Ford to delay spending $12 billion on
EV expansion due to slowing customer demand

Ford announced Thursday that it will delay about $12 billion in planned spending to increase EV manufacturing capacity. Ford CFO John Lawler made the statements in a media briefing. The major U.S. automaker had expected electric vehicle sales to increase at a much higher pace, according to CNBC. Persistently high interest rates are slowing the pace of demand for EVs, Reuters reported this week.

Comments:

It will only be a short delay. They'll go back into production on the 12th of Never.

Slowing demand or no demand? The only demand comes from well-to-do getting $7500 which they could have afforded.

The government was going to force the auto companies to build a bunch of cars they couldn't sell because nobody wants them. I would also bet the UAW had something to do with this - it takes much fewer workers to build an electric car. Ford's experience with their electric F150 truck taught them to avoid this whole liberal wet dream.

Things like this happen when the government intervenes with supply and demand. A few other instances: a. We're going to force America to switch to the metric system (1975) b. We're going to force all weapon systems to be written in Ada (1991) All these things were thwarted By the law of supply and demand.

Once again the market wins. Why would you want to pay twice to three times for a vehicle that doesn't perform as well as a gas vehicle. Oh, I forgot, you want to be able to virtue signal about how woke you are. Good luck with that.

If it weren’t taken for granted by now that everything that comes out of the Biden administration is a colossal screwup, it would be shocking that anyone shaping foreign policy for the White House is still employed there. National security adviser Jake Sullivan’s embarrassing, 7,000-word drivel in Foreign Affairs magazine should leave no doubt. “The Middle East is quieter than it has been in decades,” read his piece — which went to press just days before Hamas’ savage attack on innocent Israelis.

Remember when Sen. Rand Paul accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of funding China’s Wuhan virus lab? Fauci replied, “Sen. Paul, you do not know what you’re talking about.” The media loved it. Last month, at a small church in East Oakland, Calif., hundreds of fed-up city residents gathered outside of a community safety meeting held by Mayor Sheng Thao and District Attorney Pamela Price. The group was as diverse as it was united, and despite the reduction in their quality of life over the past year, there was a palpable energy of hope. The MTA’s rollout of its multibillion-dollar fleet of new subway cars has gone off-track. The agency confirmed this week it was pulling six of the seven ballyhooed R211 rail cars out of service due to equipment problems — just months after the high-tech trains were unveiled. The shiny new subway cars — which feature wider doors, security cameras and digital displays — had issues including leaky gearboxes that can cause a train’s wheels to lock up and drag along the rails. A video posted online shows one of the new trains apparently affected by the mechanical issue loudly clanging its way through the Nostrand Avenue station on Oct. 21.

The massive bronze sculpture of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia, has been melted down and will be transformed into a new piece of public art. The statue was at the center of a 2017 controversy in which local governments in Virginia wanted to remove Confederate monuments including Lee's. Comer previously revealed the discovery of $200,000 check that James Biden made to Joe Biden in 2018 linked to the failing healthcare firm Americore. The White House has claimed that James was repaying a loan to his brother, though Comer has expressed skepticism of that story.

President Joe Biden is headed to the Middle East to show solidarity with Israel, but he should use the occasion to do something even more vital: prove that he understands the region’s woes now stem largely from the regime in Iran — and announce major plans to hold it accountable. What kind of plans? For starters, Biden should immediately end all further nuclear talks and reimpose the toughest possible sanctions on Tehran. As it stands, his sanctions relief has allowed Tehran to move from just $4 billion in available global reserves when Biden took office to over $40 billion today.

Thousands gathered in Istanbul on Saturday for what was touted as the “Great Palestine Meeting.” The event was a pro-Palestine rally aimed at condemning Israel’s recent military actions in Gaza, where Hamas headquarters are located. Hamas terrorists were responsible for a deadly attack that claimed the lives of 1,400 Jews in southern Israel. One must ask the question: What did people expect Israel to do in response? Not retaliate? When an entity like Hamas, designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, and Israel, engages in violent acts aimed at killing civilians, it is not only Israel’s right but also its obligation to defend its citizens.
