I hope the wounded people will recover 100%. Rifle wounds can be very, very serious, but much depends on exactly where a person is hit, and with what kind of bullet. Best wishes to all.

I think that the Pennsylvania State Police are already being scapegoated to cover the gross and absolute failures of the Secret Service. For example, every state or local police officer working in support of the Secret Service, at least prior to the Biden Administration, would be briefed by the SS as to the exact whereabouts of their counter sniper teams and the operational protocol to counter any number of emerging threats. As an example, a SS protection team covering GHW Bush (41) at an event, brought a two man team armed with Stinger missiles to counter a possible threat from small aircraft. Coordination included the FAA, which issued NOTAMS, officially warning pilots to avoid the air space. If such thorough briefings are not held - or if conducted in a shoddy or less-than-thorough manner, then supporting police officers won't know who should or should not be on a building, with a rifle adjacent to, and with a clear line-of-sight to the main event, at a range within iron sight distance - no scope required. What's worse, the building from where the shots were fired at Trump should have been secured early on and kept under watch by either the SS, or lacking federal manpower - by design from senior SS leadership - the Penn State Police. Local and state police agencies during these type of events are largely used beyond the arbitrary outer perimeter lines, set by the SS for just such a task. But that requires coordination and professionalism on the part of the SS agent in charge. Without common communications gear between the agencies, police officers in the field will have to have their observations relayed to the SS team, time consuming and inefficient. That may have been why the SS on the stage weren't compelled to cover Trump and rush him off of the stage and into an armored vehicle before the shots were fired, and preventing the innocent Trump supporters from being either wounded or killed. The locations where counter sniper teams deploy are known as "sniper hides," but the only counter sniper team identified engaging the shooter was starkly and prominently visible, as if they were supposed to be a deterrent to hopefully cover for the criminally low staffing of SS protection agents - very curious indeed. Based on 40 years of law enforcement within multiple levels of government entities, I believe that SS leadership was not only complicit in the Trump team's gross departures from the norm, they intentionally deployed a gaggle of poorly trained SS agents. They looked to me like B-movie actors, playing a part about which they had little to no knowledge.

The DEI head of the Secret Service has a lot to answer for. The so-called protection at the rally was a joke. The shooter had a clear line of sight from the building roof to the podium at a distance of approximately 130 yards. That is a colossal blunder.

Re #2, several reports are that the SS is responsible for security "on the venue" and local cops for the area around "the venue". So, this seems to indicate that perhaps the SOP in these large venue, outdoor events may require a lot more outside police than a small city of 13,000 and a county of 190K can put up. I want to know of SS puts a team out to teach the local cops what to do and what to look for in this "security job" that they have almost certainly never been trained for priviously. This isn't like "working security" at a fire, or car wreck or a HS graduation or football game....the kinds of 'security' jobs that they have done many times. Those entail looking for people trying to get in and cause problems, or drunks or such things....ground level and close in. I doubt that they think in terms of snipers and roof security unless it is pointed out to them in a SS briefing well in advance.

A recent study published in the International Journal of Risk & Safety in Medicine in May this year found that pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. was involved in scientific fraud when it misled participants in its HPV vaccine trial. I’m glad I waited before sharing the following analysis because I’m not as concerned today as I was when I originally read the Guardian article. Yesterday, The Guardian reported that Donald Trump Jr would be introducing the VP nominee at the RNC convention. According to them, that could indicate a strong likelihood of JD Vance as the nominee. That would be horrible. [Snip] ...what’s really happening is that Don Jr’s speech and intro is really just talking before the VP nominee makes his/her remarks. The VP will be announced days before the convention itself; [Snip] Maybe not JD Vance, and that’s a good thing.

The proposal includes eliminating a tax benefit for landlords raising rents by over 5% annually, affecting those owning more than 50 units. This move seeks to protect tenants without discouraging new construction.

BUTLER, Pa. — The Secret Service blamed local police for failing to secure the rooftop from which gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, insisting it was outside the perimeter the federal agency was tasked with protecting. Instead, securing and patrolling the factory grounds of AGR International Inc. — located about 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking Saturday — was the responsibility of local Pennsylvania police, Secret Service representative Anthony Gugliemi said, according to the New York Times. The Secret Service was only tasked with covering the grounds where Trump’s rally took place, with local police being recruited to assist with those efforts and
