Former and potentially future President Donald Trump was shot at his rally in Butler County in Pennsylvania on Saturday night, an incident that could have been much worse had Trump turned his head a different way. Secret Service agents quickly sprang into action to escort him off of the stage and to safety. In light of such serious news, it's worth reminding that Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who was chairman of the January 6 Select Committee, just months ago introduced legislation to deny presidents who were convicted of felonies. Trump was ultimately convicted of 34 charges in New York City on May 30.
Former President Donald Trump on Saturday night issued a statement after he was shot at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania just hours earlier.
The presumed 2024 GOP presidential candidate confirmed that a bullet had “pierced the upper part” of his ear.
“Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured,” former President Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

"We couldn't see [Trump], but we could hear him. So we walked up probably five to seven minutes from Trump speaking—I'm estimating here, I've no idea. On July 8, CNN reported that while defending his campaign in a video call with top donors, President Joe Biden said:

Five days later, someone apparently took Biden up on his word and tried to assassinate Donald Trump at a campaign rally north of Pittsburgh.
On Monday, during an appearance on “Morning Joe,” President Biden used violent rhetoric about Donald Trump.
“It’s time to put Trump in the bullseye,” Biden said.

Greg, the witness, said the man had crawled on top of a building just outside the event in Butler County on Friday evening.

So begins Thursday’s New York Times editorial, ominously casting the words against a black-and-white image of an American flag fluttering in the background. The Times renders these indictments with the gravitas of an undertaker, like Moses descending the mountain with stone tablets in hand. In reality, the Times has proven it’s entirely unfit to evaluate the fitness of presidential candidates, whether it’s Joe Biden or Donald Trump.
If the Times were qualified to speak to the American people about presidential fitness, it would not have misled them about Joe Biden’s health less than a week before the first 2024 presidential debate.

A House Democrat directly asked President Biden to end his campaign for a second term on a Friday conference call meant to shore up support among Hispanic party members in Congress — the most direct known request by an elected lawmaker for the 81-year-old to give up his re-election bid.

Anonymous sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Musk had donated a “sizeable amount” to America PAC. The Super PAC has reportedly been the “biggest spender on direct voter contacts” and has spent roughly “$15.8 million so far,” according to the outlet.
