A House Republican leader is planning for an oversight hearing with the U.S. Secret Service after President Donald Trump was shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening.
Sunday morning the FBI identified Thomas Matthew Crooks as the gunman who opened fire at Trump's rally. The Secret Service reported that the shooter and one rally attendee are dead. Two spectators are critically injured following the shooting.
House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Kentucky, made the request for a briefing with the Secret Service and said he would call Kimberly Cheatle, the agency's director, to testify at a hearing.

BlackRock Inc., the world’s largest money manager, has pulled an ad that briefly featured Thomas Crooks, the 20-year-old who shot and wounded former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
The company said Crooks was a student at Bethel Park High School and appeared in the 2022 ad with other unpaid teens.
“In 2022, we ran an ad featuring a teacher from Bethel Park High School, in which several unpaid students briefly appeared in the background, including Thomas Matthew Crooks,” the company said in a statement to Reuters Sunday, adding that the ad has been pulled.

A staff member of a Mississippi Democratic congressman took to social media and said she wished the shooter who tried to take Donald Trump's life had better aim.
On Saturday evening, shortly after Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, attempted to assassinate the former president during a rally in Pennsylvania, Jacqueline Marsaw, the field director for Mississippi Congressman Bennie G. Thompson shared a vile post on Facebook about the attack.
Trump was left bloodied and hurt during the assassination attempt as he was seen suddenly grabbing hold of his ear as loud bangs rang out and whizzed by before he ducked to the floor.

On Saturday afternoon on a sunny day in Pennsylvania, the unthinkable happened. Minutes after Donald Trump took the stage for a political rally, shots rang out, and the former president dropped to the ground.
Live footage showed blood pouring from his ear as he was escorted off by Secret Service, pumping his fist in the air to let the crowd, and the world know that he had survived. Trump could be seen mouthing the word "fight" in defiance of the attempt on his life.
For those who are sane, it was a moment of resilience and a perfectly reasonable response in the face of such a heinous act.

MSNBC host Al Sharpton said Friday on “Morning Joe” that it was “offensive” President Joe Biden only asked white reporters questions at his NATO Summit press conference but still expects black voters to support him while leaving them out of the conversation.
Co-host Willie Geist said, “There is deep concern and I know you’re hearing it, too, that Joe Biden could lose it all for Democrats.”
Sharpton said, “I’ m hearing it, yes but I’m also hearing, not so fast because if not Biden, then how do we do a transition that doesn’t put us in a more dangerous position? I was in Milwaukee yesterday doing a eulogy for a black man

Duke Medical School claims it is “white supremacy culture” to expect people of color to be on time in a strategic plan for creating an “anti-racist workforce.”
The medical school said its goal is to “catalyze anti-racist practice through education” in a 2021 plan titled “Dismantling Racism and Advancing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the School of Medicine.” The guide — praised by the school’s dean — called out what it deemed “white supremacy culture,” with its purported nitpicking about being on time, dress code, speech and work style. It also contains a series of negative terminology vis-à-vis white culture.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are throwing their support behind President Biden as a growing number of Democrats call for him to suspend his 2024 campaign.
On Sunday, Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) issued a sharp rebuttal of those calling for Biden to step aside.
“Any ‘leader’ calling for President Biden to drop out needs to get their priorities straight and stop undermining this incredible actual leader who has delivered real results for our country,” Wilson said in a statement. “And when you contrast that with a dangerous figure like Donald Trump pushing a radical agenda to be dictator on day one and destroy our democracy,

A “mass brawl” between passengers onboard a Ryanair “flight from hell” caused the pilot to make an emergency landing after taking off in a seemingly never-ending chaotic scene ignited by a man asking to switch his seat.
The London Stansted Airport-bound flight departed from Agadir, Morocco, on Wednesday when the chaos erupted at 30,000 feet in the air, the Sun reported.
Startling video obtained by the outlet shows passengers screaming at each other from across the plane as panic-stricken airline staff try their best to calm the unhinged travelers.
