Rated W for woke: The FCC should upgrade
the TV ratings system

Thirty years ago, Congress decided that parents deserved a way to monitor what the entertainment industry was beaming into their homes. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 recognized that children are influenced by what they see on television and that the entertainment industry has a role to play in helping parents navigate their children’s media consumption. That law led to the creation of the television content rating system we all know today: TV-G for episodes appropriate for all ages, TV-PG for when parental guidance is suggested, TV-14 for content suitable for teens but not younger children, and TV-MA for episodes inappropriate for minors. The rating system is especially concerned with protecting kids:

FTA: "Fast-forward to 2026, and explicit language and violence are not the only kinds of content that parents might want to filter out of their homes. In recent years, television producers have woven woke gender ideology into episodes aimed at young children. As a result, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has proposed adding a new descriptor to the list that tells parents when an episode involves gender identity themes."

France’s health ministry has banned a number of popular nicotine-based products including Zyn pouches, and violators of the law could face a nearly half-million-dollar fine and years in jail. The prohibition extends to the use, acquisition, possession and sale of oral nicotine products such as pouches and gum lozenges. Those violating the law could be penalized by up to five years in prison and a $436,600 fine. The ban includes products such as Zyn, which originated in Sweden and has surged in popularity throughout Europe and the US in recent years as a tobacco-free alternative to smoking. According to the National Youth Tobacco Survey, nicotine pouches were the second most frequently used

A video began circulating Thursday of a guest speaker at the Islamic Center of Passaic County in Paterson, New Jersey (ICPC-Paterson), Osama Abu Irshaid of American Muslims for Palestine, that every American, including President Donald Trump, should watch, watch again, and study. Its implications for the American political scene are massive, but few, if any, will take heed of them. The video comes from a Jan. 16, 2026 event at ICPC-Paterson, “The Night Journey & Cultivating Hope,” a commemoration of the Islamic legend of Muhammad being carried to Jerusalem on a winged white horse with a human head, which constitutes the entirety of the Islamic claim to Jerusalem

Venezuela still has a long ways to go before fully rejoining the world of fully modern nations. There are still remnants of the Maduro regime hanging on, including the "interim" president Delcy Rodríguez, a Maduro creature herself. One of the key steps to redeeming Venezuela will be new elections, which many in and out of Venezuela are hoping will happen as early as this year. Now, opposition candidate and exile María Corina Machado is now talking about returning to Venezuela and running for president. That might be one of the better things that could happen to the South American nation since Maduro was nabbed.

Somewhere in Tallahassee, Ron DeSantis is probably grinning ear to ear as Florida Democrats descend into yet another round of intraparty warfare. The fireworks are happening in the Sunshine State’s 20th Congressional District, and it is all thanks to none other than Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the former Democrat National Committee chair who managed to make nearly everyone angry, including her own party’s activists. Florida Republicans drew a new congressional map earlier this year under DeSantis’s leadership, leaving most Democrats fuming while conservatives celebrated a fairer representation of the state’s red shift. The GOP already controls twenty of the twenty eight congressional seats, but the updated map could hand them several more.

Hotel maids in NYC already out-earn rookie cops, firefighters and even teachers with master’s degrees — and they just got a raise. The Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, the union representing 22,000 city hotel workers, ratified the new contract Thursday that will bring housekeepers to $77,113 on July 1 with $110,000 in salary alone in the sixth year. The agreement made last weekend with the hotel owners averted a strike that was already throwing a wrench into the city’s America 250 celebrations and the FIFA World Cup as visitors said they were afraid to make reservations if a strike was at hand. Under the new contract, hotel guests will absorb some higher

Opening his remarks on a rainy day at the storied military academy overlooking the Hudson River, the secretary slammed the woke agenda. “We saw woke and weak leaders trying to make West Point look like woke Princeton, which happens to be my long lost and

Some Democrats are concerned that after a decade of fighting President Donald Trump they are now held captive by anti-Trump resentment with little chance of escape. That’s the conclusion of a report published in the Hill Saturday, which pointed out that the long-awaited post-2024 election autopsy of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) reinforced that point. Democrats leaned too heavily on negative partisanship, the nearly 200-page autopsy concluded, and focused too much on attacks on Donald J. Trump in messages to Americans who would ultimately cast the votes. That autopsy was not without its controversy as members of Congress and some pundits are calling for DNC chair Ken Martin, who ordered it, to resign,

Iran has reportedly agreed to give up its stockpile of enriched uranium as part of the deal announced by President Trump Saturday. Tehran has agreed to a statement pledging to relinquish its cache of highly enriched uranium — believed to be enough to build 11 nuclear bombs — the New York Times reported, citing two American officials. The disposal of the highly enriched uranium, which Trump refers to as “nuclear dust” was a major sticking point in negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic. While Iran fought to address the status of its nuclear stockpile after an agreement to end the war had been reached,

Multiple reports have indicated that U.S. negotiators believe that Iran has committed to giving up its nuclear ambitions and its highly enriched uranium as a part of a broader peace deal with President Donald Trump. On Saturday afternoon, President Trump announced that an “agreement has been largely negotiated” between Washington and Tehran. However, Mr Trump said that the final details of the deal were still being discussed and would not be made public at the time. According to a report from the New York Times, citing “two U.S. officials”, the Islamist regime in Iran verbally agreed to U.S. negotiators that it would give up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
