I have tried to pay some attention and make some sense out of the French parliamentary system, but it seems to be a mess. There is a president...elected nationally, apparently responsible for international relations. But there is also a prime minister, who is responsible for the internal laws and general government. And the prime minister is selected from the party with the majority in the parliament. OK, so far, so good. Except there is no party with a majority, a half dozen or more parties all squabbling and making temporary alliances which seem to break down easily and quickly. Seems like total chaos. Apparently the prime minister is toast, vote of no confidence, but somehow they can't or won't have elections until June? And in the mean time....no government? Maybe that's a good thing to have 'no government' for six months. Except Macron is still President. But there is "no government"??? HUH? Screwball system, even worse than ours. Never understood this president AND prime minister sort of stuff. Seems like all the other countries that use this system are third world stinkholes....and Russia. Who is really in charge? And when "the government collapses".....what does that mean and how do they 'undo' it? I thought with parliamentary systems when they had a vote of no confidence, they had a new election very quickly. It's France. Expecting it to make sense seems a vain hope.

Their "Revolution" took place about the same time as Ours...we have had ONE constitution, and a stable govt. They have had several more revolutions of various kinds, multiple constitutions, and "stability" in NOT considered a French Trait. That said....Trump is on his way there soon...sure hope the SS is up to the task, Paris may well be "dangerous", particularly now..and Trump having given advance warning to those that hate him world wide that he is going there. "Enemies Foreign and Domestic".

The sound of a gameshow-like spinning wheel was almost as constant as the smell of fried foods on a stick along a stretch of Underwood Street on a mostly sunny Wednesday afternoon. A line of about five dozen people snaked its way down the boulevard stretching southward to Ye Old Mill at Carnes Avenue. “You landed on Covid snitch line!” a volunteer from behind the “NEVER WALZ” booth shouted to a throng of onlookers who either cheered, jeered or were indifferent. “You just missed ‘Stolen valor!'” someone yelled from a crowd that had gathered

Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday heralded Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as the running mate who will “unify this country.” But Walz’s history of turning a blind eye to the plunder of politically favored racketeers suggests he’ll instead bow to Democrats’ special interests. Last week, Walz sneered that Republicans “don’t know anything about family values. Family values means . . . feeding children.” But do politicians deserve applause for government food programs that feed no one? That would be the nation’s largest single piece of COVID fraud, Minnesota’s $250 million “Feeding the Future” scandal.

It was the music that changed first. Or maybe that’s just when many people at the pale brick Catholic church in the quiet Wisconsin neighborhood finally began to realize what was happening. The choir director, a fixture at St. Maria Goretti for nearly 40 years, was suddenly gone. Contemporary hymns were replaced by music rooted in medieval Europe. (SNIP) The shift, molded by plummeting church attendance, increasingly traditional priests and growing numbers of young Catholics searching for more orthodoxy, has reshaped parishes across the country, leaving them sometimes at odds with Pope Francis and much of the Catholic world.

Aides of President Joe Biden are debating whether the outgoing Democratic president should issue preemptive pardons for figures President-elect Donald Trump has named as his political enemies. Politico reported Wednesday that among those being discussed for blanket pardons are former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, Sen.-elect Adam Schiff and Dr. Anthony Fauci. Biden - who has been busy dealing with the fallout from his decision to pardon his son Hunter over gun and tax crimes - hasn't been brought into the discussions yet, the outlet said. White House officials fear that doling out pardons to people who haven't been charged with a crime could suggest impropriety.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard arguments in U.S. v. Skrmetti, a pivotal case addressing state restrictions on controversial medical interventions, including puberty blockers and hormone treatments for minors with gender confusion. At the heart of the case is a Tennessee law banning these procedures for children, with the court’s decision likely to have far-reaching consequences. Will our country protect children from these barbaric and irreversible procedures or not? As I previously reported, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson humiliated herself when she bizarrely tried to equate banning transgender procedures for minors with prohibiting interracial marriage. She began with a convoluted statement:

“I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision,” President Biden wrote in the last line of his statement explaining his unconditional pardon of his son, Hunter Biden. In doing so, he actually went full circle: The very first line of his statement emphasized their father-son relationship as well: “Today I signed a pardon for my son Hunter.” So it was Biden’s open and close. His PR team deliberately positioned it this way, of course. They had to: Hunter Biden isn’t a sympathetic character.

Mitt Romney, who will also be remembered by his weird Twitter pseudonym, Pierre Delecto, gave a farewell address on the Senate Floor Wednesday before leaving Washington and the government, hopefully for good. As The Gateway Pundit reported, Romney announced last year that he wouldn’t seek reelection following two failed Presidential campaigns and one term in the Senate. This is the best thing Romney, 77, has done in his 30-year political career since his first failed run for Senate in 1994. In his address, the career politician trashed those “who would tear at our unity” and “replace love with hate,” likely aimed at President Trump.
