The world is in flux. Our much-discussed national vibe shift suggests that Americans are beginning to feel the change, but it understates what’s happening by a very large margin. What we’re experiencing is of global significance: the dawn of a new era. Between 1989 and 1991, the Communist bloc collapsed. The United States stood bestride the world, history’s first truly global hegemon. Perhaps unsurprisingly in retrospect, that dominance wreaked havoc on our national psyche. The most popular idea of that moment, summarized in Francis Fukuyama’s provocative title, “The End of History,” shaped

Trump Killing It in New Quantus Insights Poll 2 replies

Well, well, well. The Democrats are trying to sell the narrative that there is a vast number of voters who regret voting for Trump, and indeed there is a poll here or there that supports that Narrative™. Pick your poison. All the way from Trump +9 to Trump -8. (Snip for chart)The problem is that many of these same polls led you to believe that Kamala Harris was going to win. In one of those "now it can be told" revelations after the election, it was even revealed that Kamala Harris' own internal polls never--not once--showed her pulling ahead.

Legendary actor and two-time Oscar winner Gene Hackman and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, were found dead Wednesday afternoon at their home in the Santa Fe Summit community northeast of the city. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed shortly after midnight Thursday that the couple had passed away along with their dog. While Mendoza did not disclose a cause of death or specify when they might have died, he stated in an interview that there were no immediate signs of foul play. Immediate speculation centered around the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning, but a new report indicates that authorities are investigating their deaths as "suspicious."

Apple plans to open a new factory for artificial intelligence servers in Texas as part of a $500 billion investment in the U.S., the company said Monday. The U.S. technology giant said it would work with partners to launch a 250,000-square-foot server manufacturing facility in Houston to produce servers for Apple Intelligence, its AI personal assistant for iPhone, iPad and Mac computers. The new factory, which is slated to begin operations in 2026, will form part of a major investment plan Apple is committing to over the next four years.

It was hardly necessary to consult the Delphic Oracle to learn that the Department of Government Efficiency was destined to be extremely unpopular with federal bureaucrats. Nor was it difficult to predict that their collective response would be clueless and hopelessly inept. Nonetheless, even the most cynical observer of bureaucratic bumbling will be taken aback by an amateurish website called “We the Builders.” It was created to provide a space for anonymous government apparatchiks to whine about the depredations of DOGE, which the main page describes thus: “They are destroyers.”

Last month, Bryan Kohberger's attorneys attempted to have all of the evidence against him in his murder trial thrown out on the grounds that he was identified thanks to genetic genealogy techniques which were used without proper warrants.DNA was found at the scene on the sheath of a knife which was discovered under one of the victim's bodies. The FBI took that DNA and compared it to DNA on some publicly available database and found a familial match which directed them to Kohberger. Subsequently, they tracked his movements as he drove to his families home in Pennsylvania where they took trash

President Donald Trump is well known for his America First agenda. Some have interpreted this as an isolationist stance of retreat from the world stage. If anything, the first few weeks have shown an energetic engagement on foreign policy. America First hasn’t meant disengagement with the world. Rather, it has meant taking seriously American foundational principles and believing those are core values that other nations will look up to when demonstrated proudly. One of those fundamental American principles is free speech, and the Trump administration is making sure that the world sees America vigorously fighting for it.

Imagine working at a large company like Exxon Mobil and being told that an audit was underway. Managers would be busy justifying spending and personnel and how they were enabling the company to prosper. If the auditor found that someone had deliberately hidden or misclassified expenditures for personal gain or ideological reasons, company lawyers would not call it merely “waste” or “mismanagement.” They would call it “theft” or perhaps “embezzlement,” and they would call the authorities.

White House press briefings are often tedious affairs, but sometimes a reporter will ask a question so inane that it provides comic relief. On Jan. 29, for example, the Washington Examiner’s Christian Datoc put this howler to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt: “Egg prices have skyrocketed since President Trump took office. So, what specifically is he doing to lower those costs for Americans?” The average price of a dozen eggs escalated from $1.47 to $4.95 during former President Biden’s term

Would this explain a few things? You bet! As for me, though, I prefer Hanlon's Razor in these moments. James Carville made some news last night on a podcast with Al Hunt, lamenting the inability of Democrats to organize any effective opposition to Donald Trump. Trump's flood-the-zone strategy for the first weeks back in the Oval Office has Democrats floundering, even someone as experienced as Carville. "We're getting overwhelmed," he told Hunt, and "it's all too incomprehensible."

One of the main themes of resistance to the not-yet-1-month-old administration of President Donald Trump is the reliance on lawsuits (often filed with friendly judges) as the president’s adversaries try to kneecap his policy initiatives. So far, the court strategy has had a lot of at least temporary success because we have seen one injunction after another ordering the Trump administration to stop doing this or that. Now Trump is fighting back with some lawsuits of his own on the critical issue of illegal immigration. In the past week, the Justice Department has filed suits against the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois

FT. WAYNE, Ind. — Sitting here at the bar/restaurant at the Ft. Wayne Hilton, a nice Midwest hotel located across the street from the gorgeous Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, I was forced to do something I don’t usually do. Watch CNN. Some rogue from hotel management decided to hold customers hostage to CNN that evening in this deeply Republican state. Not that long ago, I frequently watched CNN. It was a reliable, respectable news outlet. Liberal but serious. But sadly, the unfortunate folks at CNN went full Trump Derangement Syndrome circa 2017.

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg said during a discussion about President Donald Trump‘s gold card immigration proposal that immigrants are necessary because Americans are not helpful in knowing how to “do stuff.” “My point is, we’ve spent over 100 years saying to people, come, you’re welcome. We’ll take you. Now, nobody knows how you get in, what do you do because it’s a mess,” Goldberg said Wednesday on The View in a rant about the immigration system under the Trump administration. “So I want somebody to make up your mind so people know what to do.”

On Sunday night, President Donald Trump announced that Dan Bongino would be filling the role of deputy director at the FBI. This comes after Kash Patel was confirmed a few days before as the bureau's director. Trump's pick of Patel and now Bongino have fired up leftist commentators and Democratic politicians so fiercely, they've taken to forget very key details about what makes Bongino qualified. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) who, along with all of his Democratic colleagues, did not vote to confirm Patel, was particularly incensed about Bongino. So much so, that he left out key details of what makes him qualified, and it's not merely because it's Trump's right

When Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) went to the steakhouse at the Four Seasons in Washington, D.C. Monday night to dine with (alleged) lobbyists he was a little too loose-lipped, and sadly for him conservative journalist Nick Sortor was seated at the table next to him and heard it all. In fact, Sortor says Swalwell "invaded" his table while he was "inebriated at dinner," and promised a video recap. Sortor says he has audio of the conversation, but he hasn't yet released it. (Presumably, he's getting legal advice) He did, however, release a summary of what Swalwell said and a video of him confronting Swalwell as the group exited the restaurant.

One year after California introduced a first-of-its-kind $20 minimum wage for fast-food workers, an increase of up to 70 cents is slated for a vote. California's Fast Food Council, comprised of fast-food workers, restaurant owners and state officials, approved a motion Wednesday to consider a cost-of-living-adjustment at an upcoming meeting. (Snip) Workers and labor advocates said the increase was needed to address rising costs of living in one of the country's most expensive states to live. If you embrace a position—whether it’s religious, political, moral—completely devoid of fact… and reason… and logic… and practicality… and responsibility…and integrity… and objectivity… and empathy… and self-sacrifice… then apparently all you’re left with are debunked lies. Case in point: Yesterday, Ohio congresswoman Joyce Beatty made this claim on X: "Thirteen years ago today, Trayvon Martin, at 17 years old, was wrongfully killed in an act of police brutality that shook the nation and brought vital awareness to the racially motivated violence that plagues our country. Today, and every day, let us continue the fight for racial equity and speak out against the hate that divides us.

Tim Walz is a vile, intemperate person who not only lost his election for vice president, but was publicly humiliated. He fared so badly in his one debate that he resorted to calling himself a knucklehead, and in general performed so bizarrely that by the end of the campaign, 60% of the country thought he was gay. So if you want to be charitable, maybe that embarrassment explains his outburst before a Minnesota nurses’ union group on Tuesday, where he said that the country is being “stolen by fascists and Nazis.” (X) I don’t suppose he means the election was stolen, so he must mean that the actions the Trump administration

Dem Congresswoman: Musk Can't Be Trusted

Democrats have found an immigrant they don't like, and that would be Elon Musk, who dared to support President Donald Trump during the campaign and now works with him to get to the bottom of government waste and fraud. One Democrat, though, Rep. Marcy Katpur of Ohio, had a particularly ugly moment using Musk's immigration status as a means to question his "loyalty." "Mr. Musk has just been here 22 years," Kaptur said, as she complained about how he has citizenship with multiple countries. The congresswoman completely missed the point when it comes to how he is a citizen of the United States, and has been since 2002.
