Bangladesh soldiers patrolled the deserted streets of the capital, Dhaka, on Saturday during a curfew meant to quell deadly student-led protests against government job quotas that have killed at least 105 people this week. A suspension on internet and text message services has remained in place since Thursday, cutting off Bangladesh from the world as police cracked down on protests that have continued despite a ban on public gatherings. Overseas telephone calls mostly failed to connect, while the websites of Bangladesh-based media organizations did not update, and their social media handles remained inactive.

Comments:

Don't be fooled by the photos. This is Bangladesh - - not our southern border.

Bangladesh is the former East Pakistan, when it became impossible for the mostly Hindu majority part of India to survive with extremely violent Islamic factions inside the country. After a long period of violence, West Pakistan and East Pakistan, primarily Muslim areas were split off from India. Inside modern India, Hindus and many other religions manage to get along reasonably well, after essentially isolating the Muslims. Eventually Bangladesh was the new name for East Pakistan, and West Pakistan just became Pakistan. So.....this is Muslim violence. Reportedly over "government job quota systems" based on the war of independence from West Pakistan....which happened well over half a century ago. Violent Muslim culture. You can see why the Indians were happy to cut these two portions of the country free and rid themselves of a lot of grief.

On the flip side, they aren't getting hit by CrowdStrike. India was listed. Wonder what is really going on here. Bet it's more than a student protest. First I have heard of this. Sounds pro Muslim.

There will be one key question lawmakers will seek to answer next week as they probe the near-assassination of former President Trump, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told The Post. “The fundamental question is, why wasn’t that rooftop secure,” Jordan said. “That’s a fundamental question that needs to be answered.” Jordan who heads the House Judiciary Committee, said FBI Director Christopher Wray will be called on the carpet to testify before Congress next week about the attempted assassination on July 13 at a Trump rally in Butler, Pa.

Even President Biden’s late night firewall could be breaking. “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon, a normally pro-Biden comedian, came out swinging in a monologue earlier this week to jeer at the Commander in Chief’s coronavirus diagnosis; visibly diminished mental state and sagging support from fellow Democrats. “On the bright side… it’s the first positive news he’s had in months,” Fallon quipped of the medical developments. “Biden has COVID. Luckily he can’t spread it because Democrats have been distancing themselves from him since the debate.”

Monday’s Lester Holt interview with President Biden shows that Joe’s damage-control press tour just keeps on doing more damage — it went far worse than his heart-to-heart with George Stephanopoulos. For starters, Biden couldn’t even bring himself to fully apologize for saying Dems should put Donald Trump in a “bull’s-eye,” instead lamely insisting, “I didn’t say crosshairs.” Cold comfort (and bad taste) indeed, after Trump was nearly felled by an assassin’s bullet.

Embattled Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle says she has no plans to resign, even after the stunning revelation that the agency decided not to guard the roof from which Thomas Crooks opened fire on former President Donald Trump because it was too slanted. “That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” she told ABC News in a startling admission.“And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside,” she told the outlet.

This Grand Slam champ slammed her royal friends — but it was all in jest. Serena Williams poked fun at pals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the 2024 ESPY Awards on Thursday night, accusing them of overshadowing her appearance at the event. The tennis legend hosted the awards show at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, where Harry was being honored with the Pat Tillman Award for Service. Taking to the stage, Williams told the crowd that the Sussexes were in the audience, before stating: “Please, Harry and Meghan, try not to breathe too much tonight.”

But as the whispers fly, remember that the people behind any such putsch would be the same as those who’ve been lying to everyone by insisting that Joe’s just fine the whole time. Incredibly, after Thursday night, they’re still lying.

Surrounded by dozens of teachers-union officials on the steps of the Pennsylvania state Capitol this month, Democratic state Sen. Lindsey Williams excoriated a proposed K-12 education-voucher program. She called it a conspiracy by racist, religious fundamentalists bent on destroying public education by driving “straight, white, able-bodied kids into private religious schools.” The next day, a group of black religious leaders gathered in the state Capitol to tell Gov. Josh Shapiro to support the voucher program, called the Pennsylvania Award for Student Success. President Biden and former President Trump faced off on the CNN presidential debate stage Thursday night, but suggested another showdown--this time, in an unlikely setting. The golf course. During the CNN Presidential Debate, CNN moderator Dana Bash presented the age Biden and Trump would be at the end of a potential second term. Biden would be 86. Trump would be 82. Biden defended his age, saying he "spent half my career being criticized about being the youngest person in politics. I was the second youngest person ever elected to the United States Senate, and now I’m the oldest. This guy is three years younger and a lot less competent."

HWASEONG, South Korea — A lithium battery factory in South Korea was set on fire after multiple batteries exploded on Monday, killing 22 workers, most of them Chinese nationals, fire officials said. The fire and a series of explosions ripped through the factory run by primary battery manufacturer Aricell in Hwaseong, an industrial cluster southwest of the capital Seoul. The victims likely succumbed to extremely toxic gas within seconds of the blaze getting out of control, the officials said. It was unclear what caused the explosions and the fire was largely extinguished in about six hours.

President Biden made the historically rare decision Sunday to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, less than four months after being declared the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee and days after a dismal debate showing. The 81-year-old president’s exit from the race – months before Election Day – comes after a debate performance against former President Donald Trump in which the incumbent appeared infirm and was at times incoherent – alarming Democratic donors and strategists. Biden’s withdrawal is expected to set off a free-for-all for the Democratic nomination for president.

Former President Barack Obama didn’t endorse Kamala Harris — saying Democrats would pick an unnamed “outstanding nominee” in his first statement on President Biden stepping aside from the party’s ticket. “We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead,” said Obama, 62. “But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges.” Some Democrats fear that Harris, the 59-year-old vice president, could further diminish the party’s chances against former President Donald Trump, 78, in the Nov. 5 election.

The Hill opinion contributor Pablo O’Hana thinks Rodham Clinton is just the woman who can save the president’s chances: “But who?” "The strongest argument against replacing President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic nominee is the notion that no suitable successor exists. But there is, and not just a good one but one of the most qualified people ever to run for the office: Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The Treasury Department is warning that state laws that restrict banks from considering environmental, social and governance factors could harm efforts to address money laundering and terrorism financing. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the letter sent Thursday to lawmakers. The letter singled out a law signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in May that says it would be an “unsafe and unsound practice” for banks to consider non-financial factors when doing business. The letter concludes that “such laws create uncertainty and may inhibit” national security efforts. Conservative Republicans such as DeSantis have sought to block environmental and socially conscious standards for investing,

In her 15-page ruling, Du said there was no evidence that the plaintiffs “have suffered, or will likely suffer, an injury” from the rules, which allow Democrats and corrupt election officials to “find” the required number of votes to steal elections in which

For now, I’m taking at face value that Biden has withdrawn from the presidential campaign via a tweeted-out letter, with the promise of a live statement to follow. However, a surprising number of people believe that, considering how consequential Biden’s statement is, a tweeted-out letter suggests a coup rather than a voluntary resignation. More than anything, this reveals how the Biden administration has destroyed all trust in the government. To catch you up on things, Biden put out two separate tweets. The first, at 1:46 p.m. Eastern Time, announced his resignation:
