During a Monday CNBC interview, Trump transition chairman Howard Lutnick expertly explained how President Trump plans to use tariffs to protect American industries, attract investment to the United States, and secure more favorable trade deals from other countries. CNBC host Becky Quick described Lutnick's explanation as one of the "best explanations" she's heard on the topic. "When you talk to the former president about tariffs, do you see it as a bargaining chip, or do you think you're going to see tariffs across the board at 20 percent?" Joe Kernan asked the billionaire businessman.

Three point Maganomics formula: 1. Expand energy supply to lower prices throughout the supply chain. 2. Use tariffs to further growth. 3. Eliminate unnecessary regulations. Stand back out of the way!

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) argued Monday the fact that “no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris” is “pretty strong evidence” that Democrats “need to tone down the rhetoric” — then promised to do his part to help ease political division. “I’m not going to say we’re always perfect. I’m not going to say that conservatives always get things exactly right, but you know, the big difference between conservatives and liberals is that we no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months, and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump,” Vance said to a large crowd at a Faith and Freedom Coalition event.

A campaign speech by Minnesota first lady Gwen Walz, in which she used a sweeping hand gesture to say "bye bye" and "turn the page" on former President Trump energized a Wisconsin audience, but induced cringes elsewhere. Gwen Walz was slammed as the "living embodiment of Trump Derangement Syndrome" for a stump speech for her husband, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and Vice President Kamala Harris in Wisconsin on Saturday.

In the wake of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Florida would conduct its own investigation. For a second time in two months, a would-be assassin was able to get within shooting range of Trump. The first time, Trump sustained a wound to his ear in Butler, Pa., after Thomas Michael Crooks climbed atop a building in the firing line of the former president and managed to get off several shots before he was shot and killed by Secret Service. One rallygoer was killed, and another was severely wounded in the attack.

"In its boldest move, Hezbollah sent four drones toward the Karish platform several weeks ago, all of which were intercepted by the Israel Defense Forces," reported The Times of Israel on July 31, 2022. This was exactly what surrendering part of the gas field to Hezbollah was supposed to prevent. "The proposal for this point involves recognizing it as part of Lebanon, with UN forces deployed there as a neutral party for both sides." — The Jerusalem Post, September 8, 2024. United Nations forces are absolutely useless and pull back whenever there's any conflict. (Nor is the UN remotely neutral.)

The alleged gunman who authorities said targeted former President Trump while he golfed in Florida Sunday afternoon previously declared on social media that “Democracy is on the ballot” this year, and “we cannot lose” — echoing the anti-Trump rhetoric used by Vice President Kamala Harris and President Biden. Law enforcement sources identified the suspect as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58. Routh, who has a lengthy criminal record from North Carolina, frequently posted about politics and exclusively donated to Democratic candidates and causes dating back to 2019.

President Trump and his opponent Kamala Harris were both asked the exact same question about what they could immediately do with policy to improve the economic status of Americans. This provides a very specific compare and contrast opportunity. Kamala Harris delivers a strange, disconnected and unintelligible word salad in her response, never answering the question. President Trump gives three specific and immediate tax policy changes to benefit three specific groups of working Americans.

New York City Hall’s chief counsel is leaving her post in Eric Adams’ administration — just days after NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban resigned in the aftermath of federal raids targeting a spate of cops and close aides of the mayor, she announced late Saturday. Former senior Manhattan federal prosecutor Lisa Zornberg had served as the lead attorney for the mayor and City Hall since July 2023. Her sudden departure comes as federal investigators have zeroed in on members of Adams’ inner circle and other allies. NYC City Hall chief counsel Lisa Zornberg is leaving Mayor Eric Adam's office.

Kamala Harris had the help of the moderators during the debate, and people have raised questions about whether there was any other assistance there. But otherwise, she's largely tried to avoid questions because when she does answer questions, things don't go well. Her first solo television interview was such a train wreck, that the Trump campaign posted the whole thing, calling it their "newest ad." It was that bad. She couldn't even keep it together for such a short period of time:

What do the climate activists really want? Do they have nothing more in mind than a noble crusade to prevent the burning sky from falling on us? Or is the global warming scare just another piece of the revolution? It’s of course the latter. We know this because they’re constantly telling us it is. The most recent admission comes from Los Angeles Times environmental reporter Rosanna Xia, whose exhausting essay under the headline “To fix climate anxiety (and also climate change), we first have to fix individualism” was posted on Wednesday – yes, Sept. 11.

I walked away from the Democratic Party and joined the Republicans. I will vote for Donald Trump for president. I’ve been a true-blue Democrat, a former California state senator who chaired its Senate Democratic Caucus and served as Senate Majority Leader. I was a Democratic National Convention delegate for Jesse Jackson and Barack Obama, and state co-chair for President Obama’s re-election. But I’ve said goodbye, adios, I’ve had enough. This is not the Democratic Party I once championed. I don’t recognize it anymore. The so-called “party of democracy” eradicated 14 million votes, including mine, to install Vice President Kamala Harris as its nominee.

It might not be such a “Love Story” after all. Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, may turn more voters away than it attracts. A new post-debate poll from YouGov released Saturday found that 8% of voters said the pop superstar’s nod is either “somewhat” or “much more likely” to convince them to cast their ballot for the Democrat. But a whopping 20% said they are “somewhat” or “much less likely” to vote for former President Donald Trump’s opponent now that Swift has spoken.

California lawmakers passed a bill at the end of August that would make it illegal to sell a gas stove that is manufactured or sold online on or after Jan. 1, 2025, or sold in a store, "unless the gas stove bears an adhesive label attached in a conspicuous location," according to the text of the bill. Much of the noise coming from the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris last week had to do with a media-driven narrative that Harris “won.” Maybe so. In initial polls after the debate, Harris padded her lead. But will the debate win be enough for the Democrats’ own rank-and-file voters, who believe the party used an undemocratic method to select its nominee? September’s I&I/TIPP Poll suggests the answer is yes. Start with the fact that the Real Clear Politics polling average puts Harris up just 1.7 percentage points nationally, and a sliver-thin 0.2 percentage points in key battleground states.

BEIRUT - Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated on Wednesday across Lebanon's south and in Beirut's southern suburbs, a security source and a witness said, further stoking tensions with Israel a day after similar explosions launched via the group's pagers. Three people were killed in Lebanon's Bekaa region, the state news agency reported, and dozens of people were wounded in the latest device blast. At least one of the blasts took place near a funeral organized by Iran-backed Hezbollah for those killed the previous day when thousands of pagers used by the group exploded across the country and wounded many of the group's fighters.
