Trump v. Zelensky cage match: Whaaaat?

Original Article

The White House event “Trump and Zelensky Meeting Staged for Media” somehow turned into “Trump v. Zelensky Cage Match.” How did that happen? My theory is that it wasn’t exactly an accident, but it didn’t play out the way either side intended. Bear in mind that both leaders are experienced actors – Trump as a reality TV host and Zelensky as a stand-up comedian. (Yes, Trump really was a reality TV host!) Both saw the meeting as a stage. They intended to communicate not with one another – that could have been done better in private – but with millions of viewers.

Zelensky wasn't prepared for a meeting with an American Administration and foreign policy team that didn't greet him bending over with their pants around their ankles.

I would think that the military industrial complex applauded the shouting match. In their minds, Z's failure to handle the meeting properly was key and that this war will not end any time soon in his mind, he hates Putie with a passion, and there will still be billions of dollars yet to be made by the mic.

Cage match? More like a Ukranian tourist locked himself in a tiger cage. Also Zelinski wasnt invited to haggle. He was supposed to sign on the dotted line period. All the details were finalized by HIS people prior to his flight. This is the second time he does this as we sent someone over there to sign a deal that was all arranged a few week's ago. Only to be rebuffed and bewildered and come home with nothing. I believe Zelinski will never settle bc it will mean he spent those lives for nothing. Plus he will never show his receipts for the US aid.

#2, you are right about the milplex liking endless proxy wars, but where will Ukraine get the money? They have spent or dispersed much of what we gave them. Is Europe ready to ship Billions, they don't even fund their own military. The stupid punk had the only deal he was going to get. More US involvement and money, but ending a war and either giving up territory where they harassed the Russian-speaking population, or seeing that territory turned into a DMZ zone. He thinks he can reject that. We will see how that goes.

Glenn must bre getting his news from CNN. This was not to be a negotiation. Z had already said he would sign the rare earth minerals agreement. He was coming to Oval Office to sign that agreement which he said he was authorized to sign. Trump had specified that Ukraine needed to provide security for the billions of dollars the US had already given Ukraine. That is why the signing was made a public event. Z came in and tried to change the meeting. It is clear that he decided we were the ones whom he expected to pfrovide "security" to Ukraine. Actual on the ground securuty. He also may have foolishly thought that he could "gotcha" the American President into something he wanted if it was being done on live TV. No cage match. Z just tried to move the goalpost. Didn't work. The mention of The Apdprentice and Trump's being an actor is ,ore CNN stuff. He played himself. Always has. Still does.

From the not-so-far-back machine: U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced on Thursday during an interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business that the United States and Ukraine have struck a deal on strategic minerals as well as oil and gas amid peace talks for ending the war with Russia. Bessent not only revealed that the “deal is done” but that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky will be coming to the White House to sign it. “I went to Kiev two weeks ago and met with President Zelensky. Since then, we have struck a deal. Their governing council approved the deal last night, so I have an agreement from their economics minister, so the deal is done,” said Bessent. The treasury secretary added that Zelensky would be coming to sign the deal “tomorrow.” “President Zelensky is coming here to sign the deal tomorrow. There is no more negotiation,” he added https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/02/27/treasury-secretary-scott-bessent-usa-ukraine-minerals-deal-done/

Reality is about to place a far harsher slamdown on Zelensky than Trump/Vance did. Zelensky may not like it but he is OUT OF OPTIONS. He is slowly losing this war and reaching a point where he no longer has enough lives to spend. Putin is losing also, but has more to burn than Zelensky. Further, Trump is NOT going to support this was and Europe cannot. Trump created an exit ramp for Ukraine where they would lose a bit but get peace. Zelensky just jerked on Trump's cape. Per Jim Croce: You don't tug on Superman's cape. Zelensky is now twisting in the wind. If I were Trump, the only deal I would back is one in which Zelensky resigns because he will sabotage any peace efforts. And by ALL MEANS, NO AMERICAN TROOPS IN UKRAINE, EVER!!! In fact, the faster Trump cuts any ties with Ukraine, the better. Ukraine is now a loser's deal for America.

Just wondering. Could the Zelenskyy led Ukrainians in concert with the Obama led communist death democrats who have been stealing vast sums of the hundreds of billions in aid we gave to Ukraine been behind the assassination attempts of President Trump because they knew he would either stop the war or any further aid to Ukraine if elected? Sounds very plausible and I fear they will make more assassination attempts against President Trump. Just wondering.

CNN is nuts. PRESIDENT Trump was not acting. He was sincere and his love for America and his fellow citizens was showing. Zelensky was trying to be tough and trying to take control of the meeting. He failed. He should book a flight for home. Then get on that dang plane. He is- a disgrace to himself and his country. He should just go home. And stay there

Unlike most here I don't despise Zelensky. He is the leader of a corrupt country that was invaded by Russia, run by a truly evil man. Zelensky could have taken his millions and fled the country. Instead he inspired the Ukrainians to fight. I'm surprised, though, that he didn't seem able to "read the room." Maybe he was too used to dealing with the handlers who ran the country for senile Joe Biden. Trump was mostly right when he declared that Zelensky doesn't have the cards to play a winning game with Russia, let alone with the United States. The one card that he does have to play is that President Trump promised to end the war "in 24 hours". If the war continues our president will quickly find that the good will he has enjoyed since the inauguration will be diminished. I hope that Zelensky swallows his pride and realizes that all is lost if he doesn't work with Trump the way Trump wants to be worked with.

It’s amusing to see them pose the question to themselves. It’s not really a question; rather, it’s rhetorical. Posing the question, “Why aren’t we marching in the streets?” is their way of saying that they really should be. But even after considerable angst, self-incrimination, and rhetorical excesses about not marching, they’re still not marching. As for why, there’s a simple answer and a complicated one. The simple answer is, because it’s cold outside. Remember the “protest era” of the 60s and early 70s? College kids would organize protests and sometimes riots with two goals in mind: Ending the Vietnam War (or, really, just ending the draft); and Ending Spring finals.

When fossilized Neanderthals (or “Neandertals” if you prefer) were discovered in caves in Europe back in the mid-1800s, it was assumed that they were stupid, ape-like brutes. Indeed, they did possess compact, muscular bodies with short legs. We’ve learned in the past few decades that our stereotype of Neanderthals was wrong. These were fully human creatures who hunted with spears, created art, made boats, fished, ceremonially buried their dead, and almost certainly spoke to one another. They were as advanced as any other hominid of the time period.

Inside the box, and the Beltway, the thinking all along has been that we must draw a line at Ukraine, else Putin and the barbarians will soon be on the steps of Warsaw and then Berlin and Paris. Besides, Russian aggression and aggressors are morally bad. We owe it to posterity and civilization not to crumble before them. Those are valid points. On the other hand: We are where we are. Wolves roamed Colorado for millions of years. At the end of the last ice age, they managed to survive the mass extinctions of megafauna such as mammoths, mastodons, sabertooth tigers, giant cave bears, and huge sloths, an extinction event that was probably caused in part by the arrival of humans from Asia at about the same time. Until the much later arrival of Europeans, those early Americans were living in the stone age. Their weapons were stone-tipped spears and arrows. They didn’t even have horses. But they hunted in a way that was deadly to large herding animals and the predators of the herds: They used fire.

In determining citizenship, the United States has a very unusual approach. You’re a citizen if you were born here. (You’re also a citizen if you were born abroad under certain circumstances, but that’s a different issue.) That’s a bit crazy, because it means that if a woman (aren’t you glad we don’t have to refer to them as “child-birthing persons” anymore?) makes it into the United States, legally or illegally, in time to give birth – right on the north bank of the Rio Grande, for example – her baby is an American citizen. The mother doesn’t magically become an American citizen by giving birth in America,

The Trump-is-Hitler crowd dismisses the 77 million Americans who elected Donald Trump to the Presidency, for the second time, as a cult. They aren’t suggesting that these 77 million people are a cult because they were opposed to another four years of Joe Biden’s drooling corruption. Rather, they’re suggesting that these people are card-carrying, Kool Aid-drinking Trump worshippers. Let’s put this in context. One of the defining characteristics of cults is that they idolize a charismatic, authoritarian leader. Such leaders get away with a lot.

“Hitler” was their favorite. Trump was “just like Hitler,” they warned us. Forget about the fact that Trump has close relatives who are Jewish and was a staunch supporter of Israel in his first term – and also before and after. And forget the fact that it’s the Democrats who proudly exhibit sympathy for barbarians who mass-murder, mass-behead and mass-rape the Jews. Democrats’ proof that Trump was Hitler despite the facts we are supposed to forget was that Trump wanted to disallow the illegal immigration of Latinos into America, just like Hitler wanted to disallow the illegal immigration of Jews into Germany. Er, no, that’s not it. Anywaaaaay, you get the point.

As her husband said about Hillary Clinton, she’s “likable enough.” OK, I’ll admit that I didn’t particularly like her comment that the first time she was proud of America was the night Barack was elected. Surely there was a time in her first 45 years before then that she felt some pride in America. How about when the 1980 Olympic Hockey Team beat the Russians? How about when we put a man on the Moon? How about when we passed the Civil Rights Acts?

It was predicted that the changing demographics of America – specifically, more racial minorities – would deliver permanent control of the government to the Democrats by now. Instead, over the past few years the Democrats have lost the Presidency, the Senate, the House, a majority of governorships, a majority of state legislatures, and the Supreme Court. This isn’t just about Donald Trump, though his approval ratings are higher than ever while Joe Biden’s (who?) are lower than ever. It’s broader than that. The approval ratings of Democrats are at historic lows in general, while the approval ratings for Republicans are near all-time highs.

For years, the legacy media (hereinafter the “Leg-Meds”) parroted the Democrats’ line that the population of immigrants can be divided into the “documented” ones and the “undocumented” ones. The euphemism “undocumented” finally became a joke, and so the Leg-Meds and the other Democrats eventually surrendered to the word “illegal.” However, within that category of “illegals,” they clung (bitterly) to the notion that about 99.9999999% were “law-abiding” and only the remaining 0.0000001% were criminals. That lie was called out yesterday by President Trump’s new press secretary.
