service members. His revelations come as Republicans and Democrats clash in the Senate over LGBTQ+ troops and other controversies in the $886 billion defense bill.

When the English arrived in Australia, they discovered tribesmen using curved pieces of wood that they called “bou-mar-rangs” or “boomerangs” which fly away and come back at you. Politics has lots of boomerangs. The latest throwing stick to fly out and come circling back when least expected was a Democrat conspiracy aimed at keeping Trump out of the White House. [SNIP] Even if Biden remains the nominee and wins, and then plops, there’s no mechanism for many electors voting for anyone else and that makes for a very split ticket. Democrat electors would have a choice of selecting a dead (or brain dead) man or nothing.

[SNIP] The town situated just west of the state capitol in Columbus has been a target of Haitian immigrants at least since 2014, and in the ensuing years, some ten thousand had moved to the Rust Belt town. But in the last four years alone, that population has ballooned to more than 20,000. The influx is causing serious pressures to mount on the town.

Law enforcement officials admitted it was “surprising” how the gunman was able to get so many shots off in the attempted assassination on former President Donald Trump before he was taken out by Secret Service snipers. During a press conference early Sunday, officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police deferred several questions about security to the Secret Service — who were notably absent. When asked if he was surprised at the number of shots the gunman was able to take at a former president, Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, said:

The gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump Saturday was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, sources told The Post. Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pa., squeezed off shots — one of which grazed Trump in the ear — at an outdoor rally in Butler, just outside Pittsburgh. Sources said Crooks was planted on a roof of a manufacturing plant more than 130 yards away from the stage at Butler Farm Show grounds. He was killed by Secret Service snipers. An AR-style rifle was later recovered. Bethel Park is a village 40 miles south of where the Butler rally was held. Why Crooks fired on the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is unclear.

The proposal includes eliminating a tax benefit for landlords raising rents by over 5% annually, affecting those owning more than 50 units. BUTLER, Pa. — The Secret Service blamed local police for failing to secure the rooftop from which gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, insisting it was outside the perimeter the federal agency was tasked with protecting. Instead, securing and patrolling the factory grounds of AGR International Inc. — located about 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking Saturday — was the responsibility of local Pennsylvania police, Secret Service representative Anthony Gugliemi said, according to the New York Times.
