One year after California introduced a first-of-its-kind $20 minimum wage for fast-food workers, an increase of up to 70 cents is slated for a vote. California's Fast Food Council, comprised of fast-food workers, restaurant owners and state officials, approved a motion Wednesday to consider a cost-of-living-adjustment at an upcoming meeting. (Snip) Workers and labor advocates said the increase was needed to address rising costs of living in one of the country's most expensive states to live. Veronica Gonzales, a fast-food worker, spoke remotely from a room full of workers organized under the California Fast Food Workers Union’s San Jose chapter.

Life is full of choices. If you've chosen fast food as a career accept what you were offered.

A whopper meal in Mississippi is $12.20. It was $5 in 2020. I asked to see their wine list but they didn’t get my point.

Hey, if the DEI supervisor makes $700,000 a year and produces NOTHING, a person who feeds a bunch of people deserves at LEAST as much, right!

Yeah, because the previous meddling in the employer-employee contract has been such a glaring success.

Ever consider that artificially set wages cause inflation, driving the cost of living up,requiring a raise of the wages, causing more inflation, ...
It's a circular firing squad.

Gonzales of the food workers union needs to learn to code.... or something that gets her a higher paying job. Working in the fast-food industry is honorable, but if it doesn't pay, GET OFF YOUR *** and do something to improve yourself! No one owes you a job. No one owes you a living.

I used buy lunch most days. Now I skip lunch.
i used to go to restaurants for dinner about once a week. Now it's five times a year.
It's not just the price, either. The quantity, quality, and service have all gotten worse as the price went up.

Looks like the fast food restaurants will be leaving California right behind the insurance companies. Forcing businesses to lose money is not a viable long term plan for keeping them in your state.

It's almost a law of nature. Every time the minimum wage goes up, unemployment also goes up.
And fast food is not a career. It's a starter job for young people, and income supplement for people who didn't plan their retirement well.
