'Out of control' How Oakland, California,
is falling apart

Original Article

Last month, at a small church in East Oakland, Calif., hundreds of fed-up city residents gathered outside of a community safety meeting held by Mayor Sheng Thao and District Attorney Pamela Price. The group was as diverse as it was united, and despite the reduction in their quality of life over the past year, there was a palpable energy of hope. Seneca Scott, a community leader, hosted the get-together under the banner of his Neighbors Together Oakland (NTO) organization.

Comments:

Don't worry. All of this will change - - once Gov. Brylcreem becomes president.

Oakland has also lost all 3 major league sports teams (the A's are on their way out). That has to be a major league record.

If it weren’t taken for granted by now that everything that comes out of the Biden administration is a colossal screwup, it would be shocking that anyone shaping foreign policy for the White House is still employed there. National security adviser Jake Sullivan’s embarrassing, 7,000-word drivel in Foreign Affairs magazine should leave no doubt. “The Middle East is quieter than it has been in decades,” read his piece — which went to press just days before Hamas’ savage attack on innocent Israelis.

Remember when Sen. Rand Paul accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of funding China’s Wuhan virus lab? Fauci replied, “Sen. Paul, you do not know what you’re talking about.” The media loved it. Vanity Fair smirked, “Fauci Once Again Forced to Basically Call Rand Paul a Sniveling Moron.” But in 2021 the magazine changed its tune, admitting, “In Major Shift, NIH Admits Funding Risky Virus Research in Wuhan . . . Paul might have been onto something.”

The MTA’s rollout of its multibillion-dollar fleet of new subway cars has gone off-track. The agency confirmed this week it was pulling six of the seven ballyhooed R211 rail cars out of service due to equipment problems — just months after the high-tech trains were unveiled. The shiny new subway cars — which feature wider doors, security cameras and digital displays — had issues including leaky gearboxes that can cause a train’s wheels to lock up and drag along the rails. A video posted online shows one of the new trains apparently affected by the mechanical issue loudly clanging its way through the Nostrand Avenue station on Oct. 21.

The massive bronze sculpture of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia, has been melted down and will be transformed into a new piece of public art. The statue was at the center of a 2017 controversy in which local governments in Virginia wanted to remove Confederate monuments including Lee's. In August 2017, a white supremacist rally in connection to the proposed removal resulted in the three people dying and multiple injuries.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Thursday said that his committee does not possess any bank records to show that President Joe Biden ever gave a loan to his brother James and asked that the president's legal team produce documentation of the alleged loan. Comer previously revealed the discovery of $200,000 check that James Biden made to Joe Biden in 2018 linked to the failing healthcare firm Americore. The White House has claimed that James was repaying a loan to his brother, though Comer has expressed skepticism of that story.

The “Flood Brooklyn for Palestine” demonstration devolved into chaos as night fell, with protesters completely shutting down traffic, screaming at police and lighting small fires in the middle of the roadways. The aggressive protesters dug their heels into the ground when the NYPD tried to push them out of 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue

President Joe Biden is headed to the Middle East to show solidarity with Israel, but he should use the occasion to do something even more vital: prove that he understands the region’s woes now stem largely from the regime in Iran — and announce major plans to hold it accountable. What kind of plans? For starters, Biden should immediately end all further nuclear talks and reimpose the toughest possible sanctions on Tehran. As it stands, his sanctions relief has allowed Tehran to move from just $4 billion in available global reserves when Biden took office to over $40 billion today.

Nikki Haley is slowly rising in the Republican presidential primary polls. She put in good performances in the first two RNC debates and it is starting to pay off. Haley and the other Republicans running in the primary have been slow to criticize Trump or draw sharp distinctions between his record and what they pledge to do in office. That’s a problem when the frontrunner, Trump, is so far ahead in the polls. Haley spoke out in Las Vegas on Saturday at the Republican Jewish Coalition annual summit. Washington Post associate editor and New York Times columnist freaked out on Friday’s PBS NewsHour at the news that Republicans selected Mike Johnson to be the new Speaker of the House by portraying him as a “far-right” religious extremist out to impose “Christian nationalism” on the country. Noting Johnson’s relative obscurity, Capehart predicted, “And the more information we find out about him and the more information the American people find out about him, the more I think they're going to be uncomfortable, from his pushing for a national abortion ban, to introducing legislation for a federal so-called Don't Say Gay Bill, his comments on homosexuality and same-sex marriage.”

A Post examination of Open Society Foundations records shows Soros’ grant-making network gave $13.7 million of the money through Tides Center, a deep-pocketed lefty advocacy group that sponsors several nonprofits who’ve justified Hamas’ bloody attacks while claiming Palestinians obsessed with the eradication of the Jewish state are the real victims.

Senate Democrats are working with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.) and a handful of Republicans on a rarely used procedural tactic to defeat Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s (R-Ala.) blockade of more than 360 military promotions, a stalemate that has consumed the Senate for months. Democrats are looking at using a standing order resolution to move a block of more than 300 nonpolitical military nominees who have been stalled for months because of Tuberville’s holds to protest the Department of Defense’s (DOD) abortion policies.

If you want an indicator of how lost Western civilization has become, go to your kids’ school and check their rules on fighting. Most likely, you’ll find out if two kids get into a fight, both get suspended, regardless of whether one was a punk bully who started it and the other was simply defending himself or some little kid. This is a moral disaster, of course – violence in the defense of what is right is a moral obligation and a symbol of a greater rot within society. This is the kind of rule created by middle-aged, divorced cat women who can neither find nor satisfy a man

On Friday evening, Harvard President Claudine Gay gave a speech to Harvard Hillel that was adapted in Forward. Gay forthrightly admitted that Harvard has an anti-Semitism problem: Here in the U.S., we are witnessing a surge in anti-Jewish incidents and rhetoric across the nation — and on our own campus. The ancient specter of antisemitism, that persistent and corrosive hatred, has returned with renewed force. A recent ADL report found that incidents of antisemitism had almost tripled over the past six years nationally. Here at Harvard, I’ve heard story after story of Jewish students feeling increasingly uneasy or even threatened on campus.

Saturday Night Live took on 80-year-old President Joe Biden in its latest episode over concerns about his age. In a rollicking cold open, SNL’s Mikey Day — taking over the role of the president from cast-mate James Austin Johnson — portrayed Biden as a man wanting to assuage voter concerns about his age. His idea to win over skeptics was to climb a ladder in the Oval Officer to put up Halloween decorations. “I want to put everyone at ease,” said Day as Biden. “Nothing puts people at ease like an 80-year-old man hanging Halloween decoration.”

Secretary of State Antony Blinken contends that Hamas would gain no “greater” victory “than allowing its brutality to send us down a path of terrorism and nihilism. We must not let it.” You can hear echoes of Barack Obama’s insufferable moral equivalencies imbued in that statement. The contention is a not-so-subtle warning to Israel, who will almost surely enter Gaza and try to dismantle the Hamas terror state — which has been indirectly and directly funded not only by Iran, the European Union, and the United Nations but also by the Obama and Biden administrations. The insinuation, of course, is that Israel needs to temper its inclination to engage in “terrorism and nihilism.
