Pete Hegseth Confirmed as Secretary of Defense

Original Article

Posted By: Lucky5, 1/24/2025 9:39:28 PM

It was one of Donald Trump’s most controversial nominations. Pete Hegseth being selected to run the Pentagon as our next secretary of defense caused liberal America to melt down, leading to a prolonged media assault on his character based on zero evidence. Even then, the allegations were weak sauce, which was mainly grounded in unfounded rumors that he was wasted on the job and committed a sexual assault in 2017. All of which are inaccurate.

Comments:

Sen. Mitch McConnell did vote against the nomination, joining forces with Murkowski and Collins. What a disgrace.

While I'm happy Hegseth will be confirmed, there is one word in the article that bothers the hell out of me in the quote "Even then, the allegations were weak sauce, which was mainly grounded in unfounded rumors that he was wasted on the job and committed a sexual assault in 2017. All of which are inaccurate." I suggest that when the word "inaccurate" is applied to matters which can be quantified when used in matter of ethics and morality, the word is almost an admission of some degree of culpability. Other than that, nice article, Matt.

Throw this moron vegetable Mitch McConnel finally out of his office. Always sided with the dem side. His wife made disparaging comments after she was no longer on the Trump team. Both are traitors to this country. She used to have her father sit in on cabinet meetings. Nice.

McConnell kept Garland off the Supreme Court. I'm very grateful for that, but he's been a real disappointment since then.

I have a feeling McConnell won't be around much longer anyway. He's not well. The two women, who always vote with the democrats are pathetic. Thank goodness Vance got to vote and show them the don't have much power anymore. Congrats to our new Secretary of Defense.

I think the two female RINOs are going to regret their votes, one way or another. People are tired of their grandstanding. Mitch is on his way out, so just leave him be. It should be clear now how important the AZ senate race was to Trump.

It's no secret that Steve Bannon, once a top aide to Donald Trump, isn't a fan of the president-elect's newest buddy Elon Musk. But Bannon took his criticism even further last week, telling an Italian newspaper that he will take the billionaire down before Trump's Inauguration day this month. The comments were basically a declaration of war against the Tesla, SpaceX and X boss who has strategically placed himself within the innermost circle of the incoming president and the latest in Bannon's attacks on him. 'I will have Elon Musk run out of here by Inauguration Day,'

John Durham has been a special prosecutor for almost a year and a half — not a long time, but plenty of time for a drumbeat to begin that he was showing little progress against his orders to examine the origins of the debunked Trump-Russia collusion narrative that convulsed a presidency. His few indictments so far have been directed against peripheral players, feeding a fear among Donald Trump’s supporters that elites higher up the stack are going to get away with their chicanery.

Mexican authorities blocked a US military plane from deporting illegal migrants on Thursday after President Trump's immigration crackdown began. US officials told NBC News that a jet filled with illegal immigrants bound for Mexico never took off after authorities south of the border rejected the move. The flight was one of three that were set to take off on Thursday, alongside two Guatemala-bound Air Force C-17s carrying over 150 people, as part of what Trump has described as the largest mass deportation effort in US history. Deporting migrants to foreign countries requires permission from the incoming nation's government, which Mexico declined on Thursday.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had good qualities. He pushed through Trump’s judicial nominees during the first presidency, got his tax cuts passed, and is a noted legislative strategist and tactician. It doesn’t mean he always bats a thousand, but McConnell got key portions of the Trump agenda passed after the 2016 election. Now, he’s erased all that goodwill with this dastardly vote against Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense. McConnell’s defection, plus that of Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME), led to Vice President JD Vance performing his constitutional duty to break the tie.

After the 2024 election, the Biden administration knew what was coming in January: a massive crackdown on aid to Ukraine. Since Kamala Harris’ epic defeat last November, the Biden White House wasted little time, if any, sending hordes of cash to the eastern European nation, which became more of an outlet for liberals raging at Russia for supposedly interfering in the 2016 election than a national security priority. Like anything Biden touched, this issue became more unpopular as the months progressed. With Secretary of State Marco Rubio, all aid has been shut down.
