The jury has started deliberating in the Trump hush money case. They will work until 4:30 PM. Judge Merchan just made it easy for the jury to find Trump guilty with a unanimous vote: [Snip] Jonathan Turley: ...Merchan just delivered the coup de grace instruction. He said that there is no need to agree on what occurred. They can disagree on what the crime was among the three choices. Thus, this means that they could split 4-4-4 and he will still treat them as unanimous... [Snip] If they have questions, they will write note to judge.

We have been following the developments related to the pandemic treaty the World Health Organization (WHO) proposed. Legal Insurrection joined others in sounding the alarms in 2022 when it became clear that the international organization was going to use the COVID-19 pandemic response model for more power grabbing and wealth redistribution. The World Health Organization gets to define what a pandemic is, when a pandemic is in progress and how long a pandemic lasts. Then you read the fine print and you realize the W.H.O will have total authority over emergency operations in the United States if there’s ever a “public health emergency.” Huh?

A possibly disturbing development has unfolded, leading many to believe the fix is already in for a Trump conviction or imprisonment. [Snip] From CBS News: It’s a possibility that officials in state and federal agencies have begun preparing for, according to a New York corrections source, who said the Secret Service has met with local jail officials. As a former president, Trump is entitled to Secret Service protection for the rest of his life, wherever he happens to be. Behind bars, corrections officers would in turn be responsible for protecting those agents assigned to Trump.

The Democratic National Committee will move to conduct virtual party proceedings to certify President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominees before Ohio's Aug. 7 ballot certification deadline, and before their in-person convention beginning Aug. 19, the party confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday. This will take a big moment away from Biden and the party--the official nomination at convention is typically met with fanfare and celebration, but he will become the official nominee virtually, without the pomp and circumstance. The move came moments before the Ohio Senate convened on Tuesday for a special session to address Biden's ability to appear

HELSINKI (ADF International) — Former government minister and sitting Finnish parliamentarian Päivi Räsänen has submitted her defence to the Finnish Supreme Court ahead standing trial a third time for her Bible-verse tweet. The State prosecutor appealed the case despite the Christian grandmother of 12 being acquitted unanimously of “hate speech” charges before both the Helsinki District Court, and the Court of Appeal. The charges are found under the “war crimes and crimes against humanity” section of the Finnish Criminal Code. [Snip] The state’s insistence on continuing this prosecution after almost five long years, despite such clear and unanimous rulings from the lower courts is alarming.

Oberlin College ended up paying over $36 million in the Gibson’s Bakery case, after exhausting all appeals. It was not a voluntary payment, it was either that, or the Gibsons could start seizing college property. [Snip] Oberlin College then sued several of its insurers, seeking coverage for some or all of the payout. We covered that lawsuit on August 6, 2023, Oberlin College Sues Insurers For Refusing To Cover $36 Million It Paid Gibson’s Bakery For Defamation And Other Torts. [Snip] Oberlin College’s Director of Media Relations, Andrea Simakis, has confirmed to me the settlements but without disclosing dollar amounts:

We know that the FBI and DOJ made a point of conducting the Mar-a-Lago raid when they knew Trump would not be there. However, newly released documents associated with the raid empowered the FBI and DOJ agents present on the scene to shoot Donald Trump and his Secret Service detail if necessary. We don’t know if this was standard operating procedure or not, but it’s certainly concerning on its face. [Snip] Assuming that the use of deadly force statement is not the FBI’s standard operating procedure, its inclusion in the raid plan is disturbing. And even if it is SOP,

Judge Cannon on Tuesday unsealed numerous motions related to Jack Smith’s classified documents case against Trump. One filing revealed Biden’s FBI authorized the use of deadly force during their raid on Mar-a-Lago in August 2022. Tons of new unsealed filings on classified docs case--I will try to post as much as I can (there goes the workout) but this is mind-blowing. Big man on campus! Former first son Barron Trump loomed over officials at his South Florida high school Friday morning as he picked up his diploma, while his parents looked on from the bleachers. [Snip] The high school graduate has not yet announced where he will attend college, and the former president recently said his son’s college options had been upended by recent anti-Israel protests and other unrest on campuses. [Snip] The former president also revealed Barron has an affinity for politics and sometimes likes to advise his dad.

On May 8, 2024, Legal Insurrection Foundation and its Equal Protection Project hosted an online webinar, Who Is Funding Anti-Israel Campus Protests? [Snip] But there’s a deeper story that needed to be told, of a well-funded network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that plan and pay for these protest movements. It didn’t sprout organically. It’s a calculated, organized, and well-funded movement. At the Legal Insurrection Foundation, we’ve been discussing and educating the public on the origins of this pernicious movement for over a decade. In this live event, we explored the funding driving these tentifadas and campus protests.

If you are the parent of young children, are you OK with your kids hearing former President Donald Trump’s language and putdowns, like the ones at his rally last Saturday in Wildwood, New Jersey? One can hear a kid justifying his or her own swearing: “If Trump can talk like that, why can’t I?” Is this the way we want our children to be raised? They will learn swear words soon enough (and hopefully control their use of them or eschew them altogether).
