A crazed gunman who believed he was Jesus Christ pulled out a revolver and opened fire outside the White House Saturday night, before he was quickly taken down by a barrage of shots from the Secret Service, sources said. Nasire Best, 21, fired at a checkpoint at about 6:10 p.m. after being seen pacing in a strange manner up and down 17th St. Northwest, sources told The Post. He only got off a few shots before he was shot and killed in a hail of bullets from federal officers. At least one bystander was hit and seriously wounded in the fusillade, the sources said.

There is a certain neurosis creeping into some in black America manifesting in violence. Instead of trying to save these people, I guess certain politicians will attempt to blame the Secret Service and move to defund the agency. A memorial plaque to commemorate this individual can't be far behind.

The left thought mental institutions were cruel and unconstitutional. What is really cruel is allowing ill people like this to roam the streets, do drugs and live in filth. Secure facilities would at least provide decent food, shelter and treatment for individuals like this. I certainly don't advocate a return to the artist Hogarth's Bedlam but some way to help the genuinely mentally ill. If we deported the Somali thieves and their like back to the ****h***s they came from, we could afford to decently house the people who really need help. This nutter had probably read the media's constant barrage that Trump is some sort of demon and thought he was casting him out like the Gadarene Swine story.

Chemical tank ‘on the edge’ of exploding

Firefighters on Saturday were trying to cool a chemical tank “literally on the edge” of exploding in Southern California as they worked to avert a disastrous “worst-case” scenario, the incident’s commander said. The 7,000-gallon tank containing methyl methacrylate, a toxic chemical used to manufacture resins and plastics, could also then set off an explosion in a 15,000-gallon tank nearby that holds the same substance, Chief Craig Covey, the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) incident commander, told NBC News on Saturday.
To the Trump Administration: Recognize

While the international community says it champions democracy, stability, and self-determination, Somaliland ticks every box. Yet it stays unrecognized, largely because diplomats cling to the fiction of Somalia's territorial integrity — even though that unity exists only on paper. This is not principle at work. It is bureaucratic inertia. It has become a costly strategic error. Denying recognition sends exactly the wrong signal: that building a functioning democracy in hard conditions earns you nothing.

What are these Wall Street titans afraid of, exactly? Jamie Dimon and David Solomon — maybe the two most powerful bankers in New York — are invariably described as “tough,” “no nonsense” and “hard-charging.” Yet when they each met up last week with the city’s socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, you’d think they had just toured a rose garden with Xi Jinping. Dimon and Mamdani held a “friendly” and “constructive dialogue” on Monday, a JPMorgan source told me. The pair chatted about the need for “public-private partnerships.” A few hours later at Gracie Mansion, an insider told me that Solomon, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, visited the mayor,

President Donald Trump appears well positioned to break the old guard of Senate Republicans in the growing row over legislative priorities – as key allies of Senate Majority Leader John Thune either retire or possibly lose the primaries. For months, the Senate has faced considerable pressure from Trump and his allies to pass the Save America Act, a marquis voter ID bill, a proposition that Thune and the senior conference leadership have rejected. Thune has also kept Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough, whom Trump wants removed because she has not allowed key parts of the president's agenda —

“Strategic autonomy” has been an increasingly frequent buzz phrase among European Union leaders, guiding member states to increase defense spending, double down on support for Ukraine, and stay out of the Israel and U.S.-led conflict with Iran. Now the concept is being put to the test by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s threats against the Baltic States. In recent days, Putin said that membership in NATO “will not protect” Baltic states – Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia – that may be aiding Ukraine by hosting its military drones, something Russia accuses Latvia of doing. All three countries are members of the European Union that border Russian territory.

Federal authorities announced criminal charges Thursday against 15 defendants in Minnesota accused of participating in health care fraud schemes involving more than $90 million in intended losses, including what prosecutors described as the largest Medicaid autism fraud case ever charged by the Justice Department. The cases involve alleged fraud tied to multiple Medicaid-funded programs, including services for children with autism, housing assistance, disability support, and child care subsidies. The Justice Department said the investigation also prompted a nationwide expansion of its Health Care Fraud Section, including funding for 15 new trial attorney positions focused on Medicaid fraud enforcement.

Somewhere in Tallahassee, Ron DeSantis is probably grinning ear to ear as Florida Democrats descend into yet another round of intraparty warfare. The fireworks are happening in the Sunshine State’s 20th Congressional District, and it is all thanks to none other than Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the former Democrat National Committee chair who managed to make nearly everyone angry, including her own party’s activists. Florida Republicans drew a new congressional map earlier this year under DeSantis’s leadership, leaving most Democrats fuming while conservatives celebrated a fairer representation of the state’s red shift. The disposal of the highly enriched uranium, which Trump refers to as “nuclear dust” was a major sticking point in negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic. While Iran fought to address the status of its nuclear stockpile after an agreement to end the war had been reached,

U.S. intelligence shows that Iran's supreme leader is effectively holed up in an undisclosed location with little access to the outside world and is only reached by a labyrinth of couriers, according to U.S. officials with knowledge of the matter. The Iranian officials authorized to work with the Trump administration have been having a difficult time communicating inside of their own government system — and it's a central reason why the details of a potential deal with Iran and past agreements have been slow to emerge. When the U.S. sends proposed details, the difficulty in reaching the supreme leader means there can be a long delay
