NYC’s new high-tech MTA subway cars
are already out of service

The MTA’s rollout of its multibillion-dollar fleet of new subway cars has gone off-track. The agency confirmed this week it was pulling six of the seven ballyhooed R211 rail cars out of service due to equipment problems — just months after the high-tech trains were unveiled. The shiny new subway cars — which feature wider doors, security cameras and digital displays — had issues including leaky gearboxes that can cause a train’s wheels to lock up and drag along the rails. A video posted online shows one of the new trains apparently affected by the mechanical issue loudly clanging its way through the Nostrand Avenue station on Oct. 21.

Comments:

Last week - - I recommended that the NYC Transit Authority should be put in charge of the Hamas tunnels - - which would then become useless in a matter of weeks. Now do you see what I meant?

A result of DIVERSITY being more important than competence in the hiring process for this project's design engineers? High failure rates give us dangerous products and a reduced quality of life.

High tech subway car is like....a high tech wedge for splitting wood, a non-sequitur. Subway trains were fully developed about 100 years ago. The only differences today are interior styling being more "modern" than in the old days...and less comfortable.

Maybe the tracks the cars run on are causing the problems.

Re #5, you are probably right. It's not glamorous or even visible to fix the tracks, but they are probably 100 years old, too, and in dire need of repair.

New York City can't seem to catch a break on anything. I wonder if their many problems have something to do with the series of democrat mayors they have elected after Rudi Guiliani? The people who haven't moved out by now must really love the place.

I worked for three different railroads without leaving the building I worked in. The mismanagement and poor attitude of the workforce was absolutely amazing. Ten cent parts that would cripple a train were ordered by the dozen instead of by the millions. If a car was repaired to the point that it made it out the door it counted as a "make" even if it had to be brought back in during the next shift because it wouldn't move. I had to leave, it drove me crazy. The government would just pour money down the useless pit that they have created. This was over forty five years ago and I've learned that things have not changed one bit.

If it weren’t taken for granted by now that everything that comes out of the Biden administration is a colossal screwup, it would be shocking that anyone shaping foreign policy for the White House is still employed there. National security adviser Jake Sullivan’s embarrassing, 7,000-word drivel in Foreign Affairs magazine should leave no doubt. “The Middle East is quieter than it has been in decades,” read his piece — which went to press just days before Hamas’ savage attack on innocent Israelis.

Remember when Sen. Rand Paul accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of funding China’s Wuhan virus lab? Fauci replied, “Sen. Paul, you do not know what you’re talking about.” The media loved it. Vanity Fair smirked, “Fauci Once Again Forced to Basically Call Rand Paul a Sniveling Moron.” But in 2021 the magazine changed its tune, admitting, “In Major Shift, NIH Admits Funding Risky Virus Research in Wuhan . . . The massive bronze sculpture of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia, has been melted down and will be transformed into a new piece of public art. The statue was at the center of a 2017 controversy in which local governments in Virginia wanted to remove Confederate monuments including Lee's. In August 2017, a white supremacist rally in connection to the proposed removal resulted in the three people dying and multiple injuries.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Thursday said that his committee does not possess any bank records to show that President Joe Biden ever gave a loan to his brother James and asked that the president's legal team produce documentation of the alleged loan. Comer previously revealed the discovery of $200,000 check that James Biden made to Joe Biden in 2018 linked to the failing healthcare firm Americore. The White House has claimed that James was repaying a loan to his brother, though Comer has expressed skepticism of that story.

President Joe Biden is headed to the Middle East to show solidarity with Israel, but he should use the occasion to do something even more vital: prove that he understands the region’s woes now stem largely from the regime in Iran — and announce major plans to hold it accountable. What kind of plans? For starters, Biden should immediately end all further nuclear talks and reimpose the toughest possible sanctions on Tehran. As it stands, his sanctions relief has allowed Tehran to move from just $4 billion in available global reserves when Biden took office to over $40 billion today.

After investing billions into a green energy agenda mimicking President Joe Biden’s federal rules, American automakers are quickly learning that Americans are not buying electric vehicles (EVs) at the rates they expected. A comprehensive report in the Detroit Free Press details how the latest data reveals that while the Biden administration is pushing hard for automakers to turn out EVs, car companies are unable to sell the models. Data from Edmunds.com shows that in September 2022, for example, EVs sat on dealership lots for just 21 days before they were sold. Today, EVs are sitting on dealership lots for 65 days. Automakers, as Breitbart News reported, are well aware of the issue.

The British capital was once again mobbed with pro-Palestine protesters, with numbers matching demonstrations held in London last week during which activists were filmed calling for “Jihad“. On Saturday, protesters flying a flag saying “fight for revolution”, were filmed chanting: “From London to Gaza, we’ll have an Intifada”. The term Intifada, which literally translates to “Stone Uprising”, refers to years of violent Palestinian riots against Israel starting in 1987 on the 20th anniversary

Thousands gathered in Istanbul on Saturday for what was touted as the “Great Palestine Meeting.” The event was a pro-Palestine rally aimed at condemning Israel’s recent military actions in Gaza, where Hamas headquarters are located. Hamas terrorists were responsible for a deadly attack that claimed the lives of 1,400 Jews in southern Israel. One must ask the question: What did people expect Israel to do in response? Not retaliate? When an entity like Hamas, designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, and Israel, engages in violent acts aimed at killing civilians, it is not only Israel’s right but also its obligation to defend its citizens.

Archaeologists believe they are one step closer to confirming the resting place of Noah's Ark. A team excavating a geological formation in Turkey has aged rock and soil samples they believe contain ruins of the vessel, which puts the site at the same time the Bible puts the Great Flood 5,000 years ago. The project began in 2021 and is ongoing, but the initial analysis determined samples to contain clayey and marine materials and seafood. According to the researchers, these results mean human activity was present on the boat-shaped mound between 5500 and 3000 BC.
