Last year, the United Methodist Church accepted Isaac Simmons, who regularly preaches dressed as a drag queen under the name Ms. Penny Cost, as a candidate for ordination. Since that time, Simmons, who serves as an associate pastor at Hope United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Illinois, has challenged basic theological concepts, projecting a worldview where divinity rests not in God but in queerness. In a church preparing to split over LGBTQ issues, the drag queen pastor, who embraces queer theology while barely attempting to plaster on the basic tenets of Christian theology, has become a lightning rod. Conservatives argue that Simmons’ role as a celebrated figure

Well done Methodists. This goes beyond heresy to an outright mockery of Christian beliefs and standards. Where is the adult leadership?

Apparently, many in the pews do not realize the extent of what is going on. Conferences, as well as individual churches, seem to be keeping people in the dark and sweeping this idiocy and blasphemy under the rug. A former lay leader in the Methodist church told me she was shocked to discover the denomination's embrace of same sex marriage and gay clergy. My mother, grandmother and great-grandfather - lifelong Methodists - are likely weeping as they look down from heaven.

ROMANS 1;
27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

Any so called "church" or denomination that allows its most deviant ordination candidates to dictate correct theology to Jesus is no church.
Not sure what it is, but it is NOT Christian.

Lest we forget, it took less than a generation (Solomon was still alive) for the original Temple to be defiled...male prostitutes "practicing" in the Temple and sacrifices were also being made to the gods of Solomon's concubine. Took the Methodists longer than the Episcopalians, but they got their nonetheless with many others rapidly following suit.

Simmons does seem to be daring God to flush him, which makes it really hard to reject the temptation to judge him. But Jesus didn't tell us not to judge others only if we can't see into their heart, or if the right judgment doesn't seem clear... But not to judge others BECAUSE we can't see into their hearts. God, Himself, is the judge of everybody, period.
But, Dude, knock it off with that nonsense!! Whisky Tango Foxtrot is wrong with you?!?

Drag queens are fun . . . in a drag show . . . at a bar. If a man wants to wear a dress in a public space, I don't care. I really don't. But this pastor insults regular drag queens. Her theology is bad. And it certainly isn't anything remotely resembling the teachings of John and Charles Wesley who founded the Society of Methodists as a movement within the Church of England.
The message of Jesus Christ is this: Repent of your sins -- change direction -- and follow Jesus. Whether you're a drag queen or anything else, that is what we are called to do.
In the words of Susanna Wesley, the mother of John and Charles: “Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, takes off your relish for spiritual things, whatever increases the authority of the body over the mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may seem in itself.” This drag queen pastor would do well to consider the words of the mother of Methodism.

The reason the “United” Methodist Church is breaking apart is the marxist liberal persons do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God who died for our earthly sins. No belief in Jesus, so no sin and a free-for-all! Conservatives also give most of the money to the church, so the marxist liberal persons want to prolong the split! GEEZE! ✝️

They are not Methodist Church. They are the church of LGBTQ. The gay LGBTQ worship of themselves have become like a religion and they worship gayness and being Trans. Their god is sex and the gay/trans lifestyle and they expect everyone else to worship them. This "Methodist Church" has lost focus on God/Jesus and changed the focus to self pleasure, sex, and lifestyle.

I left the Methodist church 44 years ago. I even graduated from a Methodist college.
It was Bible-a-la-carte. Each person believes what he/she wants. There is unison because everybody believes something. The saving grace of Jesus was never mentioned.
Prophecy was watered down to 'let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.'

Oh I cannot wait until the lightning bolt hits this guy. He deserves a bolt and worse for mocking the Almighty God. The Methodists have been lost for a very long time. It is ironic to me that the churches in Africa are sending missionaries to this country to minister to the lost lambs of God.

I am a Methodist and #24 is correct. The split has been coming for some years ever since the bishops got infiltrated with the woke Marxist. We are going to end up with two churches...traditional and the leftists. The fight now is about who gets the properties and at what price. My church is Southern and will vote traditional since most members are conservative but it’s really a shame that those bishops have split this one-time great denomination by ignoring the Word of God and driving us apart. It’s not their belief in same sex marriage or ordination of homosexual pastors. Everyone can have their private opinions but their real sin is driving apart the United Methodist Church.

8,
There is also a special place in Heaven for any of these people who will admit their sin, believe in the Risen Christ and follow Him. Some of the world's greatest saints were once in the gallery of the greatest sinners.
We should always pray for our enemies. We should 100% stand against what they stand for but as they say... hate the sin and love the sinner.

#4~ “The Methodists I know are mortified AND DON’T KNOW WHERE TO TURN NOW.”
Scripture teaches that there are times to test the spirits: 1 John 4:1-11
“4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 AND EVERY SPIRIT THAT DOES NOT CONFESS JESUS IS NOT FROM GOD. THIS IS THE SPIRIT OF THE ANTICHRIST, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. ...”
St. Paul warned: “Ungodly teachers are to be deserted because they no longer act in Christ’s place, but are antichrists.”
Personal decisions must be made whether to stay or to “Come out from among them and contend earnestly for the faith! Resist, rebuke and run from those who distort the faith. ... By proclaiming the truth, we must deny error. To allow or tolerate error is to deny the truth. ... Let us fight against every attack of satan that would try to gain a hold upon the souls of men. LET US STAND FIRMLY UPON THE TRUTH OF SCRIPTURE, NOT THE EMOTIONS OF OUR FEEBLE HEARTS.

What is further galling is the "traditionalist churches" must buy back their own churches if they leave the UMC Conference. I'm all for leaving it, starting a new and starting with a new name with or without a new denomination.
I expect a local vote in my church in the next 12 months. Not sure clergy and lay leadership realize there are many ways to get information besides through them.
