Nine months after Thomas Matthew Crooks fired eight shots at President Trump during a rally in Butler, Pa., we're still being kept in the dark about what really happened. And if you think we're getting the full story from the FBI, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you because something isn’t adding up.
Crooks is described by those who knew him as a "seemingly mild-mannered" 20-year-old with nearly straight A's throughout school and an impressive 1530 SAT score. Somehow, he transformed into an assassin on July 13, 2024. Yet, unlike most mass shooters, he left no manifesto explaining his actions.
Trump miraculously survived with only an ear wound.

Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago is getting a quick lesson on performance approval polls. It turns out that lousy mayors and governors get bad approval numbers. Here is the story:
In January 2023, shortly before the February Chicago mayoral elections, former Mayor Lori Lightfoot had a dismal 22% approval rating. Current Mayor Brandon Johnson’s approval has now sunk even lower, to only 6.6% in the latest poll, as issues such as rising crime concern residents of the Windy City.
In the latest poll from M3 Strategies, which surveyed 696 likely Chicago voters Feb. 20-21, 67% said that crime was one of the top three issues facing Chicago,

If you embrace a position—whether it’s religious, political, moral—completely devoid of fact… and reason… and logic… and practicality… and responsibility…and integrity… and objectivity… and empathy… and self-sacrifice… then apparently all you’re left with are debunked lies.
Case in point: Yesterday, Ohio congresswoman Joyce Beatty made this claim on X:
"Thirteen years ago today, Trayvon Martin, at 17 years old, was wrongfully killed in an act of police brutality that shook the nation and brought vital awareness to the racially motivated violence that plagues our country. Today, and every day, let us continue the fight for racial equity and speak out against the hate that divides us.

Happy Thursday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. (Snip) There's never a bad time to mock Jake Tapper — aka "White Joy Reid" — for being awful at what he does. I've been doing it for years. In fact, I've probably gone after Tapper more than any other Democratic propagandist in the mainstream media for one big reason. OK, maybe two reasons. Sometimes I get Tapper confused with Rachel Maddow.
I know, I know — Maddow's voice is deeper.
The main reason I've gone after Tapper so much is that he was able to pull the wool over a lot of conservatives' eyes for a long time.

A new book purporting to expose the cover-up of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, co-authored by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson, has conservative critics fuming with exasperation.
While Thompson was one of the few legacy media journalists who questioned Biden’s mental acuity well before his disastrous debate, Tapper ignored the elephant in the room for years, and even insisted in 2020 that Biden’s chronic incoherence was just a “stutter.”
The pair, according to CNN, was inspired to write “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” the day after Donald Trump won the 2024 election.
But even before the 2020 election, it was obvious

Tim Walz is a vile, intemperate person who not only lost his election for vice president, but was publicly humiliated. He fared so badly in his one debate that he resorted to calling himself a knucklehead, and in general performed so bizarrely that by the end of the campaign, 60% of the country thought he was gay.
So if you want to be charitable, maybe that embarrassment explains his outburst before a Minnesota nurses’ union group on Tuesday, where he said that the country is being “stolen by fascists and Nazis.” (X) I don’t suppose he means the election was stolen, so he must mean that the actions the Trump administration

Pain is the most common reason for seeking medical care. Although pain is experienced only by individuals, under federal policy, pain is a public health challenge, even a global health priority. In a way, this isn’t surprising, as modern definitions of health and public health are expansive, even including transitory mental and emotional states.
Public health as a concept arose along with eugenics during the Progressive Era. Although the two concepts weren’t completely congruent, both were compatible with government assuming authority to act on behalf of the health of the population.
Logically, a healthy community isn’t a thing. All populations include

Much has been written about the mid-air collision of an airliner and an Army Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac off Reagan Washington National Airport. This is among the most congested airspaces in America, yet the Army has, for decades, routed helicopter traffic through it.
Because of the subordination of our armed forces and every other organ or government, including the FAA, to DEI priorities questions of training, experience and competence are inevitable. Inevitable too are attempts to blame this crash and others on Donald Trump, a man only in office a few weeks at the time of the DC crash. Now we’ve discovered there is likely another factor involved,

PolitiFact finally found time to fact-check a Democrat on Tuesday. Unfortunately, writer Louis Jacobson refused to give Washington Sen. Patty Murray’s false claim a false rating when she declared that, since 2001, GOP tax cuts have done more than anything else to add to the deficit, instead giving the claim a “half true rating.”
The specific claim from Murray came from a speech she gave on the Senate floor on February 20, claiming the Senate GOP’s budget is “not about balancing the budget. We all know that. Because they don’t plan to reverse one of the biggest drivers of the debt: Republican tax cuts

Within days of Donald Trump’s November landslide, Bishop Mark Seitz, head of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ migration committee, warned that Their Eminences were preparing to “’raise our voice loudly’” if Trump’s immigration policy “’violates basic human rights.’”
This episcopal loudness signals the end of the USCCB’s scrupulously-maintained four-year vow of silence through the entire presidency of the “devoutly” Catholic Joe Biden.
Their silence spoke volumes to Catholics witnessing Biden doing his utmost to wage open war on the most fundamental teachings of the Church. Not only was this “‘good Catholic’” (Biden claimed Pope Francis described him this way during a 2021 audience),

Last week, I received the email below from Gale Primary Sources, acting on behalf of the University of California’s Center for Right-Wing Studies. It sought permission to digitize and disseminate materials created by my organization, Center of the American Experiment. These materials would be part of an archive that Berkeley will “publish and commercially distribute,” for the purposes of academic research and education on the “Right Wing.” I noticed that, while it was sent by email, the Gale communication was mis-addressed to my organization’s former headquarters–the building that was firebombed by left-wing extremists. Curious about the bipartisan nature of Berkeley’s interest in “wing” studies, I responded:

Conservatives have been saying for years that MSNBC platforms some of the most racist people in the Pravda Media--and until recently, the market for racism has been booming. So much so that the demand for racism exceeded the supply.
It was good to be Ta-Nehesi Coates. It was good to be Hannah Nicole-Jones. And it was good to be Joy-Ann Reid and the racists at MSNBC. What made MSNBC unique was that racism was its primary product, and even when it seemed to deviate from that frame, it always attached racism to ancillary topics like Trump is Bad Orange Man. One main reason was, of course, that he was
