An ally of former President Donald Trump has withdrawn a resolution submitted to the Republican National Committee to try and get the ex-president declared the presumptive nominee before he amassed a majority of delegates to win the primary.
David Bossie, an RNC committeeman from Maryland, pulled the resolution Thursday night, a person familiar told DailyMail.com, after Trump said it wasn't necessary. A spokesperson for Trump's sole rival, former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley, had earlier on Thursday lashed out at the maneuver. The pause on federal student loan payments ended in October 2023, but many of the 43 million borrowers who owe a collective $1.7 trillion are still struggling or outright refusing to submit payments.

The Biden administration will reportedly pause a decision on approving what would be one of the world’s largest gas export hubs, amid concern from climate experts that greenlighting the project would create a “carbon mega bomb”.
The project, Calcasieu Pass 2, or CP2, would be positioned near the rapidly eroding Louisiana shoreline and be the biggest such export terminal in the US and part of a huge expansion of new gas infrastructure along the Gulf of Mexico. Former Trump White House official Peter Navarro was sentenced Thursday to four months behind bars for flouting a subpoena from the House select committee that investigated the 2021 Capitol riot.
Navarro, 74, argued that he couldn’t comply with the subpoena for his testimony and relevant documents because of executive privilege, but a DC jury convicted him in September of two counts of contempt of Congress.
“I haven’t heard a word of contrition from Dr. Navarro since this case began,” US District Judge Amit Mehta said before imposing the penalty.

I graduated from college in the 1980s. I took my bachelor’s degree in 2.5 years by taking overloads—up to 22 credits--every semester, and full loads every summer and interim session, as well as a number of correspondence courses from another university when I had to have a class that wasn’t offered when I needed it. At that state college, my education cost a bit less than $10,000. I was an adult, paying my own freight, and needed to get back into the workforce as quickly as possible. I took out no student loans.
Tuition then was a fraction of current college tuition.

She had earlier come in third in the recent Iowa caucuses behind Ron DeSantis. But DeSantis, not she, dropped out of the race. He then endorsed front-runner Donald Trump. By contrast, Haley confidently announced that at last there was a two-person, head-to-head race. So she confidently headed to New Hampshire.
Her subtext was that if she did not win the upcoming two-person primaries, she would come in “second” rather than “last.” Her supporters outspent all the candidates in Iowa and would do so again in New Hampshire.

Kenneth Smith, sentenced to death for murdering Elizabeth Sennett in 1988, objected to being executed by nitrogen hypoxia because of the potential for the state to botch the procedure. He alleged it would violate his right to be free of cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution.
He is scheduled to be executed on Thursday.
The brief court order simply noted that Smith's application was denied. No justices publicly dissented.
