Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi reportedly received communion during a Sunday mass despite her archbishop banning her from the practice, Politico Playbook reported Monday.
Pelosi reportedly took Holy Communion at the 9 a.m. mass at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, according to Politico Playbook. (snip) The church’s pastor, Father Kevin Gillespie, said last year he would hand President Joe Biden Communion at the altar despite his pro-abortion viewpoints.
“Everyone is welcome,” he said.

I never doubted that she'd march up to the communion rail, and dare the priest to deny her communion. I'm sure she knows just which churches will grant her a pass.

FTA: ~~ "The Archdiocese of Washington accidentally notified the Washington Examiner via email that they will ignore any media requests on where Archbishop of Washington Wilton Cardinal Gregory will “bring down the hammer” on the Speaker. Gregory previously said the president is welcome to attend Mass in his archdiocese, the Atlantic reported.
“Just sharing for you to know what comes in,” the email said. “Email since Saturday, when I checked the comms inbox has just been a couple of random people wanting to tell the Cardinal to bring down the hammer on Pelosi. Aside from Jack Jenkins at RNS, this is the only new media inquiry. It will be ignored, too.”~~

#3 - The Catholic Church is not on both sides of this issue. Even Pope Frank speaks adamantly against abortion. Once a public person is barred from Holy Communion by their home bishop, all other bishops are bound to follow that decision and that includes their subordinate priests. This priest broke Canon Law, but unfortunately he's under Bishop Gregory - a political animal. I have no doubt this issue will be pursued through the US Conference of Bishops, where the radicalized bishops number under one third.
RE; Numbers 5-8-9: Please identify for me when Christianity was perfect any time after the Crucifixion/Resurrection/Ascension. Jesus Christ instituted The Church as the vehicle of grace in the Sacraments. Yet, it was flawed from the start with Judas' kiss and Peter's thrice denial. Christ knew He was trusting His Church to fallible men, therefore He promised the gates of Hell would not prevail against it. He didn't guarantee that Satan would not infiltrate, only he would not prevail.
A person with mature faith understands and accepts this reality of a fallen world. Every Catholic that no longer attends Mass as a political statement, or Christians that expects prelates to be perfect in this life or they walk away, are playing right into Satan's plans. Do not let the lack of human perfection keep you away from the Perfection of Christ.

#22, I'm a long-time fan of your posts, and I respect your deep and personal commitment to your faith, but the accelerating rot in the hierarchy of the Catholic Church is impossible to ignore any longer. The left has been infiltrating pretty much every institution, and that now includes the Catholic Church, starting with the pope himself and a growing number of Cardinals and bishops. Very disturbing to see, not just for Catholics but for any person with strong religious convictions and ethical principles. We are losing our cultural core to forces of darkness.
I agree that the teachings of the faith are more important and ultimately more powerful than the teachers of the faith. But the time has come when the faithful are going to have to act to protect those teachings.

Christians are commanded not to take Communion unworthily, in a state of unforgiveness or sin, because the penalty is spiritual (and possibly physical) death, which Pelosi Galore doesn't know about yet first hand. She will soon, though. Playing around with God is bad business. This will not end well for the Speaker. The speaker's already blown anyway. Woofer popped across the room, radial horn tweeter smoking. You would not want to have your soul handcuffed to hers when she, a Catholic in name only, leaves this veil of tears.

(Note that the Council of Bishops does not even have a way for members of the Church to contact them on their website, so they can espouse anything they want no matter what their Flock says.). As I understand it, Cordileone’s denying Pelosi of communion only applies in his diocese. He is required to inform all other dioceses of his decision but cannot force them to do the same. The massive failure here is with the archbishop of DC who, as others have stated, is a political animal.
It’s too bad that all of the other Catholics at that mass didn’t rise up and walk out in protest when Pelosi received communion. But it being DC, they were probably on the same political side and wouldn’t have dared.

If she thinks taking communion will get her into heaven or anyone else for that matter they are in for a rude awakening. Repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is the way we must take. Repentance is taking God's side against ourselves as guilty sinners deserving of hell. The evidence of that is seen in living our lives for Christ not living in wickedness any longer. We have a new Master now, no longer the devil but we serve the Living God.

I read an article in one of the Catholic magazines yesterday that quoted a Canon lawyer regarding the Pelosi problem. The upshot is that Pastor in Georgetown and his Bishop couldn't be in trouble for going against the wishes of a fellow Bishop on such a serious matter. The reasoning is that the Archbishop of San Francisco should be given the benefit of the doubt that he exhausted all avenues and gave Pelosi all opportunities towards repentance. For another diocese to supersede that is according to the Canon lawyer a big No-No.
I also learned that if a pastor or Bishop does not do everything in his power to save a wayward soul - Saint Gregory the Great said that Jesus will hold them to a very rigorous standard.

#46, I suggest letting both your parish priest, diocese bishop, and other Church leaders know how strongly you feel about the failure to follow the prescribed teachings by the leaders in question. These aren't minor infractions. They directly contradict the specific doctrine and moral imperatives of the Church. No individual in its hierarchy should defy and openly contradict that doctrine
Do not remain silent!

There are technically only 3 designations of roles in the Roman Catholic Church: laity, priests and bishops. That's it. The Pope is considered the "bishop of Rome" but is elected by his peer bishops to merely be the "first among equals". The Church is NOT a dictatorship --- despite what many seem to believe --- and each bishop (also called a cardinal, which is an in-house title for glorified bishop) is supposed to lead his own flock.
Pelosi belongs to a diocese and a parish within that diocese. Her spiritual leader --- representing Christ on earth --- has told her in writing that she may NOT receive communion. That holds her fast no matter where she goes or what she does until HE removes it!
Of course she can shop around --- as she has done --- but that knocks out the self-imposed title she has given herself of "devote" Catholic. Clearly she is not and the whole world can see that.
Remember: Jesus said to the 12: "Who's sins you forgive they are forgiven them --- but the sins you have retained --- they are retained!" That power is passed down through the laying-on-of-hands during the final step of ordination.
She can only have the admonishment removed by the one who put it there and her profanation has only made it worse for her!

As someone who believes that communion is symbolic and that, while communion should not be taken if someone is not living a Christian life, I also think that God leaves it up to the individual to decide. Individual choice not the Catholic position, of course, so if Pelosi wants to call herself a Catholic, she should abide by the Church's rules. And if she thinks God is pleased with her, she is wrong.

Beloved posters, remember our enemy is not each other's interpretation of receiving the Lord's communion. It is the Left and what Nancy Pelosi has done to our Country. Let's be kind and gracious to one another. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against powers of darkness and wickedness in high places (demons). 2 Cor. 10
As a protestant, I have changed my belief about taking communion. I now believe it is what Jesus said, This is My Body, This is My Blood, take, eat, drink and remember Me..... My fellowship is with the Catholics in this.
For those who have left the Church because you have been hurt. Remember that's not from Jesus, He loves you. People will betray you, desert you, but the Lord will never leave you or betray you. Don't forget that. He's always there... Jesus is as close as a whispered prayer. He died for you.

Pelosi has no right to take communion because she is still in unrepentant sin, NOT because someone told her she can’t. To be in a state to properly receive communion, one must have searched their soul for sin and confessed their sin before God. 1 Corinthians 11:23-29; “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake (sic) it and said, TAKE,EAT; this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new. Testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death til he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
So rather than Nancy obey a priest (even though as her spiritual authority in the church he does have the right and duty to deny her the Table, even though Whoopi disagrees) she is still in sin by not examining herself and realizing the position she holds is against the scriptures, thus putting her in sin. Paul is clear that one can be unworthy (in sin) .
Now I am quite aware that the ladies of the View will not agree with what I have written, or more importantly what the Apostle Paul has written, but that does not make them correct, which they will find out on Judgement Day.
