U.S. Department of Labor: Oopsie, We Overcounted
New Jobs Created by 818,000!

Original Article

For the past few days, rumors and reports have indicated that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics was going to downwardly revise their assessment of the number of jobs created from April 2023 to March 2024 “by up to 1 million. This means that all ‘beats’ recorded in the past year will have been misses and the US job market is in far worse shape than the admin[istration] would admit.” The revision is out, and while it’s not quite a million, it’s still really darn high — 818,000 fewer jobs created in that yearlong period than were initially reported. In a normal presidential campaign, where the nominee and her running mate

Wouldn't it be more truthful to just say that once again, the Biden Administration has lied to the American public about the number of jobs created by almost one million. Joe and Kamala's rosy jobs reports were just fabrications and fantasy, just like Kamala Harris' record of achievements and qualifications. I understand some kind of small adjustments, but 1,000,000?

The article misses the real impact of what the jobs report reveals. The BLS discovered these non-existing jobs in their revision by comparing the company numbers to the number of employees paying state unemployment insurance fees. This insurance pool is used to pay laid-off workers. Unauthorized immigrant workers paid in cash don't pay into the unemployment insurance pool. This means the insurance will run out of money sooner for legal workers and immediately force unauthorized workers onto general welfare funds when the economy goes into a recession in the future. Thanks Joe and Kamala.

Par for the course when a Democrat administration controls the data. I can recall when Clinton was in the WH, they regularly just added hundreds of thousands of jobs each month under the pretense of not capturing all of them. Wall Street ate them up and never questioned them. Not sure how their revisions went.

Thursday night, Kamala Harris took the stage in a blue pantsuit to accept her party's nomination for President of the United States. The excited audience kept chanting "Kamala" and "USA"; she thanked them and said, "We got to get to some business! Thank you all." According to Politico, Vice President Kamala Harris planned to lean into her personal biography, and that is what she did. While mention was made of her father Donald Harris, it was her mother Shyamala Gopalan's "values" that Harris constantly referred to as her guiding principles throughout her speech. Since the vote and deadly anti-government protests which followed, Maduro's administration has conducted what the opposition, human rights groups and unions have characterized as a crackdown on dissent. The actions have included arrests of opposition figures and protesters, an investigation into opposition leaders for allegedly inciting the military to commit crimes, the passage of a law tightening rules on NGOs, and forced resignations of state employees allegedly espousing pro-opposition views.

The third evening of festivities at the Democratic National Convention culminated in the acceptance speech of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Oprah Winfrey made a “surprise appearance.” Her star turn was not listed on the hourly schedule released by the DNC. It must have contributed to the lateness of the hour at which Walz appeared.
