The big story this week is the how X (formerly Twitter) worked to dramatically change the American legislative process. As Chamath Palihapitiya said, "People are underestimating what happened here [The Continuing Resolution]. This was a multi hundred billion dollar grift that was stopped on a dime over 12 hours of tweets. You would have never thought this was possible. To put a dagger in something that big that had so much broad support just a few hours earlier is so consequential in how the United States can run going forward."
But if you grasp the background for this feat -- the story of how Axelrod and Obama,

Defend the police? I think she meant defund. I'll assume that was a typo.

this term permission structure means a kind of velvet rope like the ones Hillary used on press, i think.... i was at a pro-life speech once, outside, and we realized that some group had kind of encircled the whole audience with a velvet rope and was then tigtening it, which made everybody stumble and go where the rope pulled them to, which was a chaotic mob moving somewhere. Just a few people could do that. The NYT used to be a velvet rope. Then Obama worked out (briefly) how to make a velvet rope out of tweets. But we slipped out. Axelrod calls it a permission structure because it is a coercion structure. don't use his words. they are deliberate obfuscation, the opposite of an effort to clarify. they are propaganda before yu begin.

This whole world will be remade. And much better for it.
Even the Chinese and the Middle East will see the value.

I’m more interested in the fact that Grok was able to “read” the bill and summarize what was in it in minimal time. No more hiding bull***t pet projects or graft in the bills anymore. We the people may actually have a chance at stopping Congress from shoving this crap down our throats.

The Samuels essay referenced by Clarice Feldman from yesterday explains the how and why of what happened to us in the Obama Dark Ages.
The term 'Permission Structure' is kind of esoteric but Clarice helps the understanding of this incredible tactic concocted and implemented by Obama and Axelrod. As poster says above, think coercion and the cancel culture. This was our own horrible Cultural Revolution.
Obama will not be viewed favorably, nor will his girl-sniffing crooked acolyte Biden.
Thank God Musk bought Twitter. And thank God Trump turned his head.

Dear Clarice: Live Long and Prosper. Quoting her makes me look smart; giving her credit for the knowledge makes me look even smarter.

But can we abide Mike Johnson? This was an error - or sabotage - of epic proportions. What to do?

Clarice gives a condensed version of an article two stories above this one. Both articles are interesting reads.

Be sure to read the Samuels’ essay. it is lengthy, but one of the most eye-opening articles I have ever read. The fact that Obama developed such a shaky structure for his legacy, makes it easier to understand his crash landing. We may have surmised this happening in real-life situations, but Samuels gives a broad understanding of the pitfalls of Obama’s administration.

A Clarice column is never to me missed.
This observation is true, although depressing: "...Bullying large numbers of people into faddish hyperconformity...".
Look at the swaths lemmings who will march, shave their heads, and peacefully riot, because they see others do it on social media without any critical thinking of their own.

The Samuels essay is well worth the effort, it explains much and addresses a lot of what I remember over the last sixteen years. Seems like every month we were presented with a new narrative as a fait accompli, told not to believe what we could see for ourselves and that any resistance meant you were a racist/homophobe/troglodyte, etc. as these were rolled out I’d tell my wife it looks like The Master Cylinder (ref Felix the Cat) had issued new marching orders. The only thing I wonder about, is 0bama really that smart? Back in 2008 he seemed very much a Manchurian candidate. Is 0bama the Master Cylinder or is someone or something behind the curtain still?

I think #11 raises the key point. And I do NOT think that The Zero is actually that smart. He had a team of leftist destroyers working to get this whole corrupt, anti-American group think and access control mess in place. Evil working with evil, and these totalitarians love the control they get from shutting down all alternative ideas and commentary.
Freedom of speech is the best disinfectant for this evil mess.
And Musk freed up Twitter to let all ideas have equal access.

You know, the exact same thing happened to Hitler.

Well, #7, Doctor and Sen. Ron Paul could not have said it better this morning. The Speaker has no spine. He is not likely to change either, as we have seen so many times. Bannon said it and he KNOWS Trump. The President-elect gave every benefit of the doubt, needed positive PR every minute he has been SOTH. However, Mike flat-out lied to him, Vivek and Elon. Trump now knows the man is a liar and untrustworthy. A goodly number of Republican Congresspeople have made it clear they feel the same. Trump and his strong allies will handle it.
