FAIRFAX, Va. — Johnny Depp won his bombshell defamation case Wednesday against Amber Heard after a Virginia jury substantiated the claim that his ex-wife sullied his reputation and damaged his career when she wrote about becoming a “public figure representing domestic abuse” following the couple’s spilt.
The panel of seven in Fairfax decided to award the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star a total $15 million in damages after deliberating for about 13 hours.

As we prepare to enter the High Holy Month of Pride, the children’s toymaker Mattel debuts its latest creation: Tranny Barbie, modeled after the trans actor Laverne Cox. Mattel saith:
Laverne Cox is an award-winning actress, producer, writer, and prominent LGBTQ+ advocate. We’re proud to honor her in the Barbie Tribute Collection, to help amplify her message of moving beyond societal expectations to live more authentically.
“Authentically,” as defined by a major corporation. There is nothing that Woke Capitalism™ can’t co-opt. Meanwhile, bigots aren’t allowed to drink Sam Adams beer during the High Holy Month.

When “Top Gun” came out in 1986, it helped drive a surge of interest in flying for the U.S. military, including a 10 percent spike in service academy applications. (snip) A year ago, the U.S. Army released a 2-minute cartoon narrated by Cpl. Emma Malonelord and ostensibly depicting her childhood. (snip) The ad makes our military — the members of which I deeply respect — appear instead like a bunch of kindergarteners. Emma’s reason for joining up is selfish; it’s not because she wants to sacrifice for a cause she believes in,

So, here you are again, surrounded by people you genuinely like and with whom you would like to share everything. But you know there’d be a steep price to pay if you tell these folks exactly how you feel: that the world seems to be spinning out of control.
You think it’s obvious that things are totally nuts. But if the people with whom you associate week in and week out knew you stood against things like critical race theory, transgender reassignment for young children, and canceling folks who won’t take an experimental “vaccine” would immediately silence you, shun you, and find a way to get rid of you.

California is set to release its highly-anticipated report on reparations on Wednesday, concluding the work of a statewide “task force” dedicated to discovering so-called “systemic racism” in the state and determining methods for redistributing wealth to black residents.
According to the Associated Press, the report is set to include such propositions as expanding voter registration, further restrictions on police and harsher punishments for individual officers, and making improvements to black neighborhoods. It will also recommend the creation of a new office that would help black Californians prove their lineage to determine if they were descended from slaves, at which point they would be eligible for financial compensation.

Kevin Clinesmith must feel like an idiot for pleading guilty without a trial after a D.C.-area jury acquitted Clinton co-conspirator Michael Sussman for his role in the plot to frame Donald Trump for colluding with the Russians, supposedly to steal the 2016 election. Sussman’s D.C.-based jury which featured partisan Democrat donors rendered a quick “not-guilty” verdict. While the Left undoubtedly sees the acquittal as another “lawfare” victory against the bad orange man, that victory did not come without cost to its enabling allies. First, the acquittal further reinforces the impression of a two-tiered justice system in which the politics and privilege of the accused determine the outcome.

There is very little that surprises me, but this is completely stunning. An FBI whistleblower came forth to inform Rep Jim Jordan and Rep Matt Gaetz that the FBI maintains a workspace inside the law firm of Perkins Coie. {Direct Rumble Link}
In response to a letter sent by Rep. Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan, Perkins Coie, the legal arm of the DNC and Hillary Clinton, admitted they have been operating an FBI workspace in their Washington D.C. office since 2012. Pay attention to that date, it matters. This is a huge development.

“Thou shalt not steal my repro rights,"
"Keep your politics out of my uterus."
“I am a woman not a womb.”
Crowds of angry women chanted slogans like these outside the Supreme Court after the leak of the draft majority opinion in the Dobbs case suggesting that the Court might overturn Roe v. Wade. Pro-choice advocates believe that abortion empowers women. That abortion frees women from the shackles of pregnancy, motherhood, and child rearing. That being in favor of abortion is pro-woman.
But is it really?
In my college years, I had to decide whether abortion would be a good solution for me as a woman.

A high school in a Chicago is implementing a race-based grading system “to adjust classroom grading scales to account for skin color or ethnicity of its students.”
The move is necessary, advocates say, because “traditional grading practices perpetuate inequities,” a slide used in a presentation said.
Students, depending on their race, will not be held accountable for missing class, misbehaving in school, or for failing to turn in assignments. (snip) “Teachers may unintentionally let non-academic factors—like student behavior or whether a student showed up to virtual class—interfere with their final evaluation of students,” Sullivan said.

ROME — The leader of a dissident Catholic LGBT advocacy group has praised Pope Francis’ choice of San Diego Bishop Robert W. McElroy to become a cardinal, calling McElroy “the kind of prelate our church needs.”
Francis DeBernardo, the executive director of New Ways Ministry, said in a statement Monday that the appointment of McElroy as a cardinal “will help to re-shape the episcopacy of the Catholic Church in the U.S., which has been overwhelmingly and vehemently anti-LGBTQ.”
New Ways Ministry “welcomes the appointment of San Diego’s Bishop Robert McElroy as a cardinal,” DeBernardo said, as one “who will stretch out a hand, not a fist, to the LGBTQ community.”

An appellate court in California has held that bumblebees are fish:
The issue presented here is whether the bumble bee, a terrestrial invertebrate, falls within the definition of fish, as that term is used in the definitions of endangered species in section 2062, threatened species in section 2067, and candidate species (i.e., species being considered for listing as endangered or threatened species) in section 2068 of the Act.
It takes 35 pages of tortured logic in an opinion that reads like a parody, but the court concludes that bumblebees indeed are fish within the meaning of California’s environmental laws.

I lived about 15 miles from Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1994 to 2012, in a rural area where many Army officers and members of the various Special Forces groups based there made their home. After 9/11, our area was immediately impacted as Fort Bragg forces were some of the first deployed in the War on Terror. We were reminded daily of the sacrifices these families were making – the dad who wasn’t there to participate in Little League with the kids or read a bedtime story or attend awards ceremonies at the elementary school, or any of the hundreds of little things that make up family life.
