The Joshua tree. The beloved gnarled California icon—revered by desert aficionados and nature conservationists and considered to be endangered—is nevertheless under assault in a weird twist: environmentalists battling environmentalists.
The tree is held in such high regard by people who love the natural world that supergroup U2 named perhaps their finest album after it, titling their 1987 multi-hit record simply "The Joshua Tree."
But woke is pitted against woke, as the ancient trees now face the chopping block as the crazed "green energy" crowd is poised to destroy the land and thousands of these ancestral growths:

First they came for the birds and bats and I did not speak out. Then they came for the whales and other marine life and I did not speak out. Then they came for the Joshua Trees and...
Although many are speaking out - we're just being ignored. Too much money in all these "green projects."

Sue the hell out of these pukes. That is what they always do. They need a 5 year environmental impact study, and a plan for saving the endangered, rare spotted desert toad, and the equally critical lowland desert rat.
And the Joshua tree grows NOWHERE but the California desert, and is itself rare and endangered....by these insane eyesore 'solar plants'.

I know someone who works with some of the existing desert solar plants located in the Mojave Desert. The improvements in technology means that those thousands of panels need replacing, but rather than recycle or remove the outdated panels to a landfill (that would cost too much money) they just smash them and leave them lying on the ground beneath the arrays.

So whose off-shore account is being enhanced by this happy action?
It has to be either $$$$.
Or, it’s stupidity.
Neither a good look.

Huh. But I heard the Cal greenies decided solar panels are contributing to climate change because these are reflecting heat back into the atmosphere. So, they decided to ban more solar panels then.

Where are all the "Tree Huggers" when we need them? This is an abomination. Trees emit Oxygen and consume Carbon Dioxide. Don't those left-weird loonies understand that? Newsome has to go NOW!!! If he continues there will be nothing left but solar panels and sand.

Just think how many solar panels you could nail to the general Sherman tree. And the rim of the Grand Canyon replete with thousands of wind turbines. Imagine how many megawatts of panels you could hang off the statue of liberty. It’s all gonna be fantastic.

Evil bastards! Those solar units will be dead in 7 years and in need of replacement. However, by then they'll have learned that solar investment never breaks even, so they won't replace them... but tell that to the dead Joshua trees.

Remember when an owl in a tree, tiny fish in a stream, or wildflower in a field was enough to stop entire projects due to their "impact" on those things? Apparently that is outdated environmentalism. Today, it is OK to destroy those things as long as it helps achieve the politically approved environmental agenda. We don't need Joshua trees, owls, fish, or flowers anyway when we have "grand energy".

In some states and cities cutting down a tree on your own property can land you in bankruptcy court, but if it's for solar power there are a lot of hands out for cash.
