About a quarter of British households are so worried about their electricity bills they are considering spending next heating season without heat or hot water, a survey by Citizens Advice has suggested.
The concern follows plans by the national electricity market regulator to raise the cap on bills by another 9.2%, equal to 150 pounds or $195. The Citizens Advice report said the percentage of those worried about the affordability of their electricity was substantially higher among households with children, where the percentage was 31%, and low-income households, where 39% were worried about the coming heating season.

All in the name of saving the planet. Englands absurd 'green' energy cow droppings has now lead a quarter of its people to decided between freezing to death or food. Freeze or starve in the name of saving the earth from what? I bet the British goobernment subsides its preferred visitors, Muzzies so they don't freeze to death.

"Considedering" self-rationing because their bills are too high.
That is definitely not a sign of rah rah support for green. That's a sign of desperation.

Limeys love socialism. They keep voting for it so they keep getting what socialism produces: misery, equally shared.
They deserve to freeze to death in the dark.

They should consider turning off their government. The parliament should live like their average citizens.

My electric rate is higher than the number quoted in the article…my heat will remain on as the monthly is just a nuisance. But the rate at which my electric rates have been rising, due to government intrusions…is scary

Many older homes in Britain still have a coal furnace. I will be ironic if they have to go back to burning black coal due to 'green' laws.

And yet, people the world over refuse to see the connection between who they vote for and the reality of their lives.

No energy GB and the EU have among the lowest GDP growth rates in the world. This, coincidentally, happened when they adopted green new deal policy---but the electorate is ignorant, and sees no connection.

After a winter of not bathing, London population will emit a bouquet similar to most Middle East countries. They might as well learn to wipe with their left hands, while they're at it!

I'm old enough to remember when folks (Here and in the UK) had Fireplaces (or wood burning Stoves) in their Home that kept he House toasty warm. Thanks to the "Greenies" for taking that ability away in many Areas of their Cities and States by making it illegal to Burn. I'm thinking The Greenies should be the Ones who should be without Heat all winter. Maybe then they would figure out the stupidity to take away Other people's rights!

Oh for pity's sake. The average low temp in winter in the UK is 46f. (Manchester, mid country) As I happened to catch on a 'short' video, the UK doesn't know what cold OR hot weather is. Get over yourselves!

Interesting that the London Mayor fears for his life if Trump wins but the people of London fear they will freeze if Trump doesn't win.

We don't turn our heat off but it's turned way down to the point that we must wear a few layers of clothing around the house. It feels healthier and it saves at least $100 a month.

Around here in the winter, it's not unusual for me to allow the inside temperature to fall as low as 60 F (I tolerated 54 F once). Heat (with the heat strip instead of heat pump) is more expensive than air conditioning. Sometimes in January or February I don't mind wearing sweat pants and a sweater inside. A cool interior doesn't bother the cat, either. Winters in Florida are quite tolerable. During summers, life would be miserable without the indispensable invention of Mr. Willis Carrier, one of the greatest people of all time, right up there with Edison

I put a space heater in my bedroom during the winter. Bought it used for $40 and it is as quiet as a mouse.
Saves me at least $400 every winter.
