Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas announced Sunday that she’s been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and warned her constituents that she’ll likely be “occasionally absent” from Congress while undergoing treatment. “My doctors have confirmed my diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I am currently undergoing treatment to battle this disease that impacts tens of thousands of Americans every year,” she said in a statement. “I am confident that my doctors have developed the best possible plan to target my specific disease. The road ahead will not be easy, but I stand in faith that God will strengthen me.”

It's the only thing she has in common with Steve Jobs. It's pretty much a death sentence... but so was being born. If anyone can get Platinum plated healthcare options, it will be retired Congresspukes. Fortunately for her, the best Cancer Hospital in the world is MD Anderson Cancer Center, right where she resides in Houston, TX.

The usual course for pancreatic cancer is a few months ... as a doctor once told me, it's a go to a tropical island and don't worry about the Visa bill. I do know one guy who lived 11 or 12 years after diagnosis. He was fortunate to catch it before symptoms exhibited, but the treatment nearly killed him.

I heard a commentary on taking God's name in vain. When declaring to be a believer in God and one's actions doing reflects God's character, love and mercy, then you have taken His name in vain. That is sobering for us to consider. At the Judgment we must hope Jesus does not say, "I do not know you." If I see her in Heaven, it will be by our Redemption by Jesus' Crucifixion.

It's been a rough go lately for Caitlin Clark, but perhaps Friday night is exactly what she needed. The rookie phenom tied her career-high of 30 points on Friday night and helped her Indiana Fever get an 85-83 win over the Washington Mystics. Clark tied a WNBA rookie record with seven three-pointers, joining Crystal Robinson as the only players to make that many shots from behind the arc in their first year in the league. Her seven 3s were also the most in a game in Fever history, breaking Tamika Catchings' record of six in 2002.

Washington — The U.S. economy grew at a sluggish 1.3% annual pace from January through March, the weakest quarterly rate since the spring of 2022, the government said Thursday in a downgrade from its previous estimate. Consumer spending rose but at a slower pace than previously thought. The Commerce Department had previously estimated that the nation’s gross domestic product — the total output of goods and services — expanded at a 1.6% rate last quarter. The first quarter’s GDP growth marked a sharp slowdown from the vigorous 3.4% rate in the final three months of 2023.

The president recounted that before his interview, "I found out two days earlier they had a quarterback named Roger Staubach, and a halfback named Joe Bellino. And I said, I'm not going there. Democratic Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has spent over $30,000 worth of campaign funds on grooming over the past year, the Chicago Sun-Times first reported. (snip) Lori Lightfoot, Chicago’s former mayor, spent $2,000 on makeup, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle paid $217 for similar services and Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, a billionaire, made 11 payments totaling $6,000 to a Chicago beauty salon to pay for hair styling and makeup, according to the Sun-Times. Paul Vallas, who ran against Johnson during last year’s mayoral election, says he doesn’t recall spending campaign funds on grooming but notes that his being bald contributed to the lack of expenditures, the Sun-Times reported.
