The left has been painting the right as extremists since Obama took office, steadily ramping up the rhetoric ever since. They have repeatedly tried to poke the bear and cause the right to behave badly. In that time, they've shot a congressman, caused the near assassination of a SCOTUS justice, and the near-death of Donald Trump. The right has not, as they had hoped, gone wild by taking to the streets, burning down cities, rioting, looting, etc. You know, engaging in the behavior they would employ. So now, they are completely exposed, and so they want to sweep it away using the usual tactics - "both sides"ing it. The right needs to not do what they are so prone to do, which is join in with the, "yes, let's all be careful, tone it down, etc.". They need to make sure the left has to own what they've said and done by repeatedly exposing it. It is the left, not the right, who has engaged in violent rhetoric and behavior and we must not go along with helping them cover it up.
